Planning on getting my floors done and have no idea what people charge anymore. Just wondering so I don't get ripped off.
I will need old floor (carpet) taken out, trim removed and replaced as well.
What is the labor part of the charge?
Hello,
Laminate and hardwood installations will vary depending on the quality of flooring you want.
Laminate (material and labor) can rage anywhere from 3.00/ sf to 8.00/ sf and Hardwood 8.00 to 15.00/sf.
Prep work such as moving furniture, removing old carpet/flooring and trim will be extra and so will disposal fees. in most cases trim will need to be replaced not reused as it will most likely be damaged by removal.
Get a few quotes from reputable companies, check references and even ask to see previous work. try to stay clear from the lowest price and the ones who can do it right away. make sure you ask for proof of insurance and WSIB.
Getting ripped financially is one thing but you can also get ripped off on quality.
when asking for quotes, write a specification sheet outlining exactly what you want done and the type (manufacturer) of flooring you want. this way each contractor will quote you on the exact same thing.
I hope this helps!
Thanks
Dave
