We live in a condo unit - building is 30 years old. I would like to replace our basement window with a new window. Will need to have someone cut the concrete and install the window (window to be provided by the contractor). Current window is 16" X 41". I am just looking for the min size that will meet code and provide better insulation than we have now. I will dig out the window well to allow the extra space for the new window style.
Please provide a quote that includes cutting the concrete and installing the window.
Hi,
I am looking to fix my broken front door side window. It is a double window, about 4 inches wide and 2.5 to 3 feet tall. The glass facing the outside is fine, but the one that is on the inside it broke. I guess combination with the cold from the outdoors and the heat from the inside. Anyway, this happend last year, but since the outside was not broken we left it. We cleaned up the broken pieces and all, but now I have my home up for sale and I need to fix the broken part. In between the glass, it has the white metal bars and that is just fine, I just need to fix the one that is facing the inside. Could you please give me an approx price according to the measurements that I have given you, and how long will it take to have the window fixed. What time line would I be looking at.
Thank you, and I look forward hearing from you and working with you.
Angela
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
- At our home our back entrance presently consists of a 32" wide wood door with full length glass along with a spring loaded retractable screen and we also have exterior roll shutters that are hand operated from inside the house by pulling / releasing a cord. Our existing door is old and weathered and retractable screen is damaged so we want to remove everything presently associated with this doorway including the old door, the retractable screen, the old door jamb assembly and the roll shutter assembly and replace with new. In it's place we would like a high quality preprinted door jamb assembly installed complete with a new prepainted high quality door with high quality locks and in place of the retractable screen we would like a high quality storm door with good quality locking mechanism installed. We would also like a new exterior roll shutter assembliy reinstalled over this doorway. The existing roll shutter is in good condition and works fine and could be reused but its unlikely it would fit over the new storm door, so I'm thinking we will need a new roll shutter assembly several inches higher and wider than existing to provide room for storm door to open. The only reuseable item I see is the interior door trim which is stained wood that matches the trim in the rest of our house, so care should be taken during demolition not to damage the trim.
SCOPE OF WORK FOR CONTRACTOR
1. The scope of work then is to supply all new materials including new high quality door jamb, new threshold, new high quality entry door preferably (4) hinge, new high quality storm door, new door locks (deadbolt and handle lock) and new roll shutter assembly. The old interior trim around door jamb should be saved for reuse but if for some reason it is not saved then new trim pre-stained to match interior house trim to be supplied. All materials to be approved by home owner prior to installation.
2. Prime and pre-paint (spray paint) with high quality marine grade paint all unpainted items such as new door jamb assembly, new threshold (if applicable) and new entry door.
3. Carry out demolition of existing doorway. Remove existing entry door, remove existing retractable screen, remove existing roll shutter assembly, remove existing door jamb and threshold,
4. Inspect doorway framing of house and replace / repair any damaged or missing areas / items.
5. Inspect siding on house where old roll shutter assembly was installed and repair / replace items if / as required.
6. Install new door jamb and threshold, align, shim and secure door jamb in place and insulate all around door jamb.
7. Install interior trim around new door jamb, reuse old trim if possible, if not reusing old trim then supply new trim and stain to match existing trim and install.
8. Install new entry door and hardware including deadbolt and locking handle.
9. Install new storm door, trim and locking mechanism.
10. Install new roll shutter assembly and test to ensure it operates correctly.
11. Clean up work area and haul away and dispose of all old items removed in demolition.

Replacement of a bay (box) window and part of a exterior wall. The bay window in question was installed 25 years ago. Over the years water has seeped into the wall and rotted the joists and the floor joist extensions. Repair would include: removal and disposal of the existing unit and the installation of a replacement window. Additional work required includes: new framing, floor joist extension replacement, roof repair (re-shingling of roof), removal and replacement of exterior vinyl siding, sheathing, insulation, shimming, rough drywall, capping if required, vapor barrier, caulking etc
In case there is damage to my stucco during my window replacement, am looking for a company to repair the damage. I have a home built in 1978, with white, and beige rock chip stucco.
Do you do these kinds of repairs, or know of anyone who does?
If you do it, would I just contact you to come have a look, and give me a quote per window, or what?
We have a 110 year old house that requires renovations in several areas.
Please refer to the drawing with special attention to page 4. The drawing includes additional details.
- dilapidated vinyl siding is currently on top of the original wooden clapboards. We would like to tear down the vinyl in order to install new sheathing and board & batten style hardie board around the entire home. As the property is quite old we may discover repairs that need to be conducted beneath the vinyl. Total siding area is approximately 1060sqft.
- a new door and window need to be cut/framed into an exterior wall, ideally this will be done in conjunction with the siding so that we do not have to coordinate between multiple contractors.
- standard window replacement in the 2nd floor bathroom dormer
- front entry door unit replacement
We would like to proceed as soon as possible but are flexible. We are also flexible on materials/methods
My company is seeking to develop a new roster of trusted contractors for reno and repairs in our two buildings in downtown Edmonton.
We are seeking plumbers, electricians, painters, roofers, door companies, garage door companies, etc... This is so we get fresh eyes on our buildings and so we are not stuck if others cannot perform the work by the deadline we set (say, an emergency that cannot wait 6 hours).
Reply and we will provide an application for vendor approval. Note, in order to perform work on our sites you will need proof of $5 million liability and WCB coverage (which can be provided upon being awarded work).
I live in a downtown condo near Jasper Ave and 110 st. I would like 2 interior doors replaced as they have holes in them. Doors are standard, white, hollow and measure 31 3/4" w x 80" h. I have pictures of the two doors (the pics were taken INSIDE the room so the doors swing inward) if you require as I would want the same ones installed. Looking for flat estimate on materials and labour.
I have windows & exterior door in my home that have been in since the house was built in the 70s.
There is a total of 10 windows that need to be replaced. 5 upstairs, 5 in the basement.
I would prefer triple pane but that depends on the price difference between double and triple.
I'm at the cost getting part of the project, I'm trying to estimate how much it will be to replace the 10 windows and 2 doors.
Please email me for more specifics.
We recently renovated our bathroom and took out the old window and replaced it with glass blocks. We require a contractor to install the flashing around only this one window. Unfortunately we have been unable to find a contractor and would really like to get this done ASAP before any humidity sets in. The window is approximately 24 inches x 32 inches.
Two triple-pane windows have lost their seal. Replacement panes to be triple-pane as well. The fixed window measures 24" x 54". The casement window measures 32.5" x 36.5" (measurements to be verified). Both are in wood frames that probably don't need replacement and have exterior aluminum cladding that will have to be removed and re-installed. Stated budget is per window.
We are experiencing water leaking from the windows dripping into the house every time it is raining hard and we suspect that some of our big glass windows are the problems. Please give me an estimate of how much does it cost to repair the leak and is there any way we can tell of how much moisture already in the drywall and the structure since past rains. The wall has 9 windows and the height of the wall measuring from the floor to the ceiling is about 35 feet. I am looking for online estimate and if possible I would also like to discuss with a contractor regarding project site inspection. Thank you very much. Our house is located in Edmonton North West area.
We have a condo with a glassed-in balcony. One of the sliding window on the balcony has come out of alignment ("popped out of its groove") and needs to be repaired. The glass is in tact and does not need to be replaced. The track needs to be repaired so that the window remains in alignment and the screen stays in place. We are on the 7th floor of our building.
1947 bungalow, need to replace 6 original upstairs windows with new windows of the same size, and at least 1 more in the basement. Job is to remove the old, supply and install the new ones. Dimensions are approx: kitchen 28"W x 41"H, living room 36W x 46H, bedroom 1 28W x 42H, bedroom 2 43W x 46H, bathroom 24W x 39H, foyer window 42W x 20H, basement 41W x 20H. Double pane is ok, would also consider triple pane; energy efficiency and security are both important in either case.
As I'm making some other improvements to my home, I don't think I can afford to replace all my windows in one go, but would like a quote on what it would cost to replace the two 2 x 6 windows (one on each side of the fireplace). I'm thinking I would like something energy effiicient that can be opened at the top or bottom for air flow (although the latter is not mandatory). Over time, I would like to replace the other 4 vinyl slider windows on the rest of the main floor and the 4 small sliders in the basement (bi-level). I do like the look of square mullions either at the top or on the whole window.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Anne
Replacement of existing bay kitchen window in a 1959 single storey bungalow with a wider window (approximate rough opening = 40.75" x 82.5"). See attached images. The new window to be vinyl framed, double paned, 2 units (fixed and 28" casement), with screen ... we can discuss the rest of the details in person, but this gives a rough idea of the window we're looking for.
Additional scope items:
Existing bay window trim panels need to be removed with window.
Exterior stucco needs to be cut to increase the window opening.
Exterior wall framing needs to be altered for this wider window.
Two options for project. We have already priced a Jeld-Wen window through home depot and can have it waiting at the house OR you can provide an alternate manufacturer / price with installation (please provide separate pricing for each item).
Attached photos give a good idea of the scope of work, but feel free to ask any questions.

My mom has a duplex home that was built in 1953. We were looking to replace all the basement windows and frames (wooden) and replace with energy saving windows or atleast something that doesnt look so old, there are total of 12 windows 2.5feet x 3 feet each. There are two basement suites so some windows will have to according to code.
I'm looking for someone to come and give me a rough estimate as to how much this will cost to replace and roughly when this job could be done by.
I live in edmonton, ablerta on the north side by the STADIUM LRT. i will give you my address but im not puting that here.
