This company rips off its employees and customers. I hired and pre-paid a %50 down payment for a job that barely got started. 3 employees did show up at one point. It was then that I learned that Rick was promising his employees a decent pay but not giving them a cent.. He was always coming up with excuses. I kept in contact with a previous 'business partner' of All About Construction only to learn Rick took off with thousands of dollars to renew his wedding vows!
So he didn't pay his workers, he didn't buy material and didn't complete any jobs.
I'm not sure what kind of person it takes to burn so many people but Rick is him!
Stay away from this company as a customer, client or employee. And please people report him he needs to pay for what he has done.
Well it is very hard to explain all that we have gone through with this Company-at this point in time they completed to 85% the first contract (site clean-up and removal of junk), and 50% the window install contract-did nothing but charge us and give us a bogus refund cheque for the last project we signed on for them to do (siding and shingles). Like everyone says-Richard and his father Bert are great guys but they hire non-certified untrained workers and leave them in "charge" when they should not! Would love to get our money back but assume it is long gone-all around we have photos to back up all of their work and incomplete jobs-DO NOT TRUST these guys to measure, order or install anything!!!! Hope the young guys that were trying very hard to learn the trade get into a better outfit than this one!
Please be very careful with this company. They are a very shifty organization, Richard Pombert is a nice fellow and understands construction; however, he allows his "employees" to run job sites which have little to no experience. Richard is very Courteous and will always have an explanaiton for everything.
We hired Richard and All About Construction in July 2011 to install Vinyl Siding, Decks and Rails. We purchased all the material in July and as of December 2, 2011 we have a 50% complete Vinyl Sided Building, No Rails and No decks.
Richard hired sub-contractors (Verbally) and did not pay any of them for up to 6 weeks. Many of his "employees" have no employment contracts and have also been unpaid, I have been contacted by 5 of them. Our building is subject to liens from the sub-contractors for which we have had to pay. Richard hired sub-contractors at a rate hirer than that of which we were to pay him. In my personal opinion it appears to be a pre-meditaded scheme, however, we will allow the Police to get to the bottom of it.
We were invoiced material that was sent to other job sites and material that was delivered to our job site has been taken off site by All About Construction.
Richard was evicted from his office location and has changed all this phone number, his current number is 587-926-3381 and one of his former employees has indicated he is in the process of moving to Northern Ontario.
WCB has also sent us a formal demand for payment.
Anyone who requires additional information or wishes to share any information on Richard - please feel free to contact me.
All About Construction (AA Construction) is a business that should be avoided if you want your work done promptly, as promised in their contract, and correctly! My father signed a contract with them and paid for 50% of the total cost at the same time. Clint Lechelt, the estimator and person who wrote the contract, assured my father that he would oversee the work and be dropping by to check on the progress. That never happened. The contract stated the job would commence Sep. 7/11 and be completed by Sep. 10/11. No one showed up, or even telephoned on Sep. 7. On Sep. 8 a worker showed up after 4 p.m., with no tools or material, and left by 5 p.m. On Sep 9, a Friday, two men came after 10 a.m. and one, named Josh, left for 1.5 hours for a doctor's appointment. When Josh returned he lazed in a chair on the patio and talked with the other worker. My father had to supply a ladder as they didn't bring one adequate to reach the height (specified in the contract). They both disappeared at 3 p.m. No workers came the next week and I called AA several times and spoke with Clint, Paul, and Deborah (the receptionist).
They told me everything was done and ready to paint. My father reported that not even half of the work was done and it certainly was not ready for painting. They agreed to have workers come out again on Friday, Sep. 16, but when they didn't show and I called again, I was told Josh had a "family emergency" that morning (another Friday problem). After many more phone calls and assurances received from Paul and the receptionist (which never materialized) some workers finally came to finish the work the last week of September. Of course, they were also told to pick up a cheque for the remainder of the contract before they left. So a 3 day contract turned into 3 weeks of frustration and time spent on the phone with AA Construction for me, and anger and anxiety for my father, who was told to expect them to show up each day or he would receive a phone call, as promised by Paul. He never received any phone calls from anyone at AA Construction. Since the painting was finally completed in cold temperatures last week (versus the warm temperatures we had from Sep. 7 to 10) , the house will most likely have to be re-scraped/sanded and repainted next year! Needless to say, we do not recommend All About Construction. They are the most unreliable business I have ever dealt with. I also believe they charged my father double what the work they did was worth!
I am sorry you feel this way - but you will not have to pay to redo it next year - if the paint job peals or has problems you have a 3 year warranty with us and we will look after the issues and in actual fact the job should have been 1/3rd higher than it was , also we did give Lorne a seniors discount and at the end of the job we took another 300.00 off for the inconvenience he faced, the work got done and it looks great . we did some extra work with the brown stain that we did not charge for as well , and as well we can't help the weather (can't paint in the wind/rain/fog ect.) again thank you for the work.
We're one of their victim's too. Took the money and ran. AAC left us in a mess and won't return our balance owing for suppies and work not completed. We hired them to start work July 6, 2011 and we still have next to nothing done. I called this morning and the owner richard hung up saying he would see me in court. This was because I was letting him know in now uncertain terms we wanted the money back they owe us TODAY or we will start legal action. The story continues...... I will update my review when I have more time. UPDATE: Richard A.J. Pombert Albert Pombert Bert Richard Pombert The names above are all Richard Pombert owner/manager of ALL ABOUT CONSTRUCTION CORP. We are taking legal action against this company and person. My husband and I contracted with this company to renovate a room in our basement. Contract Commencement Date - July 6, 2011 Contract Completion Date - July 31, 2011 - they said about 3-4 weeks to complete. We have paid 23,340.00 to All About Construction Corp.. As of Wednesday, October 5, 2011 we had finally had enough and called Richard Pombert - owner/manager - to let him know we wanted our balance owing for products and services not delivered and incomplete. They have left us in a mess and have done damage to our property among other in-competencies -- new fireplace and breaker panel issues. In our phone conversation Wednesday, he basically said he would cooperate but that was just another lie. He had and has no intention on refunding what he owes us. Called Richard again Thursday, morning October 6, 2011 to meet with him and go over the paper work. As I said above he has no intention to refund. I told him what he was doing was theft and fraudulant and he should be arrested. He responded by telling me I can't talk to him like that and we would have to see him in court. Other problems with this outfit. - recovering alchoholic drinking on site. this same person threw a chimney off our roof (ripping up our immaculate lawn), leaving a co-worker stuck in the chimney, and frying our brand new breaker panel leaving us without power and not telling us until we went to turn on the lights; and the hits just keep on com'in. There is so much more I could go on and on and on.... They owe us $17,000.00 + for work not done, materials not delivered and damages to property including electrical and fireplace issues. Not only do the do these types of things they take advantage of employees; they don't pay them. There are a whole lot of suspicious activities this company is up to. It seems the have another company called Hide and Seek Inspections -- pretty ironic and frightening.
My husband and I live in Calgary and own a rental property in Edmonton. The property required extensive cleaning and repairs after our tenants were evicted. We were contacted by All About Construction via handycanadian.com and hired them to complete work such as wall repairs and painting, flooring, foundation inspection, window replacement, plumbing repair, electrical upgrade, cleaning, and carpentry work. Clint and Rick were professional and courteous, always keeping us up to date on the progress of the repairs. Clint even drove to Calgary to meet with us, review the work order, and patiently answered all the questions we had. The work was completed on time and on quote. They went above and beyond our expectations to make sure we were happy, satisfied customers. This company has a strong work ethic, excellent customer service and a personal touch. It was a pleasure working with them and I would recommend them to anyone.
It was great working with you, look forward to working with you again in the future , if you have any concerns .
Rick
This man represented himself as one of the few companies accredited with the BBB. I found out after a month of bs that this was a lie. Work done was done incorrectly, was not done in the time frame he stated, and garbage left everywhere. Cheques were bounced for purchases, men quiting because of no pay, etc. I eventually fired him after a month of getting the run around, being lied to, no return calls, etc. I wouldn't reccommend this company to my worst enemy. The person who referred him to me, is now making it up by doing the work himself, this person use to be a partner(no longer) and when he was; the work was awesome and done correctly Im told. Even viewed pictures of some projects they did. The owner, Rick; was quite nice and presented himself quite well when I met with him and signed the contract, and gave him a down payment. I thought right on professionals that seem to know what they are doing, didn't know my renovations would turn into a total nightmare. As for their review on qualified personell........took two days to build a closet, small wall, and corner tv centre. That is just framed not completed as well! You decide! There's more but Im sure I've mentioned enough to get a clear and better picture.
we are sorry you feel this way , there was a lot of work completed on this site and was done well, I'm sorry she was frustrated with the find and she didn't want to pay for the electrician bill, se said and told us to look after things when we found a massive electrical fire / fires - we called a master electrition who came out and did amazing work , and the client refused to pay the contractor, the funds that we in trust for cupboards was used to pay the electrition , diane the client was in a confernce call with rick and the electrician, and she still refused to pay the bill, then a few phone calls later she said she was willing to pay 5000.00 only on a bill that was 6500.00 we did work on her home and there are thousands of dollars of material on site that have not been paid for yes we have the deposit - and the deposit for cupboard that we used to pay the sub trade's - this client as we were all working on her home had the nerve to light up a joint (pot) and smoke it as the crew was having there lunch. every time this lady writes a nasty comment some where the story is different - btw we told here we quit and word figure the bill out and charge her cost for our materials on her site only. if we owed her we would refund , and if she owes us we would like to collect . we don't need this headache. she thinks that she's friends with one of the previous owners and was a friend of the owners she would get work done for free - we made exxtenitons on a trailer roof to create soft and facia like a real home . - rick & paul
Contacted by group via this site for a leaking shower & met up with very punctual & courteous Clint. He suggested a work plan along with time frame of 3 days and I got a quote via email. I called them Aug 29 to arrange for work to take place and spoke to someone who introduced himself as one of the owners. He reiterated that work would take 2 days and confirmed the shower would be out of commission for that time and up and running for our tenant by day 3. We proceeded to arrange a hotel stay for our tenant for 2 nights. Called the All About Construction office Sept 1 to let them know that our tenant would be there to let workers in and give them a key (rather than leave the keys in the mailbox as the receptionist had instructed) and asked the receptionist, would they be there at 9am because if not, I didn't want the tenant to have to wait and I wanted then to drop off keys at their office. I was brushed off and told that if that's what was arranged, that's when they would show up.
Sept 6 arrived and I checked in with the tenant at 9:45am to discover there was no one there. Called and spoke with same receptionist who informed me that things happen and Randy was trying to get smaller jobs done first before they came to our site. Reminded her of our tenant waiting for the workers so she went to check on the situation, coming back to say that they would definitely be there before noon. I asked that he give me a call if they'd be later - our tenant had to work that day and couldn't wait.
I received a call at work from the tenant - the worker had come at 2pm, looked around a few minutes and didn't do anything and said he would return the following day so we wouldn't need to put her up at the hotel for the night. My husband spoke with Mitch, and apparently, their employee estimated the project would only take one day and that's why it wasn't started that day. We were able to scramble and cancel the booking that night without charge, fortunately, but this was irritating to say the least. My husband asked that he be called upon the completion of the job the next day so that we could get the keys back.
The job was started and completed on Sept 7 and we didn't hear from them. My husband checked the work later that evening and noticed two areas which hadn't been caulked in the shower - around the base and the first 1' of the single vertical seam - and he spoke with someone the morning of Sept 8 named Mitch requesting these two specific areas be addressed. Mitch was told that they still had the suite key and that they could go in on Sept 8 which Mitch himself agreed to do. He was told we were leaving for the weekend that afternoon, but to let themselves in. At 1:30pm, I took a call from Mitch calling to meet ask us to meet him at the unit to let him in. When I said I couldn't because we were on the road to our trip and reminded him that he had the key, he seemed a bit surprised. I instructed him to give the keys to the tenant if she happened to show up while they were there.
We checked the work upon our return on Sept 12 to discover the vertical seam had not been addressed.
We received a call from the office Sept 13 requesting payment. My husband expressed our concerns but by this time, had decided it was easier for US to do the caulking than try to deal with this group. He was told that they could send someone over to pick up the cheque and my husband requested that the keys be dropped off to save us the hassle of picking them up from head office. The fellow showed up today without keys and had no idea about them. Turns out that Mitch had given the keys to our tenant, but hadn't communicated this to anyone else.
I was extremely frustrated by this company and its lack of communication within the organization and the sense that they just didn't listen to any of our information which we conveyed to them to make everything smoother for everyone. I would not recommend this company to anyone at this time.
I'm sorry that you feel this way , everything we did there was a process, the base of the shower needed some concrete work and some pipe repair in order for the base to be level , the repair and reinstall is a process, as well as we were not informed of the hotel matter till after the first day , the shower was repaired in a timely matter according to the contract, our quality assurance manager was contacted that some chalking had not adhered to the material properly , that evening after hours we returned to site to remove the caulking and redo. this is a problem of reusing the componants the were removed and reinstalled, when we were complete the key was left with the main floor tenant. we believe that the job was completed in a timely manner according to our contract and agreement. yes i do believe there was a 1" piece of chaulking missing or shrunk we did offer to meet client at site touch-up the piece of caulking the owner said he would look after it , and payment was picked up from client . i do know there was some confusion about project for that we do apologize. but all in all the project got done, and payment was collected . thank-you for the opportunity to work with you .

All About Construction Corp. has received employee and/or sub-contractor complaints
Complaint: Well to anyone who reads these comments ....beware of thease guys they are a scam company for both workers and potential clients.
I worked for these guys and still have yet to get paid they up and did a weekend move out from site and left all their employees with pout work and without pay .
I am currently in a court battle with this contractor for my wages they also advanced funds from project owner from equipment (scaffolds) and turned around and sold it for profit
these guys are scam artists DON'T BE THEIR NEXT ....
Complaint: I worked for Mr. Pombert a few years back. i can atest to the fact that he does not pay his employees, he runs this company well he is on AISH, the work he does is very poor. he will hire people from temp agencies who have no experiance to save on cost. he charges a $10 a day tool rental fee, and also collects a fee from his employees for a "party fund" every week. Mr. Pombert continually takes advantage of customers and employees on a reguler basis. I quit working for him when he tried paying me $200 for a 45 hour work week, when my pay rate was $17 an hour. some of those hours were for keeping fire watch at a building on 124 street beside the Bosten Pizza. it is estamated that he still owes me over $600. i made a report with the labour board, and when they contacted him he lied to them about the tool rental fees and "party fund" so they left it at that. Mr Pombert can NOT be trusted, and should never be left to do any kind of renovation or construction work on ANY property! I will continue to boycot any and all (and there are many) companys this man owns and operates.
