Biggest mistake of my life hiring this guy! 8 day renovation of a 5x7 bathroom took months. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing, hire people he doesn't know off the internet to do work for him. Had to have a plumber because he didn't do plumbing right, said plumber ruined a brand new tub, letting hot solider drop in the acrylic never used tub. Stone stopped above the tub edge, never chalked it, so first shower water runs down into the walls. He didn't put the porcelain for in costing more money for new tiles. Actually called my husband at work and cried on the phone. He had the most inventive lies every time he walked through the door. Run far from this guy, $10,000.00 renovation that we've had to redo.
Judy and her husband Moaner, hired us to remodel their bathroom. I told them 10 days to 2 weeks to complete. On day 10 all we had left to do is tile the floor (Btw they were supplying the floor tile) and that is after they added a new closet door and framing for the linen closet. They had decided to use left over tile from their kitchen reno from the year before. I told them that after measuring, they had barely enough to do the floor and I advised them to reconsider. They chose to go with leftover tile....
We installed the supplied tile but ran out just by one piece. I even used small pieces under the vanity to utilize the full tiles where needed. This was just before Christmas and I gave them the option to tile then or after the holidays as they were getting ready for a bike/road trip down south. I was so unhappy with the tile situation that I offered to pay for the replacement tiles myself, which I did. After all, it was only 24 sqft and it looked less than perfect. They agreed to call me when they got back from the States.
Finally, in February, they called to set an appointment for me to come in and complete the floor (therefore the months later comment). We came in and finished the floor. Moaner then informed me that he wasn't going to pay the contract out and so we packed up and left.
Does anyone want to work without getting paid? No, I don't think so. We left the job incomplete because we weren't paid and Moaner made it very clear that he wasn't paying in full.
Do you know what all three of these complaints have in common? Other than being deceitful and dishonest?
They did not pay for the work that they contracted for. So the jobs were left incomplete.....
Pics of this really nice bathroom are posted for all to see the work. This was a total gut BTW
We hired Shaun Watkins last December 2014 to renovate our house. In the contract, he was supposed to begin the renovation mid-December ad finish it at the end of January 2015.
We have paid him in advance with cheques (preferred being paid cash). Mid-March, he removed all his tools from the site and refused to complete the work. The following weeks, we received some texts from his phone telling us that he will send an employee to finish the tiling in the main bathroom, because it was under warranty... nothing has been done so far despite several requests from us.
He knew that we needed to list our property for sale as soon the renovations were completed. It appears that important information was not taken seriously by him.
Furthermore, we asked him to give back our house key, no answer from him. We needed to hire another contractor to finish and repair the work not done properly (walls in the shower not straight, cracks, no caulking, holes). The new contractor has to do a hole in the kitchen wall to add copper pipes to fix the plumbing.
During the renovation, he did not send us up-dates for the work done. He always ask for more cheques and was very fast to cash them. He always had good excuses for not showing up and most of the time worked only in the week-ends. We saw more his children on the site than his employees.
We have already filled complaints to Ministry of Government and Consumer Services and to Better Business Bureau. We do not recommend this contractor to anyone considering the dishonesty and the poor quality job he done.
Shawn is dishonest and left me with an unfinished staircase he was not qualified to do. His contract stated seven to ten business days it had been over for months he left me with a mess and unfinished stairs and steel exposed on my walls where he did damage he refuses to fix. He would scream at me on the phone and I took three days off work to accomodate him and he never showed up. He only took cask ss a payment he was paid in full and did not come back. The person above must be his friend as this is a contractor you need to avoid. His stainer spilled stain all over my rug and he did not replace it.
Had the entire foundation of my home redone as there were two locations leaking water into the basement. Shaun came across as helpful and knowledgeable, and made a good case for getting the work. The project was finished before winter, and we noticed that there was a a section near the one area that as needing repair that was collapsing inward. It took us until this summer (July 2015) to get in and attempt to repair the work he did in August 2014. When the area was dug out, it was discovered that Shaun lied about having completed a section of work. He actually made the problem worse! He dig out the section that needed repair, then didn't waterproof or coat it, and has still not been buy to fix it. We paid him to do this work, he said it was done, lied, and then tried to cover it up. He then also tried tog et more money from us to do another repair as opposed to completing the first one. Having extreme issues with him and his communication now too. He dug up the yard again (which was how we discovered his previous lie) and has now vanished, and is being evasive with contact. If he doesn't get the job done soon, we will be reporting him to the Better Business Bureau and other appropriate authorities.
