I have a 5 year old condo in Yaletown that I want to have the tile redone in the shower and the backsplash in the kitchen. For the bathroom I am deciding between stone slab or tile where the backsplash will likely be tile. It's a smaller project as it is a 700sf condo. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thx
Jason
house is approx 1700 sq feet in total. House is approx 50 yrs old.
There are 2 rental suites, the upstairs bathroom is leaking from the shower straight into the bathroom in the 1st floor suite.
Hillcrest Plumbing was in to fix the leak last week and they commented that the floor was very wet, and needed to be addressed ASAP as it's very soft and risk that the tub could go right through the floor. They basically band-aided the problem for a while. Tenants are not using the upstairs bathroom right now. There is mould in the floor and the wood is extremely soft.
Upstairs bathroom is approx 10x10; bottom floor bathroom is approx 6x10.
Looking for a low-cost solution as it is an old house and a rental, but do want it done properly.
Please advise ASAP, as looking to have someone come and scout it out as soon as possible.
Hello,
I have recently replaced my plumbing fixtures and now need to repair the drywall and re-tile. I am looking to get a quote on the following. I have most of the material needed but there may be additional things as required that I have not considered.
1. Repair existing drywall - would be open to removing the drywall but would have to discuss the option as the side wall is a common wall if remove would require the building inspector to come out and view prior to tile work commencing and may require the drywall to go from floor to ceiling to be in line with updated building code, however the inspector has been out to view as is and advised that wouldn't be necessary if I the wall does not come down. Given that I would prefer if possible for the latter to happen.
2. Re-tile shower/tub area to ceiling
3. Re-tile and remove existing back splash
Below are some rough measurements of my bathroom area. As well as some photos of its present state.
Shower/Bath Area
5.8ft height
5ft length
2.8ft depth
Backsplash Area:
3.5ft height
5ft length
Bathroom total:
7.5 height
7.5 depth
5 ft length
Some tiles are chipped out of the wall, and some cracks are visible on the grout. This total damaged area is approximately 2-3 square ft. So I'd imagine some re-grouting would be needed and possibly removing and replacing other tiles too as necessary.
Age of condo: 10 years old.
Site visit will also be appreciated.
We are renovating 2 bathrooms in a condo in Yaletown and are looking for someone to tile our floors (so the tubs can be installed) and then tile the walls of the shower area in the ensuite, and tub area in the main bathroom. We also have tile for the kitchen backsplash.
All tile is on site.
As soon as possible!
Thank you!
Ryan
Hi there.
We are a renovation company looking for tile contractor for several jobs, but one in specific:
- 58.15 sq.ft. of tile in the floor (Probably 1x2' size)
- 142.4 sq.ft tile on the wall (to be decided - either subway or smaller)
The tricky thing is that we probably have to make a custom shower floor with a custom shower curb. All in tile, with four slopes towards the drain.
Also, the drain is not centered, so the Schlulter shower tray will either not work, or it will have to be adapted.
* In this washroom, possible heating serpentine +membrane - please quote extra.
* If the installer also does the waterproofing system (DenShield, waterproofing membrane), this will also be appreciated.
There is a second bathroom in the same renovation that is much simpler and can be discussed separately.
Again, we are looking for a trade/ installer to be working with us on all the other projects. Right now we are trying to find someone who does a good job, is respectful, and has good communication.
New bathroom ready for tile work to commence. The scope of work includes:
1. Install 136 Sq.Ft. of wall tile. 1'-0" x 2'-0" wall tile supplied by owner
2. Install 4'x5' NuHeat electric floor mat. NuHeat mat supplied by owner. Coordinate with Electrician for installation of thermostat and testing prior to membrane installation.
3. Install 32 Sq.Ft. Uncoupling membrane at floor area. Membrane supplied by owner.
4. Install Schluter Kerdi tape at all uncoupling membrane edges and window surround. Kerdi tape supplied by owner.
5. Install 32 Sq.Ft. floor tile. 1'-0" x 2'-0" floor tile supplied by owner.
6. Install brushed aluminum edges at all exposed tile edges (approx. 37 Ln.Ft.) and door transition.
8. All thinset and mortar supplied by Contractor.
9. Supply and install grout to new tile work. Grout colour to be chosen by owner.
10. Clean up before and following tile work.
Please provide an online estimate. I will contact interested Contractors to schedule site visits for a detailed quote.
I need to replace the tiling around my bathtub as a previous renovation did a very poor job and moisture has been located behind the tiling. I may also replace the bathtub. The tiles need to be removed and redone. I do like the style of tile and would prefer to keep it, but I want water to stop penetrating the surface. There is also a shelf built into the side that does not drain properly and holds water, which increases the chance of water seeping in.
We have two suites where the bathtubs have been retiled - one in Sep 08 & one in Sep 09. We did not realize that after the retiling, the tiles were not sealed. In the first suite the grout is now falling out and turning color. That is not happened yet in suite #2
1. would we have to have the whole tub retiled again in suite #1 or can we just seal?
2. is it too late to seal the tiles in suite 2?
3. what would the estimated cost be?
4. we need it completed by April 2.
Vancouver West End apartment currently undergoing renovation. Require installation of approximately 60 sq. ft. of tile around existing tub. Old tiles have been removed, plumbing completed and walls reconstructed ready for tiling. New tile is 4" x 16" subway tile plus accent strip of mosaic tile.
Additional tile installation - Approximately 20 sq. ft. of kitchen backsplash - also 4" x 16" subway tile.
Tile and schluter strips are on site. Installer to supply adhesive and grout.
Project is well underway and due for completion by end of July.
This project involves painting the walls of our 2 bedroom condo, total of 780sf (excludes the 2 blue accent walls, keep those as is) and the estimate should include any priming or sanding necessary. The walls were painted fresh in May 2010 but we're looking to change the colour to a more neutral one. Please include an optional price for baseboard painting (which are found in every room).
Dimensions: (~7' ceilings)
Living Room - 14'7" x 12'2"
Dining Room - 9'6" x 7'6"
Master Bedroom - 11' x 10'
2nd Bedroom - 10'7" x 10'
Kitchen - 9'9" x 7'6"
Bathroom - L shaped, roughly 55sf
The second part of the project involves the labour of putting in backsplash (we will purchase the backsplash, contractor to purchase grout/mortar) in the kitchen to cover up the red colour.
We prefer one contractor for all the work and don't hesitate to email to schedule an appointment to have a look this weekend. I'm looking to start in the next week or so.
Hello, I live in downtown Vancouver.
1. I would like crown moldings and door pediment installed in my 1 bedroom, 600sq apartment.
2. I would like to take out existing back splash and install white subway tile
3. I would like to take out existing bathroom tiles, (there are just around the bath tub) and install white subway tiles in all bathroom walls. possibly change the floor tiles too. It's probably around 70 sq, standard apartment size.
Depending how each project costs, I would like to decide whether I do all of them at once or one at a time.
Our small 17-unit building in East Vancouver has one elevator, approx 5' x 6' floor, currently carpeted. We want to have the carpet removed and replaced with either vinyl or tile. I am looking at gathering quotes to bring to our strata so we can get going on this project.
Thanks for your time.
Hi there,
I'm looking for a contractor to handle an ensuite bathroom retile project.
An inspector's moisture meter found water behind the shower stall tiles. The shower door leaks (onto the floor outside the shower) and the floor tile outside the shower isn't in great shape. Definitely interested in replacing the shower tiles. May be interested in replacing shower door and retiling the bathroom floor if necessary.
We're not looking for anything fancy. We just want to stop the moisture problem behind tiles.
Pictures attached.
We're located near Jelicoe/SE Marine (River District)
Thanks very much for your time. Let me know if you have any questions about the work we'd like done. If you could provide us with a quote and timeline for this type of work, we'd really appreciate it. We're looking for the work to be done ASAP.
Thanks a lot.
Cheers,
Derek
INSPECTOR'S FINDINGS:
SHOWER STALL \ 3.9
Condition: Moisture meter indicated water infiltration behind tiles. Probable hidden damage to substrate (likely gypsum wallboard) and possible damage to wood framing members. Replacement of shower stall is recommended.
Location: Second Floor Ensuite Bathroom
I have a completed tiled back splash for my kitchen area but the installer left some very bad cuts. On three corners. It looks like he didnt use a wet saw put clipped away access tiles. Wondering if it possiable to replacing these tiles or to redo the whole back splash. Been told to remove these titles myself but worried about pulling the drywall away and may course more problems
These are glass tiles
Strata building in Kitsilano has a 4 storey exterior metal staircase with peeling paint, rust and cracked tiles.
We're looking for a general contractor to:
Step 1 - remove rust, repaint the stairs,
Step 2 - replace old tiles new ones or with concrete.
Step 3 - if it's within your skillset adding a roof to it.
Based on previous roof quotes, the roof would need to be roughly 10'x10'.
The state of the stairs can be seen in the attached images.
Thank you.
Bogdan
Our project will involve 1000 - 2000 sf. of tiling work on both the floor and wall of our vancouver interior.
Currently we are in the design phase of the project and the plans include both 2" glazed
brick facing tiles as well as standard ceramic tile.
We are looking for someone who has experience with cutting and cladding brick as well
as a tiler who would be able to see through one of our projects.
What we need to go forward in this project is a cost estimate for the install of these tiles.
Thanks.
