The suite in basement of 15 year old single house is finished, but needs to be remodeled to up the codes for legalization. There is detailed assessment report from the inspector of Coquitlam city hall.
The following areas need work but not limited to:

basement of a townhouse, other units have 2 piece bathroom,

1) remove load bearing wall (12 feet long) Drywall has been removed. The purpose is to open up space to allow a pool table and media room. Basement was previously divided into many rooms. This involves moving plumbing in the wall.
2) Excavating 10 feet in side yard to add exterior stairwell and door. A 3X3 foot window is in the location now. Will involve cutting concrete.
We are open to other ideas. the goal is to get exterior access and create a teen-friendly space.

We would like one bedroom with a closet, a mud room, a media room and then a multi fuction room. It's in ground so therefore it's exposed concrete. I would like to create a legal basement suite in my 1960s house I just bought in central Coquitlam. We need to build two bathrooms and two separate laundry rooms. Want to create a door where window is and have steps down into house if possible instead of digging out concrete and having stairs outside.
