We are looking to get our men's and women's washrooms re-tiled, re-painted, new cabinets, fixtures etc. We are also looking to get some type of insulating film installed in 5 small offices. As well we would like a quote on changing some carpets in our high traffic areas. The square footage of both of our washrooms is approximately 12' x 12'.
If someone could give me a call to arrange viewing that would be great.
Thanks,
Elaine
We have 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a basement that all need refinisihing. The two bathrooms are mirror images of each other and basically need to be gutted and redone with new fixtures. We'll want to keep this fairly simply as we're looking to move out soon so no fancy tile work or exotic fixtures needed. Just something reasonably prices and nice to look at. The exhaust fans have condesation issues during the winter so the ceilings will need replacement and the condesation issue addressed.
The kitchen will need new cabinets and a new floor. As above, we want something that looks nice and contemporary but not extravagant (ie no granite countertops). There is a terrible floor squeak by the side entranceway that we would like fixed when the floor is redone. The floor currently has stick on tiles over old linoleum.
The basement has been framed and wired in a rough manner. I did this myself as a learning experience shall we say and it probably needs some improvement by a pro. There is some minor plumbing reworking and some minor framing changes we'd like done. The wiring and framing was inspected and approved by the city. We'd like to finish this off completely; drywall, ceilings, floors, the whole bit. This is rumpous room and laundry type setting so we'll want to keep it simple. I have some doors already purchased and assorted bits here and there to use up.
We can certainly discuss finishing options more when we meet. Our timeframe is wide open so we can accomodate a bit of a wait if that is more convenient for a reputable contractor.
We are moving next month. Our new house doesn't have a tv niche, only a fireplace with nothing above it. We want to build a tv niche above the fireplace. The outside of the house does appear to accommodate one. We want our niche to have a cable wire which is currently ground level to the side of the fireplace and an electrical plug in and possibly shelving. We may decide to change the fireplace as well to a smaller, more modern one depending on the cost.
Thanks,
Michelle
Hi
I am currently bidding on purchasing a 1,636 SF warehouse built in 1950. It is zoned that i can build on top of the current building. I am considering an open concept with large windows. How much would it cost per sq foot and what are some of the obstacles i might consider. I reside in Calgary Alberta.
Thank you
Trina
I have 1000 square feet bungalow. Need renovation on the main floor. Key requirements are:
1. One main washroom.
2. One half washroom.
3. Kitchen renovation like open concept.
4. All doors and closets replacement.
5. All new lights.
6. Paint full house including ceiling.
7. Need new drain pipes outside.
8. Some mould fix in bedroom and closet.
9. Laminate floor full house including kitchen. Except washrooms.
I am looking at adding significant square footage to a 900 sq ft 1941 home built in the inner city of Calgary in the Bridgeland community.
1st add a room to main floor - with stair case to new attic space. This room will be approximately 170 sq ft. This will include full basement development. This will also require to create access from existing basement to new development. On this addition there will be a door to the outside and there are 2 existing windows on the current home that will be used as door ways into the new space.
2nd to develop existing attic space - this is a stick frame construction and the ceiling joists are 2x10. I believe that the rafters are 2x8 or 2x10, I can not remember. There is head room but 2 - 4 dormers will be added to expand head space and to allow for a 1/2 or 3/4 bath. This bath will be place above directly above an existing full bathroom. This attic will be come a sitting area and master bed room.
3rd item will be to add new counter top in kitchen to add an eating area around the new counter top, some additional cabinet may be needed or just add supports so that counter top can be expanded by 18" beyond the existing base cabinet. This is not a large kitchen - there is approximately 19 lineal feet of existing counter top with and an additional 7' added for new integrated eating area.
4th There are 2 existing bath rooms that are also in need of renovating, but these can also be done as separate contracts. The main floor bathroom will need to be striped - the vanity and toilet are both less than 5 years old and will be retained. A new tub and shower will be required, new tiling and drywall. The basement bathroom will be striped - there is a raised floor and this will be removed to allow for more head room. The existing concrete floor may need to reworked to modify drainage as the existing raised floor is to accommodate the drainage (at least that is what is suspected). All new fixtures for this space, new window, insulation, drywall. There is an existing wall that will also need to be moved in order to follow building code (the toilet is not currently to code!) Both of these bathrooms have 'OLD' piping that is original or 1970 model. The house does have some new PVC piping as well, so there will be a need for changes in existing piping.
I know that finishes can drastically change the cost of a project so I am looking at 2 main prices - one for completion to drywall and subfloor and then a second price to complete the project. In term of the finishes we would be looking at hardwood flooring for the living spaces and ceramic or proceline tile for the bathroom floors. Tiles for a good portion of the bathroom walls. For the kitchen we are looking at quartz composite countertops. In the room addition on the main floor there will be a built in banquet and circular stairwell.
Thank-you for your time and consideration in this project.
Looking for a skilled worker who can do the following,
- Install hardwood
- Install windows and exterior/interior doors and all trim
- Install kitchen cabinetry and doors
- Tile shower installation and glass for walk in shower

- Able to construct custom millwork do minor plumbing and electrical is a bonus but I realize I may have to go to other professional contractors for certain aspects of the job.

I have a Shane home built 2005. To the right of the entrance door is a room which has two exterior walls and one interior wall and which needs to be closed on the remaining side, which is now open. The wall interior non load bearing to be built will be approximately 9 foot, with access to the room through two french doors 28 inches wide x 80 inches high. Second floor bonus room, which has an archway needs to be closed off with french doors. Arch way is 96 inches and needs to be narrowed to accomdate for 2 x 32 inch french doors.
Timing for project to start - within the next week or two.
We have a 17' x 7' uninsulated 'cold room' in our basement that is directly below our living room that we would like to convert to an insulated room. In my limited experience, the job will entail the following (at a minimum):
1. removal and disposal of existing shelving
2. clean all concrete walls and ceiling
2. tar paper on the walls
3. 2x4 framing on outside walls
4. batt insulation (or perhaps rigid)
5. vapor barrier on warm side of insulation
6. 1/2 inch drywall on walls and ceiling
I am the owner looking for a quote for the cost of installing the following in a commercial condo unit (requested by current existing tenant):
Add interior walls & doors for two offices (approx.10' x10') in existing front open reception area.
Add interior walls and doors for two offices (approx.10' x10') in existing rear warehouse area.
Add dividing wall in existing office.
Thank you!
I am opening a business that requires some showers and sinks added to the rooms. The unit is empty (completely) and am looking for person(s) who are able to do general plumbing (PEX to faucets, drains, etc.) as well as ground disturbance within a concrete slab to run drain lines for 3 sinks and 2 showers. The thickness of the slab is uncertain as well as the closest main drain that could be accessed. The drain area could be in exess of 40 ft long.
I am looking for quality rather than quick & shoddy, but cost is always a factor. The building unit has a suspended ceiling (not sure if this matters or not) and new walls will be added and plumbed as nec. (obviously).
I would prefer to call references before hiring, so please list some.
To my understanding, a Master Plumber Certification is required to do commercial work for the city of Calgary. please list your cert. no. for reference to the city so a stutus report can be done.
Thank you.

I have an older 1 bdrm condo downtown on 14th avenue that is roughly 550 sq ft. It was supposed to have been completely gutted and renovated by the seller but was not done and he ran with the money. Anyhow, I now have a condo that has been completely gutted and nothing done after that. I have bought all the supplies (paint, cabinets, sink, toilet, tub, faucets, tiles, baseboards, drywall, mud, doors, closets, etc. They are all at the building. I had a contractor that was supposed to do the job and even took a payment from me but has not even started the job and now I can't get a hold of him. His price was $6000 to finish everything, $2000 of which he already took. So i'm looking to find someone who can do it for a good price.
Gym:
- Repair one of two bathrooms (shower is leaking)
- Remove fixtures and plumbing from other bathroom.
- Demolish/remove sauna OR decommission sauna (our choice depends on price).
Laundry Room:
- Replace laundry room ceiling with one that meets building code.
- Install access panels in ceiling where necessary to access plumbing in the gym bathroom above.
- Tile entire laundry room floor.
- Patch and paint walls.
We'd like each of the above items costed out. At a minimum we're going to fix the bathroom in the gym & remove the other, and fix the laundry room roof/paint walls. We may request other items to be done depending on cost and what fits within our budget.
