We contacted Bath Fitter Winnipeg on Johnson Avenue during the summer 2016. We specifically asked about 'shifting' in our seasonal residence and the effect it would have on their product.
We were advised in an e-mail to discuss this concern with their consultant since this would not be covered under the warranty. ( *Future consumers beware: This part of the warranty is nowhere to be found on the invoice or brochure. It was mentioned in an "e-mail response" to answer our specific inquiry. We find this highly questionable for a 'reputable' company and BBB accredited business).
We discussed the shifting of our home with the consultant and the installation of the unit in our bathroom. We delayed confirmation of this specific installation until the consultant further conferred with another individual at Bath Fitter Winnipeg. Only AFTER he phoned us and assured us that this product would be deemed suitable for our specific purpose, did we authorize the installation.
Initially, we were pleased with the appearance of the bathtub/walls. We closed our seasonal home 2 months after the installation.
In February 2017, we checked our seasonal home and were shocked and disappointed to discover noticeable cracks between the wall and bathtub. ( see photo )
We contacted Bath Fitter Winnipeg and e-mailed photos. We were told it was not covered by the warranty. We advised them that we were aware of this prior to the installation, but we were assured by the consultant and whoever he consulted with that we would have 'no worries.' **This product was deemed suitable for our seasonal residence and as consumers we relied and depended upon the judgment and advise of the Bath Fitter consultant.**
We were told by the service manager that they service 'high volumes' of this nature on a regular basis and the service price was anywhere between $110 - $140 per call.
**This information was 'conveniently' omitted when we initially contacted Bath Fitter as well as during the consulting process.
We were told it would cost $110 to come to our residence to repair the cracks; this was later waived. We did not accept this 'one-time' offer since we were looking for a long-term solution rather that a 'Band-Aid fix.'
We contacted the Better Business Bureau of Winnipeg. Our grievance was not resolved. It can be read in full on their webpage. It will remain on the Bath Fitter Winnipeg profile until April 2020.
Bath Fitter Winnipeg misrepresented their product's suitability for our specific location.
Bath Fitter Winnipeg omitted information pertaining to their regular 'high volume' service calls.
Bath Fitter Winnipeg did not provide a positive customer service.
We would highly suggest looking elsewhere for any bathroom renovation.
