we were going through a whole home renovation, dealing with many different contractors throughout a 1 year period. By far the easiest project we had done was our garage. We met with Mel and discussed the garage design we were looking for, the price, and the timeline. They took care of literally everything right from the start to the end finishing touches with absolutely no surprises! we researched a dozen companies in total and had quotes from just as many. The pricing was similar, but Brentwood had a ton more experience than the rest and came with tons of visuals to give us the exact garage we were looking for, plus they took care of all permits and property survey. The perfect one-stop-shop for garages!!!

Having a purchased our house a few years ago my wife and I felt that a garage was what was missing from an otherwise very comfortable, beautiful home. We believed that not only would it be a place to store and preserve a vehicle but the added storage space would free up the clutter in our home and yard. Of course we thought about it but didn't pursue it seriously because it seemed like such a monumental task in going about it, both financially and time wise in looking for the right people to help in such a relatively large project. As fortune would have it our neighbours down the street hired Brentwood to build their own garage. We were amazed how quickly and efficiently their garage was built and in a matter of a few weeks. Once we were given a tour of the finished product, based soley on the quality and look we were sold. Mel came in with a detailed budget and plan took care of the permits and survey. Mike came in and oversaw the construction in all its phases from the pouring of the concrete, to the framing, drywall, roof and door. The crew they brought in for these specific tasks worked fast and efficiently leaving barley any trace of mess or debris. Within two weeks we had our own magnificent garage to call our own and a little under budget to boot. We could not give a higher recommendation to the professionalism and quality of this company. I hired Brentwood to demolish the existing garage and build a new one. I am so happy with the results and the service was fantastic. Mike and Mel were great communicators and always quick to respond if I had questions. Their crews were efficient and respectful and the final product looks great. I'd heard horror stories from friends about dealing with contractors but this was so smooth and simple. The garage looks fantastic. Worth every penny.

Mike and Mel were fantastic. Super responsive from the get go, provided us with full disclosure on timing, costs and handled the entire permitting process start to finish.

We chose Brentwood because they had done two other garages on our street, and they both looked great. I spoke with the homeowners, and they gave Mel and Mike great reviews.

We started talks in May, 2016, and had a contract signed in June. However, because there were issues with trees and Toronto's stupid bylaws, we had to go to the city's Committee of Adjustments. We filed in July, and were told we couldn't get to committee until NOVEMBER!! Note: this isn't Mike/Mel's fault - it's the stupid city making us wait months to essentially rubber stamp our permit (and collect $2000), as we were getting the same "adjustment" as had already been given to the other garages on the street. OK, end of rant.

The existing structure was nearly 100 years old, and was close to falling down. In fact, the week before the garage was torn down, a section of roof caved in! Mike/Mel's team came in the next week, tore the whole thing down in less than a day, and cleaned up the site. All of the trades who worked for them were very good, IMHO. Everyone showed up on time, and did a very professional job. I think that's a testimony to the company - they respect their trades, and it's clear the trades respect them.

Mel and Mike accommodated a few late requests (they built a small workbench for me, installed a light over it, etc.), but the job was still done very quickly - less than a month from tear down to finish, and that was in Toronto's very rainy spring of 2017.

We are delighted with the finished product, and would not hesitate to recommend Mike and Mel to anyone. They are both friendly and easy to talk to, and seem genuinely concerned that the job is done well, and people are happy.

I was so impressed with Brentwood Contracting from start to finish.

We had a detached garage built in September 2016 and each stage went like clockwork even finishing ahead of schedule. I was informed of every detail of the project and what steps would be taken each day. The communication was great. Every worker was very professional and the worksite was kept very clean impressing even my neighbours! I would highly recommend anyone to use their services. City permits and inspections were all part of the project!

We had a terrible garage that we wanted to do something about from the moment me and my partner moved in. Initially, we had thought about renovating to avoid dealing with the city, but decided against it.

Really, we didn't care too much about exact specifications for the garage, we were more concerned with getting a building permit for it. Since Etobicoke zoning bylaws are wierd, there is really no provision for a corner lot to have a detached garage. Because of how our property is shaped, an attached garage was also not an option. So we had to take it to the minor variances committee. This went well and was approved with some caveats. We met all of those and finally got our building permit.

It took one day to get rid of the old garage, one day for the concrete forms, then a day to pour the concrete. Then a week of curing, then one day we had a garage. Over the next few days, the trim, shingles doors, and electric were put in.

The final inspection is due in a couple days. We have a beautiful garage with a door that works.

The process took a long time for us, but Mel stuck with it and now we have our garage.

The work work wasn't cheap, but I think it was well worth it. The build quality looks and feels solid, and everything was cleaned up when they finished.

The only thing with 4 out of 5 stars is communication, I felt like I did much of the chasing for updates, though the response was always prompt when I did, it would have been nice to get updates more proactively.

We needed a new garage! After some research we decided to use Brentwood Contracting - best decision ever! Our nightmare, wobbly, leaky maternity ward for raccoons is gone. Everything about the new garage is solid and attractive, from the concrete pad to the tip of the roof. Brentwood arranged everything: building permit, arborist inspection, dismantling and disposal of old garage, trench for electrical installation (My wife says "Love, love, love the remote controlled garage door with lights."), and coordinating all the teams for each phase. Everybody was courteous and performed their jobs well. Mel and Mike were approachable and really interested in making us happy. Even our neighbour was happy with Brentwood for fixing a bit of damage to their eavestrough and a bit of trim. We are very happy indeed, and highly recommend Brentwood Contracting.

These guys were all great to work with and the garage looks fantastic. The whole build was well organized, the crews were courteous, tidy, efficient, communication was great and everything was finished on schedule and as promised.
