Joseph has been my to go to person. I noticed that the baseboard and doors in the basement laundry and bathroom was not closing. I sent and SOS message to Joseph and he replied immediately. He was at our house the following day and saw that water is doing the damage not knowing where it was coming from. He thought it could be the washer, leak from the bathroom upstairs or frost from the foundation wall. We were leaving for our holiday so what we did was to give Joey the key to the house and he can figure out the issues. While on holidays Joey found the issue and we gave him instruction to do what needs to be done. While on holiday Joey kept us posted every step of the way.
The pain of our Ceiling was peeling. Joey asked us to contact the roofing Company that changed the shingles. After the roof repair was done and letting things settle. We asked Joey to do the repair which he did while fixing the basement water issue.
We came home from holidays and out house was all repaired and cleaned.
Joseph Arruda is the best person for any repair or renovation or add ons to our house. He saved us money and will not do repair that is covered by insurance as insurance companies contact are less expensive than he can charged. When our roof needed changing due to hail & wind damaged Joseph asked us to call insurance CO and ask for a quote and the quote was less than he will charge and he said to go with the roofing company of the insurance and he did supervised with no charge.
Tthanks Joey

Thank you Iris and Ben.
Best regards
I hired Joseph Arruda to build a small bathroom in my basement. The build wasn't an easy one as he had to work with a small space and I didn't have a blueprint for the build.
Joey had to be very creative to make the bathroom work in that space and deal with challenging plumbing. He was always attentive to detail, precise and very pleasant to work with. Joey never compromised the workmanship and he is very skilled at what he does. Being a perfectionist is a highly valued trait for a homeowner and I am extremely pleased with my basement bathroom.
I hired Joseph Arruda to build my deck and fence at the back of the house. He did an excellent job. Joey is always concerned with quality workmanship. He used the best materials for the job and kept the costs within the budget we agreed on. In fact, he overestimated the cost for the fence build and it was completed below budget.
Joey is a perfectionist and a very skilled contractor. He knows the right people to call when he needs help to get the job done in a timely manner. Joey is always concerned about making his clients happy. He is a pleasure to work with and I would hire him again in a heart beat!!
Thank you Joey!!
Thank you Marlene,
Joey came in a completely renovated our upstairs bathroom from scratch. He was able to do it in a timely fashion just before the Christmas holidays. Joey did a excellent job and was on budget. I will use his services again someday for other renovations.
Thank you Ben.
Joey, Joe, Joseph, Joe Reno, Tigerclaw etc. My experience was similar. I agree with the previous reviewer, Joey is a better talker than he is a contractor. Cannot be recommended. Relies on the expertise of others because he appears to lack renovation skills of his own then works to drag on project on hourly fee basis to run up the bill. Billing practises are suspect. Starts reasonably and once you are hooked drags project on. Could go on and on. Rating friendly and communication high because he talks a good game so beware. Quality good if he lands the right trades as he mostly relies on the skills of others. Timeliness and budget poor because he hooks you for an hourly gig and then tries to drag project on and run up the bill.
Very interesting that the clients side of the story has many holes,
When you take on a cost plus job , those costs are incurred at the home owners expense.
When you change your mind and order changes , those are change orders that add costs,
When you set a budget be realistic, don't pull numbers out of the air.
Rob your job was a mess from the start and your indecisiveness only added to cost climbing.
It's easy to point the finger when you blew the budget!
I guess when your wife started to ask the questions ,easy to point at your contractor.
Initial proposal: 3 bathroom renovation, laundry room and Kitchen
Final product: 3 bathroom partially completed, improperly vented laundry room, and Kitchen demolished with drywall installed and nothing more
Joseph/Joey from Jarruda TigerClaw Contracting initially took on our bathroom and kitchen project and everything started off great. Joseph came when expected and was paid by the hour, $45/hr. We thought this was a reasonable rate.
He stated that the bathrooms would be completed in about 5 days each.
Bathrooms took more than 3 weeks each. So when we thought we were getting a good deal on an hourly rate, we actually ended up paying more in total. Also the bathrooms were not complete at the end. No doors were hung. The mirror in the main bathroom was not hung properly and fell shattered onto the floor.
About 3/4 through the project Joseph increased his hourly rate which we did not expect. No reasons were provided.
His biweekly bills were disorganized with simple addition errors. I did not feel I was working with a professional having to correct simple addition errors for hours worked on every bill submitted.
Throughout the project there was pressure to give a "kickback" or tip of 10% which I was informed was industry standard. When I told him I would consider after the work was complete Joseph was not happy.
His subtrades left scratches on our new marble tile, and numerous chips on our bannister. An independent assessment to repair the marble scratches was $600. There were major scratches on our new balcony railing from which he threw out garbage onto a dumpster on our driveway.
When these concerns were brought up to Joseph he decided to abandon us, with incomplete washrooms, and improperly functioning dryer and a torn out kitchen.
Our concerns about the improperly hung mirror were correct. We thought it was unstable and not pivoting properly. Joseph refused to come back to fix our mirror. 2 weeks later it fell to the floor smashed into pieces, damaging our new marble floor and quartz vanity. The mirror cost $700 alone.
We also noticed our dryer was not working properly and had an HVAC expert come in to assess. The new venting Joey installed was all disconnected and torn and the dryer was essentially venting into our wall which explained why our upstairs bedroom smelled of fabric softener whenever the dryer was in use. Since then a new contractor has torn out part of the wall and installed new metallic venting.
Joseph has refused to come back to address these deficiencies.
In summary, the work completed was of substandard quality. Much work was not completed and we were left in a state of disarray especially the kitchen. The work completed took 3 times longer than expected, and costed much more than was discussed. Invoices were not professional with multiple errors on every bill. Hourly rate changed without explanation and most importantly deficiencies were not addressed.
I can provide more details and pictures if desired.
This job was a red flag from the start , all the problems in this build were pre existing,
There first contractor pulled the plug on the site when the home owners starting to manage the build .
I get that it only takes 10. To 12 days on a bathroom build , and I understand that .
What you need to know is that if all material is on site and ready to go there is the time line .
When you have no selections made and are still shopping online for mirrors and finish package you are minimal 3 to 5 weeks.
I think that I accommodated all your requests , and when you upgrade from 13 dollar tile to 35 costs go up ,
You both were very tough to work for and I have given up on the kid gloves .
You got an awesome product and finish,
The mirror is so perfectly placed that it is ridiculous to blame the contractor,
The venting that you show was from the previous contractor.
That's shady on how you can make a good contractor look bad.
