Canadian Choice Windows Calgary

Very disappointed with Canadian Choice windows. Definitely advise avoiding this company. I chose them based on the good reviews - big mistake.

Had 3 windows in basement replaced because they were the old, single pane sliders and our basement was very cold and drafty. Purchased their ‘Highest efficiency’ 3 pane sliders with expectations that the basement would still be cooler than upstairs- but livable.

Not so. They’re now installed and we still have a draft. Ice forms around the window frame inside the room when it’s really cold (which never happened before), and it’s not any warmer than with the original garbage windows.

I called to ask them to correct this and was told it’s normal, just turn down humidity. No, this isn’t normal. The humidity is adjusted for the temps, and none of my other windows have any condensation/ice/draft issues, except the once’s from Canadian Choice.

Was able to convince them to send someone out to look, and was informed that it’s an issue with the design that their window supplier provided. He admitted it’s not a good design and they’re having complaints from other customers but it’s not their fault. Not their issue. Really!!!! My contract isn’t with the window supply company it is with Canadian Choice. This is their issue.

The tech said that because of the design there will be ice expected on the inside window frame (not just condensation on the glass).

Very disappointed to have spent money on a product that doesn’t keep my home warm and to be provided with a product that isn’t what was promised.

Also - the specs noted on their sales flier are not aligned with those actually provided. No window sticker when the installers finished up so I had them email me the info. Although we were told they were the highest energy rating available, the actual product doesn’t meet the standard.

We changed windows in entire house and we highly recommend this company. Project Manager Ihor personally came to our place to give us quote for the type of windows we envisioned for our house, discuss pricing and coordinate timing. He was knowledgable and helpful. The installer Orest was an amazing person to work with! He managed to organise the installation in mere two days, even though the windows were many and heavy and not the easiest to deal with . The job was done in an efficient manner, without the hitch. I highly recommend this company for any homeowner who wants the job done fast, well and reasonably priced.

I DID NOT like the service provided by Canadian Choice Windows (CCW). They did not provide the product we expected and were non-apologetic about withholding pertinent information to make the sales.

We ordered and expected the highest energy efficiency windows (R9 wide-spaced triple-pane glass) for all 15 windows but they only installed 3 windows with those specifications. 7 windows were the lower R7 narrow pane triple-pane and 1 window was a double pane.

The CCW salesperson, Igor, DID NOT inform me of these changes and I only noticed this after the windows were installed 6 months later.

I wanted the highest efficiency glass possible and would not have chosen CCW if they could not supply the windows I wanted. Igor, the sales representative was not truthful and withheld information in order to make this sale of $20,000. In the end I did NOT get the most efficient windows I wanted and the company doesn’t care about customer satisfaction. They even deleted my Google review and many of the negative reviews it seems!

On a day with an outside temperature of -36C, I took temperature measurements of the inside surface temperatures. The interior wall temperature baseline (14.4C) and then measured each window. Wide-Pane glass (12.6C, [delta -1.8C]), the Narrow-Pane glass (9.8C, [delta -4.8C]) and finally the Dual-Pane glass(9.4C, [delta -5.0C]). The windows cover 90% of this wall so, during cold days, the less efficient windows will be felt. This is a significant difference, especially for cold winter days in Calgary!!
