Hi,
I am looking to build a patio, in the winter this patio will become a parking spot for my tent trailer. I am on the corner lot and the fence has a gate to allow for trailer parking. Currently it is just uneven grass, I would like to convert it to a patio for use in the spring/summer/Fall and tent trailer parking for the winter. The size would be 11 feet by 18 feet. I was thinking of trimming the area with stone and then hard packed rock or maybe paving stones for the patio itself. I would like to find out what I am looking at for costs. Please email me.
thanks,
Shane
Hello,
Looking for someone to come out and see what can be done for a deck build in the backyard. We recently renovated our kitchen and installed a door. It is raised roughly 2 feet off the ground. My idea was to build the deck out from the door with one step down to create slightly more privacy from the neighbours on that side of the house. Several challenges are the gas line and the window. See attached pictures. I'm not sure we wanted to fully cover the window as we would like the light coming in, although it's just a laundry room. We also have a water tap on the far side of the window as well as laundry exhaust on top of it and what I believe is cable pipes on the left of the door. The rough deck dimensions would be 12' x 10' any thoughts or ideas and a quote would be beneficial.
Hi,
I'm looking on seeing if somebody could help me build a cover for our hottub. It is a portable spa that is on a cedar deck in the corner of the deck. It already has two lattice panels on the two corners, but I would like to put a type of clear panelling over the top so we can enjoy it in the winter (keep off the snow).
If someone has some ideas or costs that wouldn't cost a fortune please let me know.
Current patio/deck is wood construction approximately 24 ft x 18 ft but is an irregular shape. Joist support framework with 3/4" ply decking and 1/2" skirt. Originally covered with felt-type carpeting. I have removed most deck sheets and discovered main support beam [3ea 8" x 2"] has rotted.
Also note that the original sheets were "glued & screwed" but most of the screws "rotted out" and are still in the joist.
Need to either replace in kind or put in something new - even stone instead of wood??? - open to suggestions.

The large wood threshold on my front porch has been cracked since I moved in 8 years ago. Because of this, some of the wooden floorboards have rotted from moisture entering in under the front door. I need the threshold and rotten boards replaced, and to Add in a better seal between the wooden door and threshold.
Hi,
I'm a resident in Calgary, Alberta. Just looking for an online estimates, currently I'm on the planning and budgeting stage. A 2008 single house and my plan is to put up a fence and a deck. Please find the details below.
My backyard fence preference is 6ft. height w/ 3 gates, 1 for pedestrian and 2 for garage doors using pressure treated wood. Estimated lot area, more or less is 26ft. wide and 2 x 80ft. deep. I prefer Bastion type of wood fence w/ 4'x4' post.
For my deck its a 10ft. wide x 18ft deep pressure treated wood w/ aluminum railing (white color). Its less than 2ft or 24 inches off the ground.
Looking forward for your response.
Thanks,
Bruce
See the title above. 1977 built home in Silver Springs needs new railings on both upper and lower decks. Plus it needs a new deck floor on upper level plus a floor covering of some sort to repel water.
Upper deck is off master bedroom and is a wrap-around with about 20 ft by 6 ft on each of two sides. Deck surface needs replacement plus a water-repellent membrane of some sort.
Lower deck needs railing replacement only. It is 20 ft by 6 ft on one side and joins a stair down to a third deck.
Above ground deck ( over a walkout basement ). 12 x 22 feet with stairs to ground level ( 9 stairs ). Stairs and metal railing are in good condition and can be kept. Some joists are rotted but most are okay. The decking currently is ceramic tile which was put over an old aggregate pebble.
I need the deck removed and any damages done to the property repaired. Previous owner built an addition deck in the backyard which does not comply with City bylaws or real property report so it must be removed and damages to property fixed. I need 3 estimates to submit to my lawyer to submit to the previous owner's lawyer.
I am looking for a reliable contractor to renew an existing elevated deck (size 10x24). The following needs to be done:
1. fix up two rotten corners and fascia around the corners
2. replace approx. 40 feet of wooden rail on the deck
3. replace approx. 10 feet of a fence
4. replace one gate
5. refresh 7 steps
All this should be done either in cedar, spruce or pressure treated. Please provide an approx. quote for material and labor separately.
We would like to start the job within a week or two.
Please note that we are looking for a pro, someone who does decks professionally. Must be reliable with references.
Thank you
Mike
Hello! We have (what we think is) an 11-year old deck (home built in 2010 - bought the house in Jan 2021). The deck is great but we're thinking we would prefer if it were lowered to lawn level for privacy, and we are not confident in doing it ourselves. Wondering what the cost would be for something like this. Hoping to reuse most of the wood as well. Deck is about 20 x 10. Happy to provide more pictures of deck, footing, area under the deck, or whatever else upon request.

We are looking for a contractor with experience doing exterior work on older homes. This is a 105 year old single family house. We suspect it may have been an Eaton's house.
The front of the house has a full porch 7x17 and a half balcony 7x7 above. We would like the front porch completely replaced (down to new footing) and a new full balcony above. Both approximately 7x17, and a new front door.
Most of the exterior finishes on the house are original, cedar shingles and cedar clapboards with some moulding details. The finishing on the porch and balcony have to match: wood rails with panelled posts, wood siding on the porch skirting, and similar mouldings.
The original cement stoop, about 6ft x 6ft x 28in and three cement steps remains partially under the porch. At some point the porch was built over it. Some or all of this may have to be removed.
Other constraints:
The home is on a small inter-city lot where parking is limited. The front yard is fenced with a wood picket fence, care must be taken not to damage it.
Should we choose to go forward on this project the start time would probably be a year or more out.
Support posts for deck are good. Main support beam is rotten as well as support boards. The deck floor is 2x6's treated lumber in good shape. If possible we would like to keep deck floor. Deck railings are to be replaced with aluminium railings. Would like a quote for full replacement of deck and quote for partial replacement. A cedar trellis on front of support posts. Would like this work completed before the end of April. Treated lumber to be used. We are property owners.
