In all honesty, all I was searching for was a garage door company to replace my old, broken, dented, manual garage door with a new automatic-motorized version. Sounds simple enough doesn’t it - not quite so.
What I was met with (twice) was “tradesmen ondescension.” Haven’t we all felt that at some point. “I’m sorry but we don’t do the prep for our installs - it will be your responsibility to remove the overhead bulkhead storage bunk.” As I looked confused and frustrated thinking how my kitchen stool and butter knife would accomplish such a task - it was quickly followed up with an “It’s easy.” Again, haven’t we all experienced a skilled and trained “someone” expressing their craft as “easy” to the lay-person?
Quickly, both companies were dismissed from furthering their quote.
A frustrated social media rant lead to communication with a dear and trusted friend. “I went through the same thing - but contact this guy I stumbled onto; your search will be over.” Enter Dustin Ballingall of Ballingall Renovations.
I met with Dustin - an eager to please and well spoken sort. I explained my situation visa vie my “bulkhead / garage door woes.” “I’ll certainly take care of that bulkhead for you and if you wish I can contact a garage door company that I can work in conjunction with and oversee your home reno project.”
He was hired on the spot - in fact, the garage side / exit door was in need of replacing as well. A quick “off the cuff” measurement and quote was issued within seconds. “You’re hired, again”
Excellent communication skills with his customers; an ”early bird gets the worm” arrival work ethic and “won’t stop till it’s done and done right” also characterize him.
My side / exit door is in. My automatic garage door is in and I’m thrilled.
He also returned to install my Big-Boy-Over-The-Range Microwave. He is my Go-To-Guy for handyman items around my house.
