Hi I am hoping to get a quote for a home reno me and my husband are doing. The addition is going to be 9' x 20' and I am wondering the cost difference to go all the way down into the basement or if its possible to just put piles in the ground and go that route and would love some expert advice and quotes.
The house located 7 km south of Bragg creek was built in 1980 and we are looking to add on. We already have a complete drawing package which includes 480 sq feet of living area (1 bedroom 1 bath and a front entrance) all on 5 foot crawl space. The attached garage is 720 sq feet on a concrete slab. To start with we would just like to get the addition to a lock up stage. Crawl space dug walls framed and sheeted, and the roof shingled.
Want to add a 10 X 28 addition to the side of my house to enclose a small swim spa. Looking to do as much of the work myself as I can but I would like a basement under the addition and a bathroom in it. Not sure of the age of my house but it was built in the 60s. Looking right now to get some plans drawn up so I can see about getting permits and have both the gass and power moved to acomidate the addition. There are a few changes that will need to be made to my home. I will need to add a window to the bedroom as the addition will cover the exisiting window. And I will need to move the exitsing patio door and add a door to access the addition ass well a door will be needed to be added to the basement. This addition will be replacing the existing covered deck
Request you to kindly have a look are below description and quote it
1-In the attached drawings, the left side shows the current state, while the right side shows the proposed state.
2- you can see the addition of four bathrooms, the move of some walls, and the removal of some non-load-bearing walls.
3- I am applying for a home depot project loan. Therefore, all materials must be obtained from there or if you have better alternatives, I can research them.
4-We will begin this project in the coming weeks, and it should be completed by the middle of October 2021.
5 - Wish to obtain permits.
6- I am looking for budget-friendly professionals. The finishing and all materials are sourced by me/paid from the project loan
7- Quote me the best possible rough estimate and rough materials cost for the framing and others
8. Attaching the drawings and current photos. Send me the rough estimate for the work before i can schedule the site visit once I shortlist the pro.
My home is a bungalow built in 1979 which has been totally renovated. The rear entry is terrible - small and narrow and the stairs to the lower level come directly off this entry. I would like to build an addition and possibly reconfigure the stairs to the lower level. The new entrance would be large enough to function as a proper mudroom with a large closet. I have a rear detached garage so there is room to build out.
Hi, we are looking for some renovation work in our house.
1. Addition to rear of our 2 story house - 13' x8' above the existing nook
2. Drywall under the stairs going down the basement
A. Remove the drywall to give an open concept design (so no drywall stays under the stairs going up to 2nd floor as well as the door going down the basement is removed)
B. Install hand rail on the main floor and steps going down the basement
3. Steps and Landing in garage
A. Cut out extra-long platform
B. Reverse the steps
C. Install the modified stairs and platform
4. Framing and drywalling for new bed room & closet addition in the basement
5. Framing and drywalling for the New walk in Closet in between 2 Bedrooms
A. Remove the existing standard door closets from bed 1 & 2
B. Frame the walk-in closet
The work is planned to start on June 17 and expected finish duration is 7-10 days.
Hi,
I am considering adding an addition to the back of my house to increase the size of the kitchen and eating area. While this project is a few years out I would like to set some goal posts to aim for costwise, any guidance that can be offered would be greatly appreciated. Project is in Calgary, AB. See attached survey snapshot both annotated and not.
The current eating area is a single story gabled section as identified on the image. I would like to extend that out to be flush with the back of the sunroom (~2.13m) for the full width (4.27m, shown in orange). As part of this process I would like to flush up the sunroom to the extended eating area and move the current door (in red) to the back (in yellow). From the drawing you can see that the sunroom roof extends square it is just the doorway that is angled. I would like the addition to have a Crawlspace underneath (or if not cost prohibitive a full depth basement addition) to help keep the room warmer. There is a window well not pictured (drawn with green) that could be opened up to serve as the entrance to the Crawlspace. Also, in blue, I would like to increase the size of the other window well for safety purposes. Two heating/cooling vents currently terminate at the back of the house and would need to be extended back with the addition and some electrical reworks will be required including an exterior light and outlet, and potentially adding switches closer to the new exterior door. We would like the addition to have panoramic half height windows with a double sliding door for access to the deck. Continuation of the gable ceiling would be acceptable, but a terminating slope to 8ft ceiling height would be preferred.
This would be done in conjunction with a kitchen reno which will be mostly completed by myself but there may be opportunities for an expanded scope to assist with plumbing and electrical rough ins as well as approximately 1000 sqft of tiling (including the new addition). Removal of the current deck will be completed by myself, but please comment of cost of excavation for Crawlspace. Rear access is limited to the gap between the house and neighbouring home
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
We want to add an extra bedroom at the back of an infill on a 25' lot. House is 16' wide and by what I understand from bylaw, (zoning is R-C2) we could add up to 8' and still be less than 45% of lot size for allowable building area.
So basically, add 8x16' to the main floor and extend the nook. And create another bedroom above that.
Would like to be contacted for estimates on a job for next year. Major work is for front main addition ~10`x36' extension; includes extension to living room, porch (foyer) and bedroom to drywall finish interior and hardy panel w/stone exterior. Existing living room; partial removal of ceiling. Basement addition; ~5' x 36' feet sunken patio off basement with retaining walls ~, includes one new bathroom rough in, one new washer/dryer rought in, separate entrance with door and drain, 1 new furnace and ducting or other heating means, 1 new gas fireplace, patio doors, ~3windows, subpanel. Existing basement; removal of basement wall between existing and supported by undermount engineer beam and 1 column. Removal of existing concrete basement floor and underpin walls (~300 sq ft.). Replace sewer line to edge of property and to be coordinated with the city. Add kitchen sink rough in. Sound proof ceiling with 2'x2' tile. Meets city secondary suite codes. Complete to drywall state. Drawings for building permit will need to be accompanied by Engineer Drawings for the Engineered beam, column(s), floor joists and roof trusses.
Drawings have been submitted for the development permit with the city of Calgary. The public notice has been completed.

home is 11 years old , would like to add a bonus room ( 24 x 20 ) on top of garage. need heat and electrical , no plumbing needed. one window on each side with a bay window for the front. 2-4 skylights. i can do all the painting and flooring myself. shingled roof with stucco exterior. would prefer an online quote , feel free to ask questions. require pricing to include everything needed to complete , labour , permits , etc.... thank you
We have an 8' x 10' (approx.) deck that is supported by large concrete cantalevers that are bolted to the house. We would like to remove the deck and add a small addition onto the cantalevers. This deck leads from the dining room accessed by glass doors. Our house is a 4 level split.
I'm building a detach secondary suite, garage on the main floor and a suite on top.
I have a 22x24 detach garage that needs to be demolished and concrete pad remove.
Need to excavate for new 22x38 footing and dig to tie the swear line to the existing house sewer line and possibly dig a second trench for the water line .
I also need the concrete footing walls and floor poured and ready for construction.
Looking to expand a home basement and the above ground square footage over the expanded basement on rural land just out side Calgary. What are the approximate cost per sq/ft for the basement, including opening up and joining the existing concrete wall to have increased square footage in the basement? Also, what are the approximate cost per sq/ft for the expanded above ground development? The above ground would most likely consist of bedrooms and ensuite.
Also, would be interested in approximate cost to upgrade an existing home towards a EnerGuide 84 or Net Zero ready standard?
Cheers
Carson
Presently the dining area extends approx 8ft from the living area, and opens on to the deck.
We are thinking of extending the house in the back by approximately 8 feet to bring the living area in line with the dining area and reducing the deck size. The length of the extended area is 15 ft giving a total area increase of 120 ft. The area of the bedroom on the first floor and the basement increase by the same amount. One of smaller bedrooms on the first floor would also extend over the dining area (8 x8 area increase). The total increase in sq footage is 120+64 ft2 on the first floor, 120 ft2 on the main floor and 120 ft2 in the basement.
Kitchen cabinets/island would need to be redone after reclaiming the small pantry area along with the flooring and additional windows as required.
House was originally constructed in 1998,
I would like an estimate of the cost for the proposed work.
Based on the approximate initial estimate I would add to or subtact from the scope after relooking at our priorities.
We have an older home (1929) with a smaller kitchen (200 sq ft). We would like to add a small addition (150-200 sqft) to extend kitchen and add a mud room.
We are interested in starting this project (depending on financial feasibility as per quotes) in the 1-2 month timeframe. We would like to work with someone who has experience in older home additions and is willing to provide references and is willing to commit to the timeline above.
We would like a quote on the addition in 3 options:
1-addition without basement
2-addition with basement
3-addition with top and main floor (2 story)
I am available after work (4-on) this week for a consultation. Thanks!
We don't have a bonus room so wanted to created a big living room and replacing the existing living room as a formal dining area. And would like to add a suite for my mother on the main floor as she can't do stairs anymore. Also need to renovate our basement. Looking for contractors with estimates.
We are considering of purchasing an old house in Calgary that would need some additional space.
House was built in 1961 and is a bungalow., 918 sqFt main floor and 796SqFt basement. was wondering what the cost would be to extend one side of the house (could be the back or the side) in order to create 1 more bedroom on the mainfloor and one more bathroom.
Does it have to be done from the basement (foundation) and up? How much would it cost just to built and frame it? Also how much would it cost us to remove asbestos?
We are planning to build an addition to our house in Renfrew to be done this summer. The current house was extensively rebuilt in 1986, however was built on an old foundation from the original house (early 60's?). The house is currently 1750 sq feet on two stories and we are planning a two story addition in the back of the house. The back can be accessed via a back alley. We plan the addition to include a 300 sq foot main floor consisting of a family room and small bathroom and a 300 sq foot second floor consiting of two bedrooms. There will be no basement, only 4 ft frost walls. There is currently a 150 sq foot old addition in the back that we plan to demolish and replace with this new addition. Our plan is to hire one of more contractors to bring the job to lockup (basement, framing, windows, roofing, siding, soffits and fascia.) We are able to do all the other interior and finishing work ourselves.
We would like to discuss cost and timing with contractors as soon as possible. We have professional drawings done.
Thank you, Marc.
