I have a Goodman furnace and had a cleaning service perfo last week. The technician said that there is a small delay (2 seconds or so) before the valve is shut off when the thermostat calls for it. He said that it should happen instantaneously.
Is this a serious problem that I should be worried about? What needs to be done to correct it?
This is one vague diagnosis. Sounds inexperienced. If it is not working properly he should explain clearly what needs to be done to make it right. Offer to correct the situation and provide a estimate of the cost. Taking into account the part(s) may be under warranty then only his flat-rate time would be the cost. The cleaner may be in over his head.

Most duct cleaning companies are not furnace technitions and therefore don't really know what they are looking at. You wouldn't let the kid from Mr. Lube work on your brakes. I would actually call a HVAC company and ask there opinion.
