I wish to thank David for he outstanding renovation project on my Family Room, which was completed in a timely manner. They installed French doors / repaired roof /drywall and electrical upgrades/new lighting. His helpers Mark and Jeff were the best. I highly recommend Chetco Homes.
I highly recommend David at Chetco Homes. I was in dire need of shelving at my new home. David showed up on the day we scheduled and did a fantastic job, which I’m very pleased with.
It was a pleasure doing business with him and I’ll definitely recommend his services to my family and friends.
Thank you David!
When Dave gave us a quote for the services performed he said that when he begins a job he doesn't leave it until it's done. The work was done in a timely manner and the quality is such I would recommend him to my friends for future work.
Chetco Homes recently completed renovations for our new home. We had Chetco convert it from a duplex back to single family usage by removing a kitchen. As well Chetco reinstalled a ceiling in the dining and living room, repaired and smoothed out the popcorn wall adjacent to the stairwell, installed and retrimmed the front door, made misc electrical upgrades and installed new plumbing fixtures in bathrooms, renovated the remaining kitchen with new counters, venting and tiling and also relocated cabinetry. We found storage space behind walls and David the owner of Chetco worked out affordable solutions to create new closets with doors and lighting. There were numerous other tasks involving carpentry, plumbing and neglected home maintenance. While the work expanded in scope it was the result of discovering either deficiencies to repair or functionality to be gained. With David Chettle’s extensive background in construction we were able to make significant improvements to the house on budget on time and with innovative solutions. Chetco Homes is highly recommended by me for their trust worthiness, ability to provide affordable and elegant solutions and quality of work. We plan on using them for future Reno’s.
After discovering severe hidden dry rot in my bathroom exterior wall I asked around for a trusted company and was told to call David at Chetco Homes.
David was onsite to look at the damage and come up with a plan shortly after I contacted him.
David and his team were very accommodating and patient with my questions and concerns throughout the entire process. They were able to come up with a new design that would fit in with the character of my home and my budget!
100% + happy with the completed reno and confident the job was done right!
Plumber he was using charged me extra over agreed price for installing pre-fab shower; it leaks in 2 different spots, I had to re-caulk all the joints. One panel is already detaching from the wall (insufficient number of screws to attach to wall) I had to put in new plastic flashing. House was full of construction dust, though I had left plastic sheets to separate work areas. Not sure how plumbing to sewer was done, but now upstairs bathroom gets constant reflux of sewer gas (that never occurred before).
Response to rebuttal: The contractor replied "I explained if we picked up a smaller unit for around $400. we could do the job within the price I had quoted and sell the bigger unit on Kijiji . he said no he wanted the big unit and agreed to the extra cost."
No reference to a smaller unit/selling on kijiji was made to me, only that the plumber wanted $750 more. This doesn't negate the fact that the shower STILL LEAKS and the sewer gas smell is a result of the work done, as it was never a problem before.
Well This is the first I have herd of any of these complaints. Home owner left us to do the job wile he was away for a few weeks. He showed me a shower unit he had in boxes in his garage that he had paid $1,700 for. As it turned out the unit was to big for the area and was not a simple unit to assemble. I called him to to explain The difficulties of installing this oversize unit in the basement with only a headroom clearance of 72 inches. I explained if we picked up a smaller unit for around $400. We could do the job within the price I had quoted and sell the bigger unit on Kijiji. He said no he wanted the big unit and agreed to the extra cost. As far as the dust, we had to cut concrete floor in basement We took all precautions, tapping off door entrance and shunting down heat and air system. Had he contacted me regarding any complaints he had we would had addressed the problem.
Dave and Mark did a great job of planning the project and construction of the shed base. Their knowledge of the area and the soil conditions will ensure that the shed will stay true to the original setup. The building knowledge they have made the project. No leaks, no door or floor problems. They're easy to work with and the cleanup was complete.
The other key point is that I had a deadline to meet in order to complete other renovations which they met with time to spare.
Quality work on time at the agreed price with guidance about the foundation. Shed kits can be trying to say the least.
Thanks Dave and Mark.
Great people to work with. Job went great. Doug's wife make one heck of a great sandwich with Doug's instructions HA HA. But left on her own she made one heck of a cake. We even had friends and family drop by to offer some encouragement.
Enjoy your new shed and thanks for the job.
David and Mark
Dave did a 400 square foot two story addition on our cottage and installed a bathroom in an existing closet space with a new roofline. We wanted to preserve the style of the building and use the existing windows. This project was completed in approximately 7 weeks from the foundation being dug and we are completely satisfied with the quality and outcome. The addition looks like it really belongs. Dave consulted with us as the work was done and was very cooperative as was the team of trades that worked with him.

It seems everyone always wants the best price and that is not unreasonable. But, when the best price is given, it should be understood that, if the contractor is honorable, that really is the best price. One cannot expect something for nothing or for a business to compromise its service and integrity.
