We'd like to have our back deck (2nd floor) rebuilt. This would include taking down the old one. The current deck size is approximately 10" x 20". We'd like: wood floor, or solid floor so no water leaks through cracks to downstairs tenants, wood railings, privacy screen on one side of deck, and new stairs built.
Hey everyone,
Have a ground floor apartment in kits and it's got a 16'x32' back yard. Not a perfect rectangle with the building jutting out in a couple spots but rectangular for the most part. The unit to our right has put up a fence to enclose their area and we'd like to do the same to start. The ground is currently a mix of gravel, a small concrete area, and dirt. It's a little ugly it's rather uneven, the gravel is sparse and you can see the black plastic material below in certain spots. We were thinking that with the irregular shape and some small trees against the far wall, putting a deck down over the whole thing would be the easiest solution.
Estimate?
All decks are on the second floor of a row of townhouses and need to be done at the same time. Each decking is approximately 6'x15'.
1) Demo (for entire 8 units)
There are dividing panels between units which need to be removed/set aside all (best attempt made to keep panels intact!)
Remove existing wooden deck flooring
Remove/dispose deck railing if deemed necessary (leave the posts on)
Remove/dispose all torch on deck membrane
Remove/dispose (3) rows of cedar siding, where siding meets deck to allow for vinyl decking to flash up wall
2) Vinyl decking (for entire 8 units)
Supply/install 6mm vinyl decking with all flashing
3) Carpentry (for entire 8 units)
Supply/install new plywood top for deck
Supply/install 1x10, pre primed comb face cedar to where siding removed
Reinstall/replace privacy panels
Supply/install pressure treated wood decking for each unit, 5 1/4 x 6, on pressure treated sleepers
OPTIONAL DEPENDING ON PRICING
4) Sliding Glass Door Replacement for each unit
Remove/dispose sliding door
Supply/install framing to give doors higher threshold, to protect against water ingress
Supply/install (1) door, vinyl, sliding, custom size (78" high)
Supply/install new comb face trim around doors
The backstairs were incredibly rotten and replaced last fall and at that time the carpenter replacing the stairs for me found rot at the edge of the deck and one of the posts at the bottom of the stairs as well as one of the step struts on the front stairs. The deck was replaced just over 10 years ago when the house had major renovations.
Hello,
I am preparing to move back to Vancouver where I have a townhouse. I require a quotation for the installation of sleepers (only the structure. Deck surface by others) for a deck structure as per the attached. The deck is to be right at grade, and my thoughts were to have the structure lay across the top of an existing concrete deck and then slightly below grade placed on compacted fill/sand (pressure treated/moisture tolerent). The current yard surrounding the existing deck is hard packed dirt topped with pea gravel. The yard area is appximatly 16' x 12' (max!).
I appreciate this is a fairly small job, but if you could kindly indicate the price to do this or even a day labor rate, I would appreciate it.
Best regards,
Vicki
Job entails redoing the vinyl and wood railings on three second-floor decks. Two decks are estimate 3' x 6', larger deck is 9' x 12'9". For the larger deck we are considering building a raised wood deck on top of the new vinyl - if possible, please quote on building a cedar deck. Project covers work on both homes of a duplex, and directly with the homeowners.
Hello,
I am building a new deck that will require demolition of existing deck, add footings and pour a new concrete slab under the deck. Add new roof attaching to existing roof. Replace existing asphalt shingles of house at the same time when adding roof to deck. Install trex decking and railing. Soffits and pot lights under deck roof. Add landscape tiles to surrounding area.
I have architectural drawings and engineering drawings prepared and submitted to City of Vancouver for permits.

Welcome,
We post a listing for a deck that sits over a living space. Currently seeking 2 qualified individuals, able to tear off, waterproof bldg. perimeter, create slope, re-sheet, install cant strips and various guard assembly details. Given Vancouver has limited opportunity for consistent weather, time is sensitive.
Forward your letter of intent and please keep it short and to the point. Don't forget to include your contact information.
Thank you for your interest.
Would like to create a fence on perimeter of backyard (33wide x 55long x 6tall) with an access gate for cars against the lane. Two additional sections (one 10ft, the other 12ft) needed inside the yard perimeter with two gates. All perimeter fencing to be built on concrete retaining walls. Metal brackets already in concrete. Would be very interested in a power gate for the car access in the lane.
Build a floating deck in the backyard of my condo in East Vancouver (ground floor unit with easy lane access). Approximately 150-200sqft cedar deck, sitting partially over a concrete slab, built close to the ground. Cannot be attached to the building in any way. No railings or stairs required as deck will be enclosed within fence/building. Time-frame can be somewhat flexible. Loose drawings/photo attached.
At one time, my house had a wooden front porch. The porch was covered in concrete at one point without adding to the footing underneath. The porch has tilted away from the house.
The posts supporting the roof of the porch have been propped up (so that the roof is level).
The project scope is the removal of the concrete and old porch and rebuilding of a wood porch. 2 new footings will probably be required. The porch area is approximately 6' x 12' and is approximately 4' from the ground.
The project is in Vancouver and all bylaws will need to be complied with. The building permit is pre-existing.
Hi,
We own a detached home. We are looking for someone to install an air conditioner in a window frame in our master bedroom. Ideally, we would also like to use the same person to put down some stone/concrete behind the house to act as a small deck to put a table on. The size of the area is only about 6 sq ft and it's on the ground.
I take ownership of my condo on the 8th July, and before I move in I would like to build a fence on 1 side of the patio (approx 7' feet height and 4'8" wide) + a raised deck (approx. 6' long x 4' 8" width x 2 feet high).
A paint job of the condo (walls only) - living room, bedrm, 1 small wall kitchen, 1 small wall bathroom, 1 small wall entrance hall.
Handyman service to assemble Ikea couch and curtains installing.
Thank you and looking forward to see some quotes.

Existing deck in a Vancouver Special house. We are modernizing the appearance of the house, and want to replace the existing railings (vertical, aluminum, 30yrs old) with horizontal wooden railings (narrow slits) with vinly or aluminum top rail.
We are open to using new materials, such as RPL. We are also open to design input.
This would be for a back deck which is 24'x23'x20ft, and a front deck which is 3ft x 35 ft x 3 ft (all measures approximate).
We have two roof top decks in an apartment building downtown Vancouver. I have been in communciation with our strata council and they have requested that I submit a proposal to them at the next AGM. I have a bit of a catch-22 situation as I would like to get quotes from contractors but I have no idea on the amount of money we have to spend in order to get a quote.
The two roof top decks measure, apprx. 89' x 64' and 82' x 60'. What I have envisioned is some permanent picnic type tables, some lounge type chairs, shrubbery and plants, and corners with permanent high top tables with stools.
The decks have some planters and some sitting areas currently.
Would it be possible to get some kind of quotes, perhaps starting with $10,000 and up to 40 or 50 thousand? Again, I have no idea how much money we would be able to put towards this and of course, it would have to go to a vote.
Thank you,
Kim
