1956 house with old bathroom, needs repair/updating:
1. Replace tub, wall tile - grout around the tub is in bad shape, appears to be some rot in the wall behind the tile
2. Replace toilet, sink - ideally add 2nd sink
3. Replace vanity (5' long), add small cabinet above toilet
4. Replace old linoleum flooring, with tile or new lino
5. Repair some drywall damage, paint
6. Replace light fixture, with something like track lighting using existing electrical
7. Add bathroom fan
Small bathroom measuring approximately 5' x 6-1/2'. Demolition of existing bathroom is complete down to exposed studs. New bathroom to have open concept "wet room" all tiled, sloped to wall with trench drain. Plumbing is already arranged, but we need someone to put up the new walls and to tile the room.
I intend to renovate the guest bathroom. The main problem is that the shower tub which loses calking very fast has started moving around (the shower base is acrylic 32”x32” and it is not stable anymore). I am not sure if water already got behind the walls, but I must fix it as soon as possible. The bathroom is relatively small (25sqft). Redoing the shower tub with a modern water proofed system is the main goal (something like Schluter systems). No more standard shower base. I would also like to upgrade the light fixtures, the counter, the ceiling fan, maybe the toilet tank, and to repaint. If any plumbing upgrades would be required will do that too. The ceiling would require some fixing since the bathroom was recently flooded by my neighbor upstairs. The building is 11 years old, concrete frame and wood. No apparent renovations have been done here. The floor is tile covered. I don’t need anything fancy, only to make it safe, easy to maintain and functional. Simple and clean design. I can provide you with a plan and some photos. At this point I am mostly interested in getting the quotations, check the accreditations and pick the contractor. Only contractors that are fully insured, WCB, and willing to get all the permits please.
standard sizes , older bath tub and toilet and sink and counter top. Replace with new, white (or)?
Probably need to remove tub enclosure(?)
Tiling and grout seem ok? Opinions(?)
can send photos on your e mail (download on this file failed)
is also being re-painted (not part of this job title)
I am preparing to sell my apartment in a 40 year old building. The bathtub and surrounds are in pretty bad shape, and I need to have repairs done. The job will likely involve:
- Repair or replace bathtub
- Replace bath surround (currently plastic)
- Replace flooring
- Replace Vanity
In addition, there are a few minor repairs to be done in the apartment, including small drywall repair and replacing a cracked mirror in the closet door in the hallway.
The contractor I hired to do a cosmetic only upgrade on this bathroom failed miserably, everything he did had to be taken out again. I am out of pocket $15k so need to keep my costs down to reinstall the bathtub and wall board around the tub, my son can do the tiling floor and wall. A permit for the plumbing will be needed. This is a very ordinary b-flat 35 year old bathroom. If there is anyone out there who can help me I would appreciate hearing from you. So you know I have filed in court against the contractor.
Many thanks.
Outdated and bathtub in disrepair, looking to demo tub and replace with new tub, large sized tiles/pattern for wall (~55 sq ft), just the tub area and surround three sides. Plumbing as required, fixtures including tub would be supplied.
looking for labor quotes and any other materials or items missed.

2. Bathroom toilet and sink drain replacement

We recently purchased a condo (built in 1972) where the bathroom left something to be desired.
Our goal is to fix up the shower/bath area. Here is a list of problems we have and a list of things we'd like to do.
It currently has the following issues:
- Water drains slow
- Valves are leaky (hot water drips out constantly)
- Finish is peeling off in tub
- Old tiles appear to be painted over
- Shower head too low
- No water shut off valves for bathtub
What we'd like to do:
- Add water shut off valves for the shower plumbing (inside a wall panel, if possible)
- Replace the bathtub and some of the drainage plumbing
- Determine why the water drains so slow and potentially fix it
- Replace tub valves and plumbing that connects them
- Replace shower head to a detachable one that can mount high up for taller people
- Replace tiles to something nicer
Notes:
We do not have any water shut off valves for the bathtub water lines. The strata is shutting down the building's water during the day on Monday, September 17th, so this is probably the best day to install some water shut off valves in our suite. I'm hoping we can keep them in the wall behind a metal panel or something similar.
The water pressures between hot and cold in our strata are pretty wonky, so I'd like the new valve in the shower to be temperature controlled such as the Moen Posi-Temp technology.
The existing bathtub is a standard one, and we would like to replace it with another standard bath tub. Nothing fancy.
We are really hoping that the slow draining water is an easy fix, but at the very least we'd like to be able to go to the strata and tell them what is wrong with the plumbing so that we can possibly get it fixed. It seems like the water takes more than 10 minutes to drain after a 10 minute shower, to give you an idea. Maybe pulling the bathtub up will help give some options for diagnosing the problem.
Essentially we want a brand new basic bathtub/shower/plumbing that works the way it should.
My mother has been recommended for this home adjustment by the occupational therapist- who will be applying to DVA for the funding. DVA requires at least two quotes - and I assume that their decision is based on cost. I am not sure how long the approval process is- work can start once it is approved.
Changing a cupboard into a bathroom for licensing.
We need whole remodelling adding two toilets two handbasins child size
One handbasin/storage adult size
diapering change area
Basement of church - cement floor will most probable need raised flooring - plumbing for sink nearby but not plumbing for toilets
If can not put toilets down there an adult handbasin and diaper station will pass regulations.
