My wife and I were thinking about some kitchen renovations so we decided that the best foot forward was to obtain some quotes. A close friend told us we should consider calling CRS Granite Ltd first. I called the office on Monday and spoke to Pam who set up an appointment for the owned Doug Jones to attend at our residence on Saturday.
When Doug attended, for an in home evaluation, he brought; counter top, cupboard door and door handle samples so we could choose what we wanted. During our first meeting we noted that Doug projected honesty, integrity, professionalism and knowledge.
A few days later we received Doug's written quote which we found to be reasonable.
We subsequently hired Doug's company to remodel our kitchen. Doug and his employees worked together to accomplish a professional transformation of our kitchen.
The work was done in a reasonable time span without a lot of inconvenience on our part. We would not hesitate to recommend CRS Granite Ltd to anyone who may be planning a house renovation of any kind. Give their office a call you will be glad you did.
Thanks Doug, we love our new kitchen.

Love our newly renovated kitchen, and are so happy we decided to go with CRS! Doug and his team did a great job, and we are so happy with the results. They were professional, friendly, and everything was organized and planned out well. Our renovation was executed exactly when they said it would be.
Great job, Doug and his crew are very polite and professional.

The work was done professionally and completed on time. The quartz counter is beautiful. The renovation was a positive experience. Our kitchen was done previously to the same superior standard. We would recommend CRS to anyone.

The work that CRS did for me was outstanding. Since I was bringing a few doors to be re-finished, they had to carefully match the existing color.
They were honest and up front about the expectations and the results. I trusted them to do their research and color matching, and eventually the sanding and re-finishing.
Their craftsmanship and attention to detail was flawless.
I would highly recommend them as they were polite and professional.
Thank you for your kind words Andrew! We enjoyed working with you on your project! All of us at CRS appreciate when customers take the time to write about their experience, and we appreciate the feedback. Hope you enjoy your refreshed doors!

CRS was a pleasure to work with. Not only due to the quality of the finished product (which was outstanding), but because the attentiveness of the design and installation team throughout the process. Their experience was evident in the design suggestions and attention to small details. We really appreciated Doug's suggestions, which ultimately resulted in something much better than what we had initially envisioned.
Thank you for your kind words Jared. All of us at CRS enjoyed working with you on your kitchen renovation. We hope you enjoy your beautiful new countertops, they are beautiful and the waterfall edge is stunning!

I highly recommend this company. They are very efficient and the work is top notch. Timelines promised were strictly adhered to. An error by a subcontractor was remedied by CRS immediately and at no additional cost to me. My house was left clean every day and the staff was very professional and friendly. The most appealing feature was that the timelines were adhered to. This is unusual for any renovation.

We had a great experience with CRS! Finishing our basement was something we've wanted to do since we purchased the house and we found CRS working on another house in our neighborhood. The crew and staff were great, they answered our questions, made suggestions for materials and even improved the plans we initially had to close in the furnace area.
Our basement was unfinished when we started, with a bit of work done by the previous owners - which CRS fixed and improved. We wanted to keep the open space of the main area but decided to close off the furnace and water heater, so we created a utility room. Everything else was framed and drywalled, with doors added to separate the laundry room and workshop. A new door was also installed for the cold cellar. We can often have a number of computers running in the basement so we made sure to install additional outlets and pot lights so CRS's electrician increased our power by installing a "pony" box to extend our existing electrical box. Our stairs and landing also got a makeover, CRS added proper support for the landing and closed off the back of the stairs. The only thing not taken care of was around the windows - CRS asked about finishing the window boxes but we opted not to have them finished as we are hoping to replace the windows relatively soon, so CRS left them unfinished at our request.
There was a bit of a hiccup in the timeline of our renovation as we decided to install a backwater valve in our sewer pipe - something that can only be done from a plumber selected by the city, for us to be eligible for a rebate - as well as repair work to the pipe itself as damage had been caused by our tree roots. The plumber that we choose from a list of about 5 options (city selected) was not very good and caused delays. CRS was unable to continue parts of the renovation because of this plumbing company until they were done, but once those issues were taken care of, CRS was back at it completing the job.
The work CRS did is fantastic, they listened to what we wanted and they delivered! We love our new basement!

Fired CRS 9 weeks into a 4 week project. Escalating costs, unreliable owner and workforce. CRS took on much more than they could handle with a large kitchen and basement Reno. Proceed with caution on what you are promised and the price quoted.
CRS entered into a sales contract on June 5, valued at $ 76,053.75 + HST, with a 10% contingency fund of $8,594.07 to cover unknowns. A site measure was completed on June 12, to prepare line drawings to obtain a building permit, zoning clearance, assess plumbing, electrical and HVAC requirements. June 24, final drawings, order confirmation detailing item by item, & site readiness was sent following the Ontario Consumer Protection Act.
July 7, a draft install schedule was sent with a start date of Aug 8, subject to change depending on electrical, plumbing, HVAC & permit. CRS quoted for electrical on Jul 17 & plumbing on Jul 27, however the client hired their own electrician, plumber & HVAC. The project started on Aug 8, with a projected completion date of Sept 5, based on the scope of work at that time. Several obstacles with electrical, plumbing, HVAC & structural issues were discovered during the demolition phase that were unknown & not included on the original sales order. Client was sent a detailed list of work order changes with costs, adding $7,304 + HST to the total. Aug 26, the clients HVAC contractor had to re-install the hood vent as it was not centre to the cabinets, delaying the install of the kitchen.
Sept 2, City engineers advised that a second support post and footing was required, adding $750 + HST to the project, which the client accepted, but complained CRS was nickel and diming them. CRS responded I m sorry you feel we are nickel and dimming you as this is simply not the case. Our order confirmation process is in place to protect both parties, eliminating any confusion on what is included and what is not. Our site readiness guideline is in place to avoid any misunderstandings during the installation process to keep the project moving forward. Changes or add-on items are not uncommon to cover the unknown that I manage, assisted by our Project Manager, and General Manager . Sept 5, the client s plumber cut into a major support post in the kitchen, that carried the point load of the second floor. The ABS was also configured poorly, causing significant delays outside of our control.
Sept 22, the client requested a design change on the layout of the island by extending the length which exceeded the length of the slab. Sept 30, Doug Jones (owner of CRS) completed installing the remaining cabinets in the kitchen, & spent 2 hours with the husband reworking the layout of the island. Doug had a look at the completed basement at which point the husband wanted to know what the plan was to hide the electrical panel. Doug advised CRS could make a custom cabinet but would be at an extra cost. The husband began verbally attacking Doug, claiming that a custom cabinet should be considered wall construction, which Doug responded was absurd. Doug asked the husband to stop shouting, or he would leave to allow the husband time to cool off. While leaving the home, the verbal attacks and foul language continued, ending with Your Fired ! On Oct 2, CRS received in writing that CRS was no longer welcome in his home. Oct 3, CRS informed the client they were in breach of their sales agreement. The client s wife responded, at the advice of their lawyer, venting her frustration, but she d like CRS to finish the cabinetry work, & credit them for the counters, backsplash & sink as part of a settlement offer. Doug, responded stating her assessment was one-sided, but CRS wasn t unreasonable, & would agree to issue a credit for the labour costs on the remaining work, but not the products already purchased, now held in storage.
Oct 11, the client settled their account with CRS, picked up the items, & the project file was closed. We strive to deliver the highest quality products & services to our clients, however we cannot offer them for free, which is an ongoing challenge in the renovation industry.

They lived up to everything they said they would do. They started and finished exactly on time. The product was exactly as they described and the quality of installation was outstanding. The price was exactly as quoted....no "add ons". It is rare and rewarding to find such honest and skilled tradespeople as Doug and his team.
Thank you for you kind words Jamie. It was a pleasure working with you on your kitchen project. The counters and backsplash look fantastic!
