We have been following Brothers Contracings work for over a year, and all my wife and I can say is.. Where else can you find a Home Renoation company that HONESTLY does it ALL to
the absolute highest of standard work, communication, and trust. We will 100% be referring them, and using them again in the future!!!
Hi Zachary! Please say Hi to Stephanie from our team. The truth about "Waterproofing" is it has to be done RIGHT. Unfortunately sometimes you cannot fix the problem from the inside, and when we had the job inspected by our expert WES - we had to dig up about 35' Linear Feet all the way down to the foundation of your home. On the other hand, you both were so nice to work with, and the job turned out absolutely Perfect with your new PVC System... say Goodbye to the old clogged clay!
After we finished the waterproofing I must say, our team did a wonderful job on your brand new SIDEWALKS! We agree, much nicer than Grass AND all the STONE is sloped away from the house to avoid any water problems in the future!
Thanks Zach and Steph, not only for the business, but your trust most importantly.
The renovation of our 10x6’ ensuite bathroom was estimated by Salesman/Co-owner Eliot, to take 6 days. This work was to remove old shower stall, reinstall new corner shower with knee wall and glass door and surround, install new fixtures, tile floors, repaint walls and existing cabinets, build and install custom shelving tower, remove a door and drywall opening, fix and paint exterior wall where door was removed.
We had a 10 day vacation planned. Initially, we were told the job would start at the end of February. However, when the project lead & the other owner visited the site 4 days after, they announced they could start tomorrow & assured us that the job would be completed long before we had to leave.
It’s important to understand this reno, estimated to take 6 days by the company owner & salesperson, was started by 1 team & completed by another. That initial team had to be supplemented with an “electrician” because they could not determine how to rewire the new switches.
That team was fully replaced after 17 days due to the number of significant problems with the quality of work. They were replaced by John and Jesse who tore out most of the work already done & finished in 11 days.
Team 2 did excellent work & were responsive to our needs & requests. They communicated with us regularly, responded promptly to our calls/texts.
Crew # 1 was on site working for 17 days with 4 different workers over 2.5 weeks. Arrival time was typically between 9:45-10:45 with quitting time anywhere from 5-8pm. One Saturday night we had to ask the crew to leave at 9pm.
The first crew’s work was unsatisfactory. Issues included: grossly uneven tiles in the shower stall & floor, tile edges unfinished, poorly grouted shower niche & uneven edges in the niche, extremely poor caulking, a propensity to cover errors with gobs of caulking, poor preparation of drywall installed where door was removed resulting in a significant flaw in the wall, inability to build/install the custom corner tower, use of too long drywall screws resulting in damage to the pocket door, highly visible baseboard irregularities, difficulty moving the three way switch for lights/ fans from hall to inside bathroom, mixing up the hot/cold water supply to the shower, resulting in 2nd crew’s return to the site after job was deemed finished.
Due to the poor quality of the work, requirements that had been committed to and then became impossible to meet (custom shelving unit), Eliot visited our site to assess the situation. He agreed that there were major deficits in the work, that the quality was substandard and he “pleaded” for a change to make it right. A new crew was assigned.
Crew # 2 John and Jesse arrived and in 11 days were able to address all issues, including a complete tear out of all tiling on the floors and shower. They provided quality work and completed the job to our original specifications and in some instances, improved on the design. They arrived on time every day, in all kinds of weather. No issues arose that had not been created by the FIRST crew.
Instead of the 6 days of work effort estimated by Brothers’ Construction Inc., the job actually took 28 days of workers actually on site. In total we were left without a fully functional bathroom for 45 days including our 10 days on vacation.
We would not recommend hiring Brothers’ Inc. for home renovations because of our experience specifically:
o No quality assurance oversight provided by the company
o The commitment to use qualified skilled trades eg plumbers and electricians was not met, which lead to delays in completion (eg. water reversed, difficulty rewiring switches from outside to inside the bathroom)
o Lack of consistent communication from:
o The company to the homeowners eg missed appointments to visit the worksite, calls/texts from homeowners to Justin and Eliot not returned
o Sales to Project Manager to the onsite workers
There is no doubt the project has its challenges. As a Contractor, we are still human beings. The first crew assigned to your Bathroom Reno has been with our Company for 10 Years. It definitely didn't feel good pulling him and his crew off the job site, but as a Business Owner and with empathy I can put myself in your shoes and can fully understand your frustration.
That being said, when our team sat down and decided that although it would cost our Company more than DOUBLE to re-do the entire Bathroom a 2nd time, we followed through with our word and we sent our 2nd Crew in there and they rectified each and every single issue and gave you as my clients EXACTLY what you wanted from the start. As for the photos attached, the Bathroom turned out 100% PERFECT. The process didn't and for that we are sorry. In the end, we did everything we had to do to fulfill our promises and for that at least we are honest an honest business. In the end, although the project took longer, we did what we had to for you.. our clients. We apologize for any inconvenience due to time,
But I must say,
We took off $1,200 and the bathroom is now perfect. We're human too. Things happen, but as honest people we would never leave any customer unhappy.
As a business owner, knowing you guys would take the $1,200 Cash back and STILL give us feedback like this when it had already been done in person - it goes to show you our TRUE colours. It's not about the money, and we knew we would get this feedback even with the rebate - we just wanted to do what we felt was right so you could enjoy several nice dinners together and some time together that was taken away during the Renovation. Thanks again for giving us that Second chance. Be well Sandy and Jerry - all the best.
Anthony was the best. He was concerned about getting the work done as quickly and
efficiently. He was very considerate of my husband's mobility issues. He puts what I wanted in place no matter if he agreed or not.
He was pleasant at all times and communicated with on all matters regarding my project. If I have to do any more renovations I definitely would use you guys again. Thank you for an excellent job.
Thank you so much for the kind feedback Elizabeth! I promised you Anthony was one of our absolute best Trades, with an extremely skilled crew. Thanks for the opportunity, and for giving our team here at BROTHERS CONTRACTING INC the project. The business is really appreciated, and so is your hospitality. You were a pleasure to work with, and now you know if you need anything at all down the road... you know who to call. Don't be a stranger, we had a really great experience!
Justin and Elliot did not disappoint, they promised we would be pleased with the workmanship and they kept their word! Anthony was onsite daily, the crew Jay, Chris, Mark and Shawn (I'm missing some names here) were great. They worked hard daily to get the job done. I am thankful we chose Brothers Contracting, I would definitely recommend them in the future!
Michelle! We are going to miss working at your Home. You were so kind, thank you for all your help and for treating our crew like Family, our team really enjoyed working with you. The BASEMENT turned out PERFECT!
So looking forward to working with you guys again in the near future - don't be a stranger.
