Paul and team provided us the most amazing 2 bed/ 2 bath basement suite from studs. It’s beautiful! He was there from beginning to end, didn’t subcontract anything out, dealt amazingly with the Corp of delta, and came through 100% on budget and timeline. After dealing with many contractors in our life, Paul under promised and over delivered! Now we have the happiest tenants of all time and we are absolutely thrilled with choosing Alsi for our project. Not only was he amazing with us and our children, he worked around our schedule and was here six days a week! I can’t say enough good things about this company, I would recommend them all day long. Thank you Paul and team for your amazing work! We are so appreciative of your perfection and attention to detail!!!
We consulted with many friends in Vancouver in order to find a contractor/builder, but not one was able to give a recommendation because they had had to get rid of their builder for one reason or another. Finally we looked on Trusted Pros. We were nervous about doing a renovation long-distance.
From the outset Paul was completely professional and took time to understand the brief. Over the next few months Paul completed each phase of the project on time. He was very patient and willing to give advice and options where he thought we could achieve our goal, while keeping within our budget.
Overall we were extremely happy with the work that Paul and his team did. Our place looks fantastic. We would not hesitate to work with Paul again in the future and highly recommend Paul and his team for any renovating/remodelling work. He was a pleasure to work with.
Paul and his crew completed my shower remodel this week! They put new tiles on the wall, installed new shower head, base and shelf. My shower looks better than a 5-Star hotel right now. The workmanship was excellent and Paul is a greater communicator as well. He consults with me to make sure that I understand the process and each step along the way. I highly recommend Paul and his team for any bathroom renovation or remodelling in Greater Vancouver. I look forward to working with Paul for my next project.
Paul and his crew at Alsi Construction removed bath fixture, wall to wall carpeting and freshly painted the entire condo. Paul's crew worked in a timely manner offered great suggestions for both cost cutting and improved design. Crew was punctual, worked hard and provided an excellent result. I appreciated Paul's European skills and would hire him and his crew again.
We researched contractors on line, e.g., Trusted Pros and Home Stars. We requested four contractors, including Alsi Construction (Paul), to provide us with a quote to renovate our master bedroom ensuite. We chose Alsi Construction and we were not disappointed.
Throughout the project, Paul would discuss next steps, indicate what options we had, and, at times offered valuable suggestions that we, more often than not, agreed to. He had all the right tools to ensure precision in his workmanship.
Paul was easy to work with. He exhibited patience, humour and was always a gentleman. Paul was easy to approach and discuss issues and options when we were unsure of what we really wanted.
We found Paul to be very honest, no “nickel and diming” and everything was as per the contract we agreed to. No surprises! The only negative is that project did take a longer than anticipated.
In the end, our new ensuite exceeded our expectations. We are very happy and have no reservations about recommending Alsi Construction to others wishing to make house renovations.
Alsi Construction gave us the ensuite of our dreams. Thank you.
It’s been almost two years since Paul and his team worked on our bathrooms reno, and everything still looks and works great. Nothing’s moving, broken or wobbly, no leaks, no cracks, no touch ups needed.
You expect your contractors to stay within budget and finish work by the deadline. Alsi Construction managed that perfectly, with a helpful and can-do attitude even after you’ve signed the contract. Throughout our entire process of renovating two bathrooms we were extremely happy to see that Paul and his guys had a very positive attitude, always willing to accommodate our requests and giving us advice and support to put our ideas into practice. Very happy with the end result and so happy with how the entire process unfolded. If you want a contractor that will actually help reduce the stress level that comes with doing a home renovation, then go with Alsi Construction.
A beautiful renovation. Paul came to our rescue after a bathroom emergency, and he completed our renovation on time, and on budget. The bathroom was completed with our exact vision in mind, and Paul even recommended a few changes and upgrades that did not disappoint. I will recommend Paul to everyone, and will likely use him again in the future.
We were extremely enthusiastic when we hired Paul. We knew one of the people who he'd done work for, as well as the reviews here. Towards the end we were disappointed and insulted.
We asked for a full gut renovation, specifically not a lipstick job, things were promised verbally, while things stated in the contract did not evolve or double charged in a contract that was extremely vague at the onset and when asked to be more specific was told "Don't nickel and dime me and I won't you."
Following is what we were left with after an initial completion date of July 20, then the week of August 5th and after August 23rd when he removed all his things and we had a chance to look around.
We were not advised of the initial delay until after we had arranged movers and given up our previous home, told "our problem". We changed to 2 weeks later and he promised work would be completed in the bedroom and bathroom so we could move in. When we came down, nothing had been touched. When we stated our disappointment, told we didn't see the work. We foolishly and reluctantly gave money owed in advance (because we were told he needed to pay for things, good faith) as encouragement for the work to be done by the second completion date, a week after we had already made payment as per contract.
During my time here, the place was a mess. I could not use my bathroom sink or kitchen sink as it was used for dirty paint brushes (solvent pitted my counter), lights that work during the day did not work at night, appliances not hooked up or hooked up incorrectly and to this day not one room is completed. When asked to touch things up that he had altered was told it was it was good enough, I was being "picky" and that he had finished or it was extra. He did not advise us of things that needed to be done stating that he was worried about our budget, promised to do things and didn't and then quoted the contract, stating that we wanted things for free, had already received 75% of his payment with only 50% of work done.
When he said he be doing work while I was out, the only thing done was removal of his tools, nothing was done except and used our home as a staging area while he was at other jobs. Additionally, broke strata bylaws by working late, making noise, working on days not permitted as work was not completed during regular working hours. (Painting was fine, not drilling or fixing floors)
He asked for an additional payment, when we didn't want to provide it, as per contract, we were told we couldn't afford it and then he proceeded to punch the drywall leaving an indentation that still isn't fixed properly.
We were not available for him to complete the finishing work, we do not want him in our home again for fear of damage that he might cause.
Paul's "team" are not other contractors but migrant workers here on visa's who do not speak up for fear of losing their status and get blamed. He was rarely here for more than a couple of hours a day with no follow-up.
He is a handyman.
Pic 1 - tile that is cut crooked, filled with silicone
Pic 2- countertop cut to install glass shower, not authorized, butchered
Pic 3 - missing grout (grout that was black now grey, not covered/cleaned properly, uneven grout)
Pic 4 - missing paint (bad painting, sprayed not sanded, imperfections throughout, joints showing)
Pic 5 - poorly hung cabinets not cut to space, 3 shades of white
Pic 6 - poorly hung doors - don't work properly and uneven
Pic 7 - tape showing after removal of textured ceiling not fixed
This is not an inclusive list.
Damage caused by grout going down the drain, causing damage to another unit (initially saying it was just the piping), calling in professionals to fix, saying he would pay, but we got the bill.
On 6 figures for an 1100 sq.ft. condo, not including appliances, we are very disappointed. In the end we got a lipstick job and certainly didn't get workmanship that was promised or what we payed for.
I ve been hired by Geordie and his girlfriend Cheryl to do complete renovation of their condo. I was referred to the project by Geordie s sister and brother-in-law for whom I did a master bathroom renovation. Being very happy with my workmanship and my work ethic they gave an excellent review on TrustedPros. Everything that was stipulated in the signed contract between me and Geordie has been done to the best industry standards. As pictures are showing we completely renovated condo: new custom kitchen cabinets and custom vanities, Cambria high end quartz countertop for kitchen, coffered ceiling with lights, high end porcelain tiles, in-floor heating system on the bathroom floor and shower floor, flush to floor shower system, freestanding Victoria & Albert stone soaker tub, new full glass solid core interior doors, new glue down 7.5 wide planks engineered hardwood, new custom fireplace mantel with built in niches, new trims, new painting. Everything was finished in 4 months for little less than $110,000 for 1162 sqft of space. As a general contractor who takes pride in his work I have tried to resolve every obstacles and issues that are imminent in the renovation process and to deliver a very good final product per customer specs. I have tried constantly through emails and phone calls to get access to the unit to address the owner s questions, unfortunately they didn t want to allow me to enter the unit. I am still willing to resolve their concerns contingent to the full payment of the outstanding balance of the contract which is 60 days past due.
I’m so impressed with Paul and his crew. They work hard and get the job done very quickly. After dealing with many nightmare contractors over the years, Paul and his team will be doing all of our renovating for years to come. They’ve overdelivered on timing, worth ethic and perfection. Couldn’t be happier ! And they’re very sweet with our children and our dog :)
Re-ALSI Construction:
Recently, Paul Simionescu (Alsi Construction) did a kitchen/ family room renovation for us. My wife and I were very pleased at what was done as well as how it was done.
We found that Paul takes pride in his work. Like, European craftsmen of years gone by. Paul delivers on what he says and does. He is a man to be taken for his word.
1) First and foremost he was there when he said he would be.
2) If he can save the client dollars without sacrificing quality he will.
3) Everything beforehand is written out thus preventing mis-understandings.
4) Another outstanding ability is his being able to calm people down and putting them at ease. Especially during demolition phase, when everything looks like chaos.
5) I have recommended Paul to my friends and family as being dependable and trustworthy.
