Home built in 1987. I want to add 2 additional bedrooms down stairs. I will need each room to have an exit window. They will both need to be set into poured concrete. One will run with the joists and one against. I would like to use terraced wells like those made by 'Bilco' or 'Rockwell'. The rear yard in on an incline, so there may be a drainage issue also. I take possession of this East Abbotsford home on May 10th. If at all possible, I would like the job completed before May 18th.

In addition one sliding glass door and one front door. Looking for energy star rated windows with screens decent quality (like Jeldwen)doesn't have to be top of the line but comes with warranty and I am able to receive tax credits prov. and federal. My home has a cedar finish.
We require 2 windows to be installed into our basement which is currently completely underground. We have permits and are ready to hire. This job requires excavation, intstalling drainage, cutting concrete, installing windows, building window boxes. etc. We are looking for a contractor to come quote us on the job from start to finish.
I am looking to receive a quote to repair a Fire Exit Door.
There is a large amount of play in the linkage of the door closer where it should be solidly mounted to the top of the door frame casing. It is a commercial grade, fire rated door which means it is very heavy€and mounted in an equally heavy-duty door frame. The door closer is intended to allow the door to open easily and close securely, under control.
In my opinion, the door closer mount is close to failure as the door casing is damaged at the points of mounting. It appears that the door casing and perhaps the door frame itself is splitting and separating lengthwise compromising the whole unit. When it fails the door closer will stop working and the door will remain open necessitating an emergency repair for both Fire Code and building security purposes.
As I examined the whole window casing it is evident that there was some amateurish work done several years ago in adapting the door frame to either a new door or to a new door latching system. The door casing and door jamb has significantly deteriorated and is beginning to rot. Some feeble attempt was made to drive a second long screw through the door closer mounting plate- it appears that action has further damaged the door casing and jamb.
I believe the services of a qualified carpenter are needed in order to assess the degree of damage and repair or replace the door casing and perhaps the door jamb itself. The door closer should be able to be re-used once its mounting point is solidly repaired/replaced.
