Coast Cabinetry and Millwork

Rich lives in Campbell River and completed a job for us in Nanaimo in 2015. I initiated contact with him most of the time but he was open and honest in our dealing with him. He even changed the design mid-way after realizing that the plan to leave space for a larger fridge wasn't going to work. The level of work is acceptable and for the price great. It's 2018 now and I'm surprised and a little saddened at the poor reviews as I'd planned to ask him to build our kitchen island.

Richard McCarthy took my money and never refunded me when I returned the table he made because it had cracked and warped into an unacceptable state. He stole 525$. He blamed his wood supplier - but we all know it is easy to check the humidity level of the wood before making something with it. He comes off as a nice honest guy but he will take your money and the product you returned and you will never hear from him again!

We paid this man a very, very large deposit in Feb 2015. He was supposed to install a brand new kitchen for us. When the time came for him to show up and do the work, he was nowhere to be found. Phone call, texts and emailed were left unanswered. After finally tracking him down, we were told by him that he had lied and that work was never even started on our cabinets. He promised to build the kitchen and get the job done. We never saw him again. He has our hard earned cash and has caused much stress and grief. He doesn't care about the multiple lawsuits or the dozen other people that he has done this too. Thousands of dollars are stolen and there are some great people out there that have been hurt by this crook. DO NOT use his services. He comes across as a "good guy" and talks the talk, but as soon as he has your cash, you'll never see him again.

I posted a review in October 2015 about this contractor he has since returned all of my deposit money. I cannot remove the review as your policy states but I will confirm that he did return my deposit. The amount was $500.00 dollars. I can't speak on behalf of other clients but in my case and my case alone the previous review should now be removed.

Do not trust this man! He is a CON MAN. He gives you a quote and takes a 50% deposit then never does the work. He currently has several Law suits against him which he doesn't show up to court for. I know of at least 10 other people he has ripped off for Thousands of dollars each. Be warned he is a criminal.

Richard has made 3 custom built in cabinets and wall shelves for us over the past few years. We have just hired him to build a wall bed. He has been friendly, helpful and professional with us and he produces excellent quality work on budget. We look forward to seeing our latest project.

Hired this company on July 12, 2015 for a whole kitchen and bathroom supply and install. Paid him 50% deposit of $4000 on July 7th. Finally, in the last week of August they installed all the boxes, some of which didn't fit properly because Rich McCarthy the owner hadn't measured correctly. Since then nothing else! We called and no answer. We texted and he said he'd be over in a few hours, or the next day, and he had the counter built and would bring it over....and then he wouldn't show up. Empty promises that he "Wanted to do a good job, and get it done", but he didn't. We've lost $4,000! DON'T HIRE THIS GUY OR COMPANY!!!
