We were so grateful to have chosen Luke, Bob and Greg to do our home renovations. They did an amazing job of creating a beautiful and practical space from what was previously a very small, dingy and outdated basement. We weren't the easiest clients as we weren't really sure of what we wanted, but Luke took our list of needs and designed a space that is exactly what we wanted.

They were on time and on budget, always cleaned up at the end of the day, they were incredibly courteous and respectful to our our young kids and they worked around our crazy schedule. There are too many examples of when they went above and beyond expectations to list.

We can say with confidence that it was a real pleasure to work with them and will definitely call on them again for future projects.

My experience with CMCD was excellent. Luke, Bob and Greg were very reliable in that they were prompt and forthcoming in everything they did. Most contractors promise the world and deliver a fraction. However, their work on framing, drywall, mud and tape, doors and trim exceeded my expectations. Additionally, they worked well with the "particular" Building Inspector to ensure that everything was done to code. Furthermore, they were awesome people who I now consider friends. I highly recommend them for anyone serious about good work.

We hired Luke to renovate our old bathroom this summer. He was very professional and did an excellent job!

Luke is a good listener and returns phone calls and emails promptly. He gave us a lot of useful design ideas and his price was very reasonable compared to other contractors. His craftsmanship is good and he finished our renovation on time and on budget.

I was referred to Luke of Carpenter Mate Construction and Design by a friend of mine after seeing the work he had done in her basement. I liked what I saw there and I must say I like what I see in my own home. Luke, Bob and his team had quite the task. We have good sized basement that had become our dumping ground for about a decade, so how he managed to design such a beautiful space is beyond me. He took our vision and "must haves" and made it happen. In the process educating us about things and explaining clearly and respectfully why some of the choices or must-haves may not benefit us or be feasible, and we appreciated it. The workmanship was top notch, The finishing was seamless and very pleasing to the eye. The quality and integrity of the trades he utilized was reassuring. I have recommended his services to others which speaks volumes. Needless to say our basement is now a haven with excellent use of space and no longer the dungeon no one wanted to go to. Luke and Bob are terrific! The workmanship of the renos is suberb! They are courteous, clean up after their workday and always pleasant. I asked for a couple changes and they completed them with no sense of resentment at being asked to revisit the look. They were right on budget. A great team!

We completely gutted our basement and selected Carpenters Mate to finish same with a Second Suite which includes a kitchen, living/dining room, bedroom which includes flooring & painting throughout and a custom washroom. They also completed our laundry area, capping of stairs and a separate recreation room which included new electrical panel, pot lights, etc. Luke took care of all drawings and permit application needed by City of Toronto and hiring of the sub-trades to do the electrical, plumbing, etc.

Luke, Bob and their sub-trades were very thorough & polite. They explained the processes and produced a very neat & functional space that we are enjoying.

We would not hesitate to recommend them to our friends and family and will definitely use them again if the need arise.

My experience with Luke and Bob was different from Day One. Luke was the only contractor (I interviewed 8) who listened to all our ideas, tried to incorporate them into the design when possible, and used 3D modelling to help us visualize our options for the renovation. Luke and Bob became part of my family over the weeks we worked together. Luke helped us through the awful discovery that our wiring was unsafe, there was a floor to ceiling crack in the foundation and support walls/beams were missing. He quickly addressed these situations and found affordable quality solutions so that our renovation could continue without adding too much time and money. Luke took care of everything from permits and by-law inspections to fire code inspections and subcontractors. Luke's primary goal was to give us a legal basement apartment that we could rent out to help offset the cost of our mortgage. Because of his quality design and work, we have an incredible apartment with a gorgeous kitchen, beautiful bathroom and lots of lights that we rent out for more than expected. I can't recommend Luke highly enough and have recommended him on numerous occasions.
