My name is Nicole. I live in a 50 year old bungalow with my family; our youngest daughter is set to move out soon, and we want to turn our nearly- finished mother-in-law suite in the basement into a fully legal, functional basement rental, complete with fire/sound separation, separate entrance, etc so that when she moves out we can rent the entire basement. We also have a bathroom upstairs that is in dire need of a renovation, the shower area has been leaking for a long time, so the entire bathroom needs to be overhauled.

Our house, which is 104 years old has a cement basement put in probably in the '50s. There are no interior walls, just old and very messy cement, and we would like to put walls around the perimeter, incorporating insulation, and a ceiling. Some built in storage is also a consideration particularly in the laundry area. Currently there is nothing except the floor above and the beams. . There are three small high windows, which will stay as they are, and an odd assortment of water and gas pipes that will need to be worked around.
