The R rating for my residential home, currently utilizing blown insulated, attic is R30. Do to cold air leakage from the attic into the living area, I would like to increase the rating to R50. I am looking for a contractor who specializes in home insultation to come and blow the additional insulation into my attic. Open to all to provide an estimate.
we have two roof sections on a side split house (2800 sq feet) When we movd in the home inspector indicated that we needed to upgrade our ceiling insulation in both sections. We have not been into the ceiling to see where we are at, but would love a quote on bringing us up to decent level. Whole house was renovated in 1981 and 1986 with additions to the original house.
Complete new house build in Bowness. 3750 square feet, 2 storey house with 2 drive down garages in the basement. Basement won't be finished. We're not looking for very fancy materials. We don't mind using a project manager if not too greedy !
We can also manage the project ourselves so we will need all the trades :
- Excavation, ground prep and concrete work (footing, foundation walls, stairs, pathways and driveway etc.)
- Utilities and services from street to house
- Framers, wrapping and insulation
- Carpenters
- Electrician
- Plumber
- Windows and installers
- Drywall, joints and insulation
- Roofers
- Kitchen and bathroom cabinetry
- Flooring (installers and suppliers of hardwood flooring)
- Basic landscaping
Interested in getting quotes to add exterior wall insulation for 20-100% of my home to meet specification for the greener home grant and loan program.
Home is 1967 Bungalow in Southwood. Likely 2x4 wall construction with R12? pink batt or similar insulation as was used in 1967. Interior is finished so would want to add ~R10 or better insulation to exterior.
The west side of the home represents ~20% of the exterior and has no doors or windows and would be a simple job of removing siding, adding 2x2 studs, rigid 2" insulation, house wrap and replace siding.
The north wall adds another other ~10% of the house which extends around the front of the home where the living room window will be replaced in the next few weeks. The living room window will be replaced with a 3 panel sliding patio door and will have 6" casing and designed to accomodate the same rigid 2" insulation added to exterior.
The WEST WALL DIMENSIONS 28' x 89" = ~208 SQ FT
The SOUTH WALL DIMENSIONS 11' x 89" (excludes patio door) = ~ 81 SQ FT

I have a house built in 1951 with original windows and stucco siding. There is some insulation, but is original and insufficient. I want to improve the heat efficiency of my home by replacing the existing 8 single pane windows with double pane. I also want to find the best method of insulating the house. I am leaning towards removing the old stucco, wrapping the house and replacing the stucco, but am open to alternative methods. The insulation in the ceiling should also be replaced as it is old and at low R level.
The house is approx 870sqft living space, single family bungalow, detached lot.
Gas heating.
Our two-story house was built in 2002 and is approx 2000 sq feet. We have found since we have moved in that certain rooms upstairs are colder in the winter and hotter in the summers. We didn't realiize that the insulation in the attic may be the culprit. It was recommended to us that we should hire a professional to blow fiberglass insulation in our attic to get our house back to code (at least R49 values) throughout the attic (i.e. evenly distributed).
Hi - I have an insulation project: 80 sq ft floor insulation and 136 sq feet of new walls. This will be required after the framing of new walls for the home extension will be completed. See picture.

I would like to know different methods available with associated R-Value improvements and estimated cost for each method. House is approx 60 years old, 1400 sq feet, 4 inch walls, 4 level split in Haysboro. Heating is by hot water. During the cold snap the temp could not rise above 18 degrees. Lower windows are fairly new.
House is 1922, renovations in early 90's. Square footage of attic is 365. Existing insulation is combination of pink fibre and wood chips, poorly layered. Audit inspector recommends upgrading from R-4.3 to R-50. Job must be complete by 2 Mar 2012. Would like to properly layer/replace existing, upgrade insulation, ensure proper air flow, ventilation, etc and replace hatch with air-sealed and insulated solution.
My home was fully renovated with the exception of the front bedroom. Two outside walls have original insulation (1979) and this needs to be upgraded. It is very cold in the fall and winter. Looking at whether the siding needs to be removed to install new insulation or if it can be sprayed in.
I'd like to get some quotes on soundproofing the shared wall of a duplex. I'm thinking I'd like to go with the Green Glue solution... Its a 14.63m wall which is the living room/dining area, a bathroom and a bedroom. I think the bathroom will be the biggest issue as there is a counter and a mirror on the wall adjacent to the shared wall. I like the Green Glue solution as I think it would be the quickest, cheapest and less messy way of getting some quiet.
I would prefer an on-line estimate only at this point. once I have a sense of cost I'll consider doing the on-site quotes.
I would like to have my house sound proofed between the main floor and basement suite. Currently you can hear footsteps and muffled talking when you are in the basement. The main floor is 1130 sq ft. Please provide an estimate for costs and how you would recommend sound proofing. There seem to be varying opinions on the effectiveness of methods.
Thank you.
I have a 3 year old house. The ceiling has been leaking due to condensation problems in the winter. We have had power vents installed and the house assessed by the gas company for energy efficiency. During the assessment it was determined that the upper floor ceiling pot lights are not air tight, thus causing part of the problem for condensation, plus the exhaust fan in the master bathroom is not powerful enough for the space. i need someone who can fix this problem and repair the damage from the leaks.
