If I could give them a 'no star', I would. Does not stand behind their product. Does not respond to emails or phone calls. Extremely poor communication. Had to go in person to attempt a resolution for a cracked fireplace hearth they had just installed. He did nothing to resolve the problem. I even offered to have the work redone at cost. Still not willing to help. I'm out $1000 plus. Really hope this business owner goes under. If you use them, BEWARE and you were warned!
Nick and his staff were extremely courteous and helpful in assisting us to pick the counters we required in way of configuration and colour. Installation perfect, no mess and paid perfect attention as to not to dirty any areas of our home.
Nick designed and installed my new kitchen granite countertops.I'm very happy with them. I didn't experience any trouble, and found him to be timely and professional. He was recommended to me by my local contractor who has worked with him several times. What I liked about Nick was his insistance on using a full thickness slab. Not a stone veneer with an extra piece glued on around the edge. The quality of his work appeared to be important to him. Someone else I recommended him to had trouble getting him to finish the work on time However my experience was a good one so I thought it only fair to let others know. Getting trades people lined up and in and out on time does seem to be a challenge for all - including them I'm sure.
I had Nick at counter reactions install my kitchen counter. He came recommended by a friend of my father. He does not answer his phone or return calls. It sometimes would take days and numerous messages before he returned a call. Finally he came by to take measurements after numerous calls and days and days of delaying my renovation. I should have gave up and moved on. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because he was polite and said he was very busy lately. I thought his work must be good.
I had my granite picked out and set aside at the warehouse within a couple of days. I called Nick to inform him. He took days to get back to me and I had to leave numerous messages. He confirmed over the phone that he was aware I picked out "Lennon" style granite.
So after more unanswered calls, numerous messages, and the person who referred me making a trip down to the business to express his displeasure with my negative experience after he referred me to them... Nick said the granite was cut and ready to install.
He arrived a week later to install the granite. As he installed it I noticed something seemed different. So much time had passed since I picked it out I wasn't sure. As soon as my mother walked in at the completion of the installation she took one look at the counter and said, "Thats not what we picked out". I said "Isn't this Lennon?" He then said "No, its (some other style)".
He blamed the mix up on the warehouse but I believe it was the week of lag time between the time I selected the slab and he picked it up for fabrication. They only hold it for 4 or 5 days. He knew initially what I had selected but something was lost in the messaging along the line between him and the warehouse.
Nick did say he would remove it and replace it with the correct granite free of any additional charges, and all in a timely manner. He put a rush on it and in 2 days returned to install the correct stone. The installation looks poor in places with larger than normal seems but I live with it.
He was polite. I'm just glad I didn't pay any cash for the job until the correct stone was installed.
Initially Nick seems like a really nice guy. He does NOT know what customer service is all about. Nor does he listen to what the customer is asking; so you end up with something wrong and he WILL NOT respond to any calls to come back and fix his work.
My husband and I owned a contract company and we both know that service is key.
Nick came in and measured our kitchen for us; we then spoke about what kind of sink we would like and how the faucet should be positioned. At that time we did not decide but we were told we could get back to him. Nick gave us his feedback and said "he would like it in the middle over two sink". We then went to pick out our granite. At that time Nick said that we have a few day to get back to him. We also saw a few nice pieces that we could use in our ensuite and main bath but this would need to be measure and done afterwards.
We received a call back two days later saying the granite was ready to be installed. We were a little concerned/confused as we did not decide on the type of sink yet or the where the faucet should be placed. Nick said he did it for a double sink, in the middle.
This is where the nightmare begins!
The sink I was told was bigger than my previous one and that it should be fine, so we finally agreed to have it installed. Once it was set in place I noticed that in fact the sink was SMALLER! The initial feedback to Nick he said that we could look at possibly getting another sink that can fit the cut out in that would be bigger. That he would look for it.
There were several calls from both my husband, myself and the person that referred us to Counter Reactions and no response. Nick lied when we did in fact reach him and said he had a sink and would be by to replace it. This NEVER happened.
To add to the wrong sink issue the island was installed off center by ¾ of an inch. Nick said he would come back and fix this. Never did! Also the additional work we wanted to do the main bath and ensuite the jobs are too small for another contractor to consider doing the job.
Now one year later the seam/cut over by the sink has come apart. I did reach out to Nick and he was very apologetic and said I will be in your area the next few days and will come by and fix it. That he would call to confirm on the day before he was going to come. As expected he did not call, nor when my husband or I called did he answer. We both left a message hoping he would right his wrong but nothing has changed.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND COUNTER REATIONS TO ANYONE! THIS IS NOT HOW YOU DO A JOB RIGHT!

Counter Reactions uses only the best quality stone from many regions of the world. This is one of the reasons Counter Reactions ONLY uses 3CM material! Other shops use 3/4" slabs and glue another strip on the front to make it look thicker. No matter how good they are you can see that seam. Not only that, the cut out at the sink is thinner then the front edge. Our stone is one solid thickness making our tops stronger and better looking.
So if you are thinking of a full scale kitchen Renovation, or a quick countertop upgrade then make Counter Reactions your first choice.
