A floor joist is cracked in two places about 6 feet apart. There is no obstructions, so there is easy access. I think it needs another 2 X 8 put along each side and attached by drilling holes and installing bolts and nuts.
Also, there is a missing 2 x 6 in a roughed-in doorway. It belongs on one side to hold up the header.

I recently purchased an acreage very close to Sandy Beach and am moving forward on the construction of a new shop (30X40). I am looking for an expression of interest from highly recommended framing crews. I am contracting the project myself and will be supplying materials. Blueprints are available if required.

Require a full assessment of or our upstairs floor/subfloor structure in our 13 year house. Loud popping and crackling noises are becoming excessive in high traffic areas and the problem seems to be spreading throughout the second floor. We had what was called a "silent floor" system installed when the house was built which is not very silent any more. Hopefully it is only a matter of replacing some bad sheeting, perhaps installing extra blocking and properly securing the new sheeting with screw and glue. I would hope to be able to save and re-install the carpet and underlay if possible.
