I am hoping to remodel my whole bathroom upstairs. It is not an ensuite and already has a walk in shower with no bathtub; bathroom is approximately 52 sq. ft. It was renovated a few years ago (unsure of when) and it seems that the owner self-tiled everything. I just moved into this home in the summer and noticed many cracks in the grouting and tiles, it was an amateur job. My shower starting leaking into my downstairs bathroom due to the cracks but we sealed them with silicone and it is fine for now. We know it won't last long and it needs to be redone. We are looking for the most cost effective renovation, whether that means keeping the walk in shower or putting in a bathtub. We aren't looking to replace our toilet or take down any walls, we want to use the space that is already available. I don't think any plumbing will need to be replaced or rerouted. I have heated floors as well and would like to keep them.
Hello,
I own a 1977 townhome in NW Edmonton. I am renovating the whole place, however have left the main bathroom as it needs to be completely re-done, which includes black mold removal - not something I can take on myself! It will need a tub, about a 3' vanity, all hardware, toilet, possibly flooring. This has been a rental property the last 5 years, and I plan to continue renting the unit. I want fixtures/finishes that are more basic, however still durable and visually appealing enough to potentially put the place on the market to sell in the next 3-5 years.
I am hoping to have someone in so that I can get a quote on the following dates/times:
Sept 20 @ 12pm
Sept 20 @ 2pm
I would like the work completed by Oct 15 if possible, however understand the timeline could be longer.
The 'Budget selection' portion only allows me to choose $1000-$5000 or $5000-20,000. Realistically I would like to stay as close to $5000 and under $7000 - inclusive of the mold removal.
Thank you,
Sarah
Small bathroom in 1950s main floor condo, shower / tub area (rest of bathroom is fine). I need someone to do good, solid, decent workmanship. This isn't a high-end, fancy renovation, but just restoring the bathroom to a good, ordinary standard.
Major:
- Original window needs to be replaced
- Tub needs to be replaced (refinished at some point, but flaking badly now)
- Tilework is mildewed in places, may or may not need to be replaced
- Popcorn ceiling is mildewed in places and needs re-doing
Minor:
- Towel rack replaced
- Toilet and sink to be re-sealed
- Shower curtain rod and shower head need to be permanently fixed to the tile, if the tilework doesn't need to be re-done.
I live in a apartment style condo (apartment complex built in 1965 turned condo in 2007 I believe). There is one bathroom housing the orriginal tub. The tub is completely done: paint is peeling off showing grey tub material, and there is a plastic 5 piece tub surround including a gap all around the top of the tub that lets water in behind the tub when we have a shower (the gap is more substantial on the long edge of the tub). The walls in the entire unit are plaster, not drywall. The plastic tub surround will not seal to the tub (a gap formed the very first time the shower was used and in some placed is a big as 3/4 - 1 cm) I have re-caulked many times and the seal breaks after less than 5 showers, every time, no matter how long I let the caulking set. Now, there is duct tape over the caulking, very ugly and only semi efficient. After we have a shower, the tiles on the floor around the tub appear darker leading me to believe that water is pooling underneath the tile. The area of the discolouration of the tile had been getting bigger and bigger over the past few weeks but has improved since the duct tape "caulking" was put in place. The plaster nearest the tub just past the edge of the plastic surround, on both ends of the tub, has become very damp and is starting to fall away. There is a little bit of surface mold on the walls above the tub surround which I treat with bleach and mold treatment often (there is a working fan in the bathroom which is turned on during showers and left on for about 15 minutes after, and there doesn't seem to be a moldy/musty smell in the bathroom or anywhere else in the unit) The floor boards on either end of the tub are completely wrecked with water damage and mold (which have been treated with bleach many times)
The bathroom is small. Walk in through the door and the toilet and vanity/sink are directly in front of you against the back wall and to the left is the tub which spans from wall to wall (the tub is snug against three of the four walls in the bathroom), a very standard size and layout for an appartment bathroom.
What I want is the bathtub replaced and the wall surround replaced. I would like it done this year. I have had one estimate already where they were going to rip the tub out and the surrounding walls. Install mold resistant type drywall, a new soaker tub with a skirt, and tiles around the tub to the ceiling. This seems nice. We are not planning on staying in this condo for more that 3-5 more years, the complex is old, the neighbourhood is ugly, so I am not looking for anything extravagant or luxurious, I just want to fix the bathtub before any damage is done behind the walls.
I do not know if there is any damage behind the walls so far. We had a home inspection about 2 years ago when we bought the place and it was pointed out that there is old and minor water damage to the wall structure in the bottom of the hall closet whose walls adjoin to the wall of the end of the tub (not the end where the shower head is located) I think our bathroom may adjoin to the bathroom of the neighbouring unit.
Currently there is no shut off valve to the water supply to the tub, so if possible I would like to have one installed. Right now, to have the water to the tub shut off, the water in the entire 22-unit complex has to be shut off.
I am open to online estimates, but I do think it is best to take a look at the poor state of this pitifull bathroom. I have a day job and I usually get home around 5:30pm on weekdays, I'm off on week-ends. It would be best to have someone come by to take a look in the evenings or on the week-ends.
Approval from the condo board has been obtained for the renovation and I have spoken to my insurance broker about this and associated implications.
Basement suite apartment style condo, plaster walls, original tub and plumbing. This is not a whole bathroom job but only the bathtub and whatever is tied into this sort of reno.
This is the only bathroom in our unit, so in and out as quicly as possible please.
Please let me know if I have left something out, or if you require any other details. Thank you. ~Amiellie. July 17, 2009.
I need a bathroom renovated, the bathroom floor has some water damage. Everything needs to be replaced, tub, vanity, toilet, etc.
I also need the main floor flooring replaced. I would like to tear out the carpets and replace them with laminate. The living room alone is 320 sq feet and the remainder of the main floor (kitchen, dining, bathroom and hallway) are approximately another 300 - 400 sq feet.
I am looking to have this project complete by the beginning of November, it will not be done real fancy as this will be a rental property soon. It needs to be nice, but basic.
Two jobs:
1) Replace tub & surround, toilet, sink & vanity. 1960's era bathroom in downtown condo. Install tile (or suitable material) on floor. Requesting quote on labour only or labour + supplies. Have sourced products at Home Depot for around $1000.00.
2) Install laminate flooring throughout 690 sq ft property. Existing floor is painted concrete, with tile in entry/kitchen area (approx. 100 sq ft tile). I have sourced the product that I would like to install, looking for quotes on installation labour only. Flooring & underlay must be high sound proofing rating due to condo bylaws.
Bathroom renovation (and possibly kitchen renovation)
The house is a 1954 (1000 sq. ft.) bungalow located in the Ritchie area. The basement was completely renovated about 7 years ago.
I following work must to be done:
The bathroom needs to be torn down to the studs and replaced.
A new sink vanity will need to be installed.
The toilet and faucet don't need to be replaced. They are only a few years old, but the tub may have to be replaced.
In addition, I need to replace at least two windows and two doors.
The doors, windows, vanity and tub have not been purchased yet.
I am considering replacing counters and cabinets in the kitchen and replace the flooring, but this work is optional and will depend on price and timing.
I'd like to commence the renovation in October. The house will be empty during the renovation and financing has already been secured.

Hello. I would like to get some estimates for a renovation and a bathroom project. I am the owner of an old house in Ritchie. These are the details of the job:

- Take out the old tub and install a new tub with plastic walls and surrounds, faucet and a head shower, also a bathroom fan.
- Build a new washroom on the second floor, including the installation of a toilet, a shower enclosure, a sink ( with a vanity ) and the walls and door for the bathroom, also a bathroom fan. This has to include the piping ( drainage and water ) from the crawl basement to the second floor.
I can buy the following items: the tankless water heater, the tub with the walls and surrounds, the head shower, the toilet, the shower enclosure and shower head, the vanity and sink.
Thanks.

40 year old house, problem is a small 5"ft by 8"ft bathroom. The silicone corking has peeled from around bathtub allowing water to seep in and rot certain pieces of wood behind the splash wall and around the tub. We are looking for someone at the moment to acess the situation for repair and/or possible renovations and give us a quote.
We have 3 bathrooms that need to be updated. 2 bathrooms have a tub, toilet, and vanity and are approximately 100 sqft each. 1 bathroom has a standing shower, toilet, and small vanity area and is approximately 50 sqft. All bathrooms in good condition currently, but would like to "modernize" the look of each one.
Age of house is approximately 30 years old.
No real prior renovations have been done, just some minor repair work.
Looking for complete bathroom renovation. From demolish to build. Have about 90% of all items (tub, tile, cabinets, sink, taps) missing minor items like tape, drywall, sealant which is easily to buy. May be interested in putting a jet tub. Also a quote/repair for basement bathroom requested.
Can demolish by self if reduces the cost and time significantly.
Need someone to take off the old paint off our tub and repaint it, finish around the tile where the tub meets the wall and possibly put in shower doors.
2nd project is to remove the cabinet our of a bathroom, take off the old tile off the floor, find the leak that is leaking down to the basement, repiar it and then put in a new cabinet and retile the floor...possibly put in a new window in the bathroom and finish the wall. We will see how much things cost.
last project...putting siding and drains on two houses all the way around.
Good morning gentlemen,
I have a repair project where I need some numbers, as in cost estimate to see if i can afford now or later.
Problem: Discovered water leak from visible marks on basement bedroom ceiling. Ripped ceiling drywall (soaked) and found water seeping through main floor bathroom area. Removed toilet as pausible cause but not the source. Will leave toilet unattached until problem rectified.
Was entertaining removing tub and vanity and floor to facilitate contractor to attack problem without having to almost gut bathroom to pin point source of leak.
Would $1000.00 be sufficient to provide adequate repairs.
Thank you.
Would like to get a standard bathtub and tub surround removed and a replaced with a walk in shower with sliding glass doors. The shower is to be a standard type unit (seats not required, if required customer will use a portable shower chair) with ordinary shower sorround. The doors are to be a medium weight/quality. Shower could have a built in grab bar but not essential ( have a suction cut bar that can be reused.)

Hello,
I have 2 main sized bathrooms (small ensuite bath, and main bath) to which I would like slate flooring installation, baseboard replacement, and toilet resetting. I have the slate, but not the supporting products (grout, ahesive etc).
This project is for a duplex, built in 2007, located in the Rutherford area.
I have pets, but can be onsite when the installation is to take place.
I would like pricing information, timeframe for project start, and timeframe for completion of the 2 bathrooms.
Thank you in advance for your time in this matter.
Regards,
Verity
