Approximately 1750 sq. foot rancher, circa 1971. Currently has aluminum siding with poor insulation. One corner of house has only Tyvek from a previous renovation involving moving of windows.
We want to replace with Hardie board with new insulation.
Time frame- May-June 2009.
Prefer a contractor who has worked with Hardie board before.
Onsite estimates preferred.
We have just bought a hertitage home (built 1912) in Port Coquitlam. Although there is an incredible amount of work to be done, our major concern is the wood rot on the side of the house in the basement, just under the main floor. It has caused the exterior wood-siding to buckle and, although my husband denies it emphatically, I think it's progressively getting worse. This is an old house, which, we are told may have been built using the 'balloon' method of construction, rather than today's framing method. I believe that in order to repair the damage, the house needs to be braced in the basement, so that the rotten wood (structural beam or sill? not sure of the proper terminology) can be removed and replaced, as well as new siding (only in the applicable area). We do not want to reside the entire exterior at this time.
Hope you can help. I look forward to your reply. Cheers,
Deborah
