We have double wood exterior doors. The doors are beautiful but we don't get enough light inside the home. Instead of buying new doors, I was wondering if we can install full length glass in each door and also restain the door to a darker color. I also wanted to add moulding around the outside of the door.
The house is five years old.
I have an office that opens up the the home entry foyer. There is a door space that is 2x10 in which I would like a door installed.
To the left of that space is a window type opening to the foyer above a half wall. This space approx. 2 x 5. I would like glass installed here.
The house is newly constructed located in Coquitlam.
We have a few windows in our house that we want to replace with new double pane windows...
1. Our front large living room window
2. Our back large dining room window
3. The windows on either side of and above our front door (We'd like a smokey glass for this portion so you can't see through it).
We have damage to window casings, both vertical and horizontal trim casings. Most are relatively minor, and needs caulking and paint.
One has been severely damaged by a bird trying to build a nest and removed a large section of the window casing. I would like a repair which ensures the water barrier is intact, and recommendation on a material that would be less susceptible, such as aluminum or vinyl on top of the wood casing. For replacement of the severely damaged casing, possibly the use of a composite material versus wood may be an option.
The second story windows are hard to reach so difficult to maintain. Note that the windows are vinyl, and in a home that is about 18 years old.
Existing window wood trim surround is rotting, caulking has deteriorated and failed and water is leaking in two spots on soffit to porch below. Windows are ok. Home builder used painted plywood or OSB, in some cases with open joints.
- Wood trim (and flashing?) needs to be replaced on the upstairs front windows
- Roof is concrete tile
- Previous experience preferred, WSIB coverage
- Very rough estimate of windows: 5'-10" x 3'-10" (glass measurement) and 8'4" x 4'-4" (bay window overall measurement)
I am the property owner. I can provide additional details as requested.
