I had an old furnace which was on its last leg. I had done my research and knew what I wanted. We had decided if viable, we would add air conditioning at the same time. I had 5 quotes come in and tell me they would give me what I asked for (specific type of modulating furnace and air) at a cost of about $16 - $20k
Al was my last quote. When I explained to him what I wanted, he politely mentioned he would not like to do it the way I had asked and then explained why. The type of furnace I wanted, I would not have received value due to the way my ducting was in the house. So it would be a waste of about $2k. For my air conditioner, I wanted it in a specific spot as I thought that was the best place to put it. Al educated me on the downside of doing it my way and provided an option which was easier and provided better ventilation for the AC unit as well as protecting it from dirt etc.
While he was at it he offered up a whole solution which included removing my electric hot water tank, installing an instant hot water supply, an air exchanger with heating and cooling coils in place of a traditional furnace along with a wall mount AC unit up and off the ground. The total cost coming in less than what others wanted for furnace and AC.
Al took the time to walk me through his logic fully explaining the pro's and con's of everything. There was no pressure to go one way or the other but lots of guidance backed up with evidence.
I liked the fact he was not afraid to tell me what I wanted was not the best solution for my home and then offer a much better option offering me more value and peace of mind. He even told me if I wasn't happy with his solution we would figure it out.
The install took about a day. When he left I had a lot more room (no 50 gallon hot water tank) and I had a very neat and tidy set up which not only looks great but has saved me on my gas AND electric bill. With is set up we run our thermostat about 1.5 degrees cooler and get the better than the same warmth than we did with the old furnace.
Would I recommend Al's Home Comfort?
Dam rights. He has done nothing but save us money, improved our comfort as well as the value of our home with great customer service.
Our boiler for our hot water radiant flooring system was not working properly. Al came out the same day and was able to replace the expansion tank with a more reliable version (it had been replaced already) and replace a faulty valve. He also made a simple adjustment to a noisy pump rather than replacing it before it really needed to.
Honest, quick service. I would call him again for any further work needed. Price was very reasonable. Cleaned up afterwards.
I've known Al since 2013, he's very courteous and sincere.
He's done plumbing under my kitchen sink, he's replaced a thermostat in my hallway
and done 2 hot water tanks. I would not want anyone else.He is extremely knowledgeable about products and above all else Honest.
They came to see the gas fired boiler that warms up water for the hot water heat system.
Milani and Checkpoint had been in and with a quick 10 min look, each one said the whole thing was shot and needed replacing for $12,000. And Checkpoint shut the system down with a scare story about a CO 2 problem. So we had no heat in winter time and we were in trouble
Al's sent their man out to us and he worked for an hour or so and declared this old boiler sound and only needing a real thorough scrubbing and vacuuming. However, he didn't do that work. Al's didn't charge, went away and said they'd come back to after it was cleaned to be sure everything was good .
We got Jeremy from Summer's cleaning to spend the hours needed to properly clean it.
And so now it is all good, because we believed Al rather than the other cheating Langley companies.

Outstanding and personable service! I called during after hours and that same evening Al came out and got our furnace working. We were not even charged extra for the evening call. This is the first person I would call for any heating problem!
Worst service I have ever received, we moved into a home that had an oil furnace and needed it removed. Al assured us it was simple and he could do it, and we were granted an extension on our home insurance, which didnt want to cover us with the existing furnace. On the day of the install, which was 2 days prior to the insurance being voided, no one showed or answered the phone for hours and at 4pm al finally said that they couldnt remove the old tank but could install the furnace. It was December and there was a cold front that was coming, it was supposed to freeze for the next wk, and i was heading out of town to work, leaving my pregnant wife at home with out heat, to which al said to just buy space heaters for the wk!? Anyways, we went with Gandy, and the service/install was quick and perfect. Also, Al isnt accredited to install Lennox which is the brand i wanted, nor is is he able to get any of the rebates from Terasen, since this encounter we have heard from others that he is a greasy scumbag as well.
