We are looking to complete our basement.
Currently the basement out walls are framed and insulated. We are looking to create a large games/playroom that is 10 x 18'2, a rumpus room for my husband that is 14 x 16'2, a 3 piece bathroom, and a spare bedroom that is 10'8 x 10'10. We are also going to add a linen closet and close up the storage area under the stairs and the furnace room. We are using the homebuilders plans.
To do the basement we would need to have the plumbing done for the bathroom, wall frames for the inner walls built, the drywalling put up, the taping and mudding done, the sub floor and carpet/lino laid. The wall painting we could do ourselves as well as any cosmetic touches the basement needed. We can install the bathroom fixtures, etc. as long as it is set up for us to do so.
Our main concern is price. We are working on a limited budget. We do feel we are capable of doing most of the work ourselves, however the bathroom poses a problem as the developers of our house never roughed in the plumbing for the basement before pouring the concrete. Therefore, we will probably need to tear up the concrete before proceeding with any of the basement developement.
We would be willing to hire someone to do the entire basement or a portion of the basement (specifically the plumbing) if they were interested in taking this on as a project and if they quoted a reasonable price.
Note: Please note the budget we have selected. We've recieved many bids, but they are all 15000 to 30000 over our budget. Thank you.
We don't have a bonus room so wanted to created a big living room and replacing the existing living room as a formal dining area. And would like to add a suite for my mother on the main floor as she can't do stairs anymore. Also need to renovate our basement. Looking for contractors with estimates.
We have a semi finished basement (approx 800 square feet) that we would like to finish, doing most of the work ourselves. We need to hire someone to add/change the location of the existing lighting (recessed) and install a ceiling. The basement consists of a utility/laundry room, bathroom and the remainder of the basement is one open room with a closed off storage room under the stairs. The house was built in 2006. Once the ceiling is complete, we are going to finish the walls ourselves. Eventually we will need help installing the flooring.
I am looking to install or finish installation of a small kitchen, finish laminate flooring around the kitchen, install a door on the furnace room and on the storage room, in a basement suite. I have cabinets, granite countertop but have issues with cabinets needing some repair and incorrect size for uppers. Had another contractor start and never finish.
Thank you
Kelly

New Private entry for basement suite.

I have a finished basement that I would like to convert to a secondary suite. Approx 1100 sq feet?
The ceilings would have to be removed for duct work and everything would have to meet code.
I would like to sound proof the ceiling at the same time.
I would like to have the upstairs Kitchen rem0del at the at time depending on the cost?
It would involve removing a wall ect.
please have references and other project pictures ect.
House is 2.5 years old. Basement outside walls are studded and insulated. Stairs to basement are finished but require some remodelling to accomodate basement design. Bathroom is 3-piece rough in. Two sections of basement will be undeveloped (furnace room/shop and storage room), leaving about 900 sq ft to be developed.
House is estate level quality. Plan is to develop in 2-3 stages. 1. Framing, electrical and plumbing. 2. Drywall, doors, subfloor 3. Finishing, etc. Preference given to contractor willing to manage project in stages over 2 year time frame.
Home owner is willing to assist with construction if it will save money/time.
At the near end of a basement reno and no time or desire to finish the little things job includes:
- sand and paint 1 small 4 ft wall and a 6ft by 1 ft backsplash area
- hang new light fixture
- install and run electrical for new closet lights (currently no electrical ran)
- install transition pieces between flooring (3) rooms
- re-hang 1 door
- cut 1 door to fit (pipe in the way)
- build and install closet organizer
- apply tile floor sealer
- cut and install a few walls worth of baseboard and qurter round (about 80% already done)
- install or replace plate covers on switches and outlets
And that's really about it. Supplies are basically all there. Please do not email me to call you, just give a basic quote on what is listed... If I had the time to show 50 people around for estimates I could do it myself...
My company buys duplex property and then completes basement renovations to turn them into suites. Looking for general contractor to do several projects over the course of this year and next year. The basements would be unfinished or partially finished and between 900-1000 square feet. Ideally we would like to discuss joint venture arrangements where we would provide majority of the down payment on property and you would provide partial qualification in exchange for equity. If you would like to discuss please call me and ask for Brian.
I am looking for a small renovation to be done in my basement in NW Calgary. Currently a small common area at the bottom of the stairs is not separated from the rest of the basement suite. My goal is to move the washer and dryer to the common area and separate the suite with a small wall, add a door, and change the flooring. The common area is about 50 sq. ft. total (6.5ft x 7.25 ft) The work required would involve:
* Pulling up some carpet in the common area.
* Removing the 1.5" wood sub floor to get down to the concrete.
* Building a small wall and hanging a door for entry to the living area.
* Completing a wall extension to close off a current entry way to the basement kitchen.
* Routing hot and cold water and drain from nearby (~4 ft) sink to a corner of the common room.
* Routing dryer hot air exhaust to the same laundry corner.
* Laying down an economical and durable floor covering on the concrete.
Hi, there. We're looking for a contractor to develop part of our basement that is undeveloped. We want to put in a bathroom, laundry room, hallway, furnace room, and closets. Are you available in the near future for a quote? Our budget is closer to the $20,000 - $25,000 range. We want to do the painting and tiling ourselves. Flooring will be laminate or vinyl click tiles.
Converting two basement bedrooms to one bedroom and one fibre arts design studio. Rooms were previously constructed in the 'brown wall panelling' era and have been demolished to the framing as required. New windows have been installed. I require a contractor who can re-frame 2 doors, a closet, and do minor fixes (i.e. below the new windows). Then the contractor must be able to insulate, put up vapour barrier, dry wall walls & ceilings, and (hopefully) lay DriCore insulation and laminate flooring in one room and linoleum in the other. Thanks to all for considering this work.
I am in need of having my partially developed basement completed please and looking for a quote and timeframe (who isn't!?) The electrical is roughed in and the drywall is up (needs mudding, taping, painting).
The staircase will be a bit of work but the rest should be pretty easy going. Anyway, I am hoping you might be able to assist me in this matter! I've attached a few pictures and the basement is only about 600 sq. feet or so.
Let me know what you think. Thanks!
Dennis
Basement is currently complete, we would like to gut the rec room; put in proper lighting, heat vents moved to floor level, sound-proof ceiling, remove a partial wall, add a wet bar - and completely remodel existing space. We also have a bedroom down stairs that we would like new sound-proof ceiling, new lighting, heat vents on floor and remodeled. We welcome your ideas. Looking at also knocking out a kitchen wall and adding a peninsula, new flooring, more lighting.

Our house needs help. Built in 2003, we are still trying to complete our basement, and we have an insurance claim for redoing our rooof. The basement is partially finished with floating studs for walls and a 1 peice shower in the bathroom that is not plummed in. We need help with the plumbing of the shower, toilet, and sink, and to help finish the framing properly around the tub. Our roof has been appraised by an insurance company for replacement.
House is located in Copperfield in the Southeast, and would like to start this project fairly quickly.
I am available all day on tuesday for someone to come by and see the place.
The house was build in 1954. I had a fire inspector in my secondary suite and there are a few things I need to remedy.
1) Install hard-wired interconnected smoke alarms on each floor in each suite. It is recommended that the model installed is a combination smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detector. Installation shall be according to Alberta Building code 2006.
2) Basement bedrooms windows ( Each window currently has an openable size measurement of 14^ x 22.5"
Alberta Building Code 9.7.1.2 Building code 2006.....etc...
3) Install handrail.
4) Fix bathroom ceiling (no part of the fire inspection report, but a leak upstairs made a "hole" in the ceiling. The leak upstairs has been fixed.
5) Install gypsum wallboard not less than one layer of 12.7 mm thick or equivalent material on the ceiling and on each side of the walls, properly finished,. i.e., taped and mudded, it is also expected that all service penetrations (pipes, cables and ducts) are tightly fitted or sealed with an appropriate gypsum board finishing compound.
We can also arrange for you to come and do walk trough.

My basement is unfinished but pretty clean and open. Clean concrete floors and walls. I see the joists overhead.
My home is a 1967 bungalow. The basement is about 500 sqft of renovation area.
I want to put a 2-piece bathroom with room for laundry units in the basement, so I will need rough-in for plumbing.
I also want a small storage area, and the rest of the area (300-350 sqft about) to be a big TV room).
I need electrical done also.
Framing, walls, insulation, and ceiling.
I want (cheap) carpet in the basement, with the bathroom floor with tile.
There is a small furnace and hot water area that I want walled-off as a "utility room".
I want a complete job, but a minimal job. Not fine finishings. Just livable.
I have been quoted individual pieces of the work, but I would like an "all-in" price. Also, I'm not in a hurry, but I would not like it to drag out either. Efficiency please.
I'd like for a contractor to come and quote me for the entire job: framing, electrical, plumbing, walls, ceiling, bathroom, and carpeting.
A basement development which includes: 1 bedroom, 1 washroom (Toilet, sink&counter top, cabinets), shower, sauna(Owner supplied), cold room, utility kitchen(stove, fridge, sink, counter tops, cabinets, walk-in pantry; furnace, storage room and family room (entertainment area(TV), bar set-up, entertaining / games area. The basement area is approximatetly 1,000 sq ft. It would also entail looking at a) re-routing one line plumbing line, b) addressing stairs to the basement and c) enlarging the window in the bedroom. NOTE: I am looking quotes from more than 3 company's before moving forward with the development and I request thier payment terms and warranty.
