I choose Archideas because of previous experience dealing with this company, namely with Vlad. Vlad's work is not only excellent but his prices are very compatible. He is 100% reliable, punctual and professional. The work he performed was quite challenging as the floor was uneven and the tiles I chose were difficult to install (I was told by other tile professionals that they were to difficult to install, some of the companies didn't want to install them). I still need to do back splash in the kitchen and I will call Archideas to do the work. It is very seldom that you can trust a contractor so when one finds someone like Archideas you hold on to them. I know the work will be done 100% and within the specified time frame.
With respect to drywall, Vlad's work is inferior, cracks appeared immediately.
Vlad came to tell his grand stories about his experience in drywall, the fact he had 17 years is what he said. This is false.
The problem is his work is substandard, because two months later we discovered to our shock and horror that there were two cracks in the ceiling. Both cracks run from the north wall to the south wall; one is in the centre of the ceiling. You can see the tape as well. I was appalled especially considering he was paid $1,200.00
Vlad did not remove the existing drywall in the ceiling and I will state that anyone who does drywall knows that the first thing you do is rip out all of it. It is impossible to lay drywall around existing pieces and his seams do not meet either.
On account of the poor workmanship, all of which Vlad did himself, one would think that he would like to come back here and remedy the drywall. But that is not the way in which Vlad works. He seems to prefer to take your money and run.
Update: After I posted this review on this site the dingdong Vlad randomly came to my house one day begging me to take down my review because it was killing his business. He went on to say that he was now living in his car all on account of me. For a second I thought "should I take down my review?" and for a split second I thought perhaps I should and I had not said any thing to Vlad yet but next thing I knew he quickly pecked me on the cheek. It was so gross I could not believe he kissed me so I said forget it I am not taking it down.
Due note that Vlad has a new ad online still under Archideas and it does not say he is doing drywall. He says he is doing tiling among other things. If I were you, do your due diligence before hiring him or wait until Ontario government comes out with its new website on tradespeople who actually have certification and licenses in their trades.
I left telephone messages, about three in early October 2013 plus I texted him as that had been our form of contact. I did not get any response. Then I texted him in late October and heard back from him via text, writing that he was leaving the country for two months and even though I wrote what the problems were via text, Vlad responded "Sorry."
I then managed to get in touch with him in February 2014 and during our initial conversation he began hollering at me on the telephone. I could not believe it and this man claims he is a professional, well I think not.
I asked Vlad when he would like to return to my home to fix the cracks in the ceiling; to rip out the poor work he did and fix it. And do you know what he said? He said he was not going to do it. It apparently doesn't seem to matter to him that he is supposed to do it free of charge to me and yet he won't. So keep this in mind when looking for a drywaller, Vlad is not the person you want.
Honestly I could not believe the nerve of this fellow, denying me the right to have my drywall fixed. Now this means that I have to hire someone else, otherwise the only other option is to bring a lawsuit in small claims court which no one wants to face, but this is the way it is when you have people telling you one thing and it is not true.
So to recap, do not hire Vlad for any of your construction needs. Given the fact he lied to me about his credentials then he is not credible and will lie to you.
In light of his other duties in home improvement and renovations, I do not believe he is skilled tradesman. If he was it would state it on his business card (which it doesn't) and it would have the number attached to his name and this does not appear either. One must contact the Ontario Trades Association to confirm the number matches the name, so ensure you check Vladamir Krachin's name against any trade number he may give you, because unskilled workers usually obtain a number that is fraudulent.
We chatted many times about the other work Vlad could do and not once did he say he was skilled. So I would recommend that you avoid using him, because he is just another one of those individuals in the city who claim he can do this and that when he really can not. Stick with tradesmen and women who have the proper skills, have gone to school to work their trade and received certification, diplomas and degrees. They are the individuals to hire. Not Vlad, certainly not him. Remember he will do the same thing to you that he did to me. And I will post some photos for all to see, and look at the existing drywall, you will see it on the ceiling along with some old insulation, and this is one of the areas that he kept the drywall in the ceiling instead of ripping it out like he should have. Do not hire Vlad. I will never recommend him to anyone.
Thank you for reading and it is unfortunate to have workmen like Vlad be dishonest with homeowners.
