I do all Home improvement needs. Upgrades from old to new. I have been building homes and doing home renovation since 1996 with my dad. In 2015 I opened my own business, and C&A construction home improvement was born.

I hired C&A (Casey) construction to do a washroom plumbing rough-in, the work was subpar. Casey was a nice guy but he provided no creative solutions to maximize the space. The work was very sloppy and looked like I could have done a better job with no formal training. He was adding in “cheater” vents in areas that were not permitted by code. He installed a grinder pump and completely encased it in concrete instead of using clean fill and just cementing the 4”slab, a fact that I found out after hiring a new contractor to fix his work.
I found him to be very expensive as well. It cost me well over $5000 and the project was nowhere near finished. I was left with nothing but frustration by the time the he was finished, and as a result I was disheartened. My project (2 years later) is just now getting back on track after hiring a new crew to fix his mess.
I would advise against hiring C&A Construction. Casey needs to take more pride in his work and be more professional in general.
My husband and I hired Casey from C&A construction home improvement to take out our old shower and install a new one. When he came to give us an estimate on July 11,2018 he was such a nice guy. I guess we should have asked for references. Although I know from experience, we would have only got references from those who approved his workmanship.
The whole issue started with him making choices about cutting our shower wall and placing the door on the wrong side of the shower. He did not ask us about anything he just went and made the decisions himself. He did admit verbally that he should of asked us about our shower door. The shower wall was cut so bad it needs to be replaced.
I’m attaching pictures of his unfinished job (he’s calling me nit picky) that he was suppose to come back and fix yesterday, but, didn’t tell us he wasn’t coming until 20 minutes after he was suppose to be here. We asked if he could come finish the job that evening but he could not for approximately one week. We needed our shower back. My husband took 3 hours of work off to be here. Casey said he was running late at another job but for some reason he found the time to message me through Facebook nonstop for over an hour. He is very unprofessional.
The list of things wrong includes very uneven cut to the shower, base has a gap in it so it moves up and down when you step on it(was not installed on level surface), 4 screws missing, shower arm not replaced to new, shower faucet not replaced as we specifically showed him the new faucet during install, numerous chips and dents, wrong drywall installed, poor silicone job, door is on opposite of our old one(he did not ask and the door can be installed on either side).
During that Facebook conversation he accused me of accusing him of stealing 3 screws. I did say there were 3 screws 'missing' on the side of the shower he didn’t install. I don’t understand how that translates into me accusing him of stealing. As the conversation went on, I tried to explain to him that we are not accusing him of anything and we just want the job done. The shower is unusable the way he left it. Later we found another screw missing during the install on the inside.
He was constantly complaining how poor quality it was. This shower is a Maxx shower and it was not cheap. We never once complained about the quality of the shower. We could live with the shower if it was installed level, properly cut(if it had to be at all), correct drywall installed, sealed properly, and all of the parts installed.
I guess our first mistake was trusting he will be back and we paid him in full amount instead of partial payment and the rest when he is done. It’s like he took our money and now trying to get out of honoring what he said he was going to do.
My husband also found out that the drywall he purchased for us is not approved for bathrooms. So the whole shower has to be taken down and the drywall needs to be replaced.
I did ask him for a receipt, as the link to the website that he sent my estimate to wasn’t working(did he delete it?). Thank goodness we have surveillance cameras showing my husband paying him as he has not sent us a receipt yet. Very dishonest.
Please be very cautious of hiring this man. He started getting verbally abusive with me through Facebook messaging (which I have saved for a future claim in small claims court). He told us he wasn’t going to finish the job and I finally said I didn’t want him here as I was feeling very verbally abused and threatened.
In response to the owner's rebutal:
Casey went to Home Depot himself to purchase the incorrect drywall. I just gave him the money to do so. (I did not know there is a different type of drywall for bathrooms. I trusted him to get the correct drywall)
He NEVER offered to customized the shower, he did this without our knowledge, even though I was home the whole time he was working in the bathroom. There were no cracks in the shower the night before when my husband and I carried the parts up to the bathroom.
We wanted Casey to finish the job on the day he said he would come but he cancelled and then got verbally abusive through FaceBook messages about us accusing him of stealing, which I found strange.
Unfortunately we did pay him in full as we trusted him to come back with no issues that Monday.(my husband took time off work Monday to be home to make sure everything was done correctly but Casey messaged me 15 minutes after he was suppose to be her cancelling.)
Casey never once told me that he was having a hard time because the shower is "garbage". Which it is not.
