House was built in 2012, the basement is 704 sq ft. I want to put a 1 bedroom basement suite in the home. The suite will require a door to the outside, which can be put at grade level leading directly into the basement stairwell (this is where the builder puts it when they build the suite at construction phase). Suite will also require it's own furnace (according to fire codes), in-suite laundry, kitchen and bathroom. I would like the finishing to be done to the same standard as the upper floor, laminate flooring, knock-down ceilings, no carpet. The plumbing rough-in already exists and the builder has supplied the floor plan for development. Also part of the project, I would like to close off the basement door leading to the main floor of the house and convert that space into a pantry. I can supply plan and any additional information to the contractor. Also, with respect to kitchen cabinets/bathroom cabinets, I would be satisfied with pre-fabricated ones, i.e. IKEA or alike.
We are looking to develop a legal basement suite in our ~1200 sqft basement. the basement is a blank canvas. we want to put in 2 bedrooms (maybe 3), 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen and a separate entrance by cutting into the concrete foundation and maybe an extra window. we want a good looking basement that would be easy to rent and for personal use as well when required.
Brand new unfinished basement. Probably 7-800 square feet. We want one bedroom, one bathroom with shower, in suite laundry, kitchen, sound proofing, drywall ceiling, versatile flooring throughout, open concept. We want the basement to look like another floor of the house not like a basement. The basement has a separate entrance but still needs fire rated door. No short cuts. We want this job done to code and the catch is we need it done by May 1st.
The basement is currently drywalled. We are looking for a contractor to mud & tape the basement walls. We are also interested in having the ceilings finished with a california knockdown stucco. The basement will require "bullnose" corners on two of the corners and will require a bullnose finish on two areas of the basement where HVAC required the ceiling height to be lowered. The mud/taping of the staircase to the basement is also included within this posting.
Looking for a taper mudder and someone to do a drop down California ceiling in basement. Measured out the square footage is approx 1593 sq foot walls and 475 sq foot ceiling. The dry walling was done by myself and the work will be required mid to end February. I would like to know price separate from muddling taping, and drop down ceilin. Also rounded corners including bulk heads.
I am a senior and this job will be approximate 1/3 of completed job. Meaning that I will be slowly working at dry walling the remainder as time and money permits.
Completing basement reconstruction after summer flood. Area consists of 2 bedrooms and one large open space.
Includes:
1. reinsulating 2 outside walls, replacing drywall, sanding, taping finishing.
2. pulling up carpet ready for install and perhaps installing new flooring
3. painting all existing walls, installing baseboards
4. finishing electrical
5. sanding and painting ceilings where popcorn has been removed
6. installing closet doors where necessary.
7. may include installing some cabinetry for media center
Would like to be finished by end of February if possible.
I have a basement that framing was done drywall was put up but never finished properly - have laminate flooring in the garage, lights in the basement but on the concrete floor. Doors not put up properly. The basement was started but left unfinished. I would like to get it completed but unfortunately found this site a little bit to late as the previous so-called contractor has left and has not completed the job. I need a estimate of the cost to finish it.
Thanks
Tracey
Hello,
I own an older bunglow and am thinking about remodeling the basement to make the house more functional and nicer. Just wondering if someone can swing by to give an estimate and what can be done. I'm off this Monday to Wednessday.
Thanks,

I have a basement that is finished. It had a foundation leak that I had repaired. I now want to rehab the wall. It had paneling on it. I want to remove the panelling in the rest of the room and have it drywalled. I also require flooring too. It is a rental property. So I am looking for solid work with durable products.
There are two bedrooms, a bathroom and living area in basement with laundry furnace and hot water tank. I need the two bedrooms reconfigured to allow for better flow. The bathroom needs a gut and redo. There may be a leak that needs to be fixed. We would also like to see better storage in basement. If possible I would like to add kitchenette and better laundry area.
Need old upper cabinets removed in basement kitchen, and existing walls and ceiling removed. Then need new drywall installed and taped and a new suspended ceiling installed.
Also need work to the unfinished part of basement. This will include framing, insulation, drywalling and installation of a new suspended ceiling. Windows (3) will require a build-out on interior frames and new casings. Plumbing and electrical will have tto be altered to accommodate new interior walls.
1200 square foot, 1 want to build a bathroom, 1 bedroom, 1 family room, 1 small shop and the balance to be a small open area. I have all the materials for the bathroom including the shower, toilet, sink, cabinets and plumbing. I need the electrical for the basement, ceiling closed in, lighting, flooring. The home is 5 years old in south east Edmonton.
I am in the process of renovating the basement of my 1050 square foot home with the eventual goal of a legal suite. While I will be doing the majority of the labour myself I do have several specific jobs for a contractor.
Major projects that I am looking to contract out are as follows:
Full washroom, sewage pipes already installed (top priority)
Cutting a new egress window
Widening old windows to meet egress codes
Secondary furnace installation with separate vent system for the basement, or a circulation system so that I may install radiant floor heat and still be within codes
Some minor wiring and rewiring including a 220V for a stove
I have already applied for a building and development permit and all floor plans are drawn.
In our older 1200 square foot bungalow we want to renovate the basement. There are 3 main rooms. One bedroom we need carpet removed and Lino added. Second bedroom have carpet installed and paint. Main living room add wall with door, change wet bar to be more current, remove carpet and add durable carpet and underlay. There is asbestos in the ceiling tiles right now so need that removed and change ceiling also. We also have few holes in a couple walls we need patched up.
I had a flood this summer, but everything is cleaned up and took out....... so i would need carpet or lamanate, 2 feet of the drywall was taken off, base boards, insulation and paint.
It is a small basement about 650 sqf. If you could give me a quote that would be great.
Thanks,
Wanda
Our house was built in 1982 and is apparently "partially finished" however they simply slapped on some drywall, didnt mud or tape and called it a day. It would have to all be torn down and we will basically need to re do the whole thing. Our basement is small, about 900 sq feet and we want to utilize the space. There is roughed in plumbing for a half bath but it is in the middle of the room and there are posts that we think are structural. Our duct work also comes quite low in spots and are looking at the option of moving it to better work with a celing. We are just lost on how to even configure the basement. This is what we need help with, what we are able to move and do somewhat on the cheap and what would just be too expensive to move.
we need our basement framed, as we just don't have the time finish it, we need quotes on framing, we have all the lumber and we need qoutes on drywalling as well. It's about 1200 square feet,(we have one wall that wasn't taken down, other wise everything is gutted) we need to frame in a second bedroom.
House description: two-story single house, built in 1979, 1,923 sqf.
House location: Edmonton south-west area
Basement: unfinished, concrete wall
Project: intend to install insulation on the concrete wall all the way around basement. Installation includes install wood frame on the wall and put up the insulation material (all materials are included).
Hi looking for estimates for my basement framing and insulation already done looking to but a bathroom in with corner shower the line for shower would have to be done so cutting the concrete would need to be done already have electrical done so just looking for a price for the labour. one wall lengthways is already gyprocked and stairs going down is gyprocked looking for labour costs for install laminate flooring doing the gyprock and drywall and painting framing bathroom and i will order all materials just looking for estimates for plumbing and labour for basement this includes you getting the permits.
Thank you
I'm looking to finish two small rooms in my basement. The total area needing to be finished is 120 sq feet (about 6.5 ft wide and just under 19 ft long). Looking for basic finishes. HVAC already runs a register to 1 of the 2 rooms. Two of the walls are exterior walls and already framed. One room will be used as a bedroom (there is a large window in this room) and one as an office. Will be looking at carpet for flooring, or potentially laminate. Just trying to keep things as simple as possible.
I am the property owner and the house is a duplex.
