Never ever hire Cabinet Boss Inc. aka Cabinet Boss, owner Neil Liederman, Tobi Liederman of Thornhill, Ontario. We hired Cabinet Boss, work began July 2 2013 and still to this date, October 29th, 2013 lots of work is outstanding. Neil is lazy, unprofessional & dishonest. After starting our renovation we provided partial payment and learned he has been bankrupt before. We have always been cautious about this, we asked him up front & he denied it before our contract began.
Despite agreeing on a start and end time daily, Neil showed up, that is, when he showed up at 11:10 am. Then maybe he would work an hour then leave. This happened a lot in the first month & we wondered what on earth was happening. Then we found out, that Neil and his wife were house hunting. We asked that he do this on his personal time not ours. But he didn't care he continued until they made a purchase. Then came the screaming and shouting from him in his van that was sitting in our driveway. Neighbors heard and complained. So he brought those complaint calls into our home and stood in our ramshackle kitchen hollering into the telephone. How could he not know his place? Like I want to hear him swearing in my home. We told him to take it outside. And this is just the beginning.
Other days he disappeared then returned hours later, I mean 3.5 to 4 hours later despite saying he'd be gone for a few minutes. Twice he came here on weekdays expecting to begin work at 3:30 pm.
The work is a joke. Neil is unprofessional, in fact he claims to have been in business for 25 years and we don't know how that is possible because the quality of his work; well let me say, that there is no quality. I will post some photos.
What does Cabinet Boss mean to you? Neil is not a boss of any kind though he claims to be able to custom build you a beautiful kitchen. After living 12 years in our house we saved & finally got new or we were supposed to. The cabinets we spoke about and finally got are not custom, they are standard made. The countertop is quartz & a problem developed with it on the occasion when only Neil was in the house alone. He was supposed to design a particular sore spot where we have this ugly bulkhead in the kitchen and despite saying this would be EZ he could not come up with something desirable. Imagine that and he calls himself the cabinet boss. Neil, like we said, you should have started with this space first instead of last. By the way, when I used to stand in front of my bulkhead before the renovation, I could not reach the cabinets, and now with the new installation I still can not reach them. And whose fault is that Neil? Yours you idiot, and we discussed this for months and you claimed you would design something nice. Look at the photo, he did nothing, not even drywall.
New installation of drywall in July 2013 has to be redone due to cracks already.
Neil installed valence lighting and did his entire installation wrong connecting it to the only reserved plug for bridge lights. My floor is higher on one side than the other because Neil didn't want his guys to waste their time removing the mesh underneath it. He threw away our marble thresholds even those leading into other rooms. He didn't care & now it is impossible to install a threshold due to unevenness everywhere.
Neil says he did a good job with designing our cold air return and baseboards. I will let you folks decide when you see my photos. He doodled on the countertops, he drew figures and wrote names of friends and denied writing a telephone number on our new deck. Imagine spending $18,000 on a new deck only to have someone engrave a telephone number on it. Neil did this.
Major work still not done like trim, valences, crown mouldings, thresholds, electrical, drywall again. We are now at week 20 & Neil who was never busy here claims he is busy elsewhere. I doubt it very much.
