We gave Chris a sizeable cash deposit (he has $20,000 of our money) and have now been 5 1/2 weeks delayed with minimal communication. No return texts, phone calls or emails. He was suppose to come to our house today to continue working on our install and AGAIN excuses as to why he isn't there have been given. First it was he had too many jobs, then it was his machine broke, then we heard he didn't have the paint, a worker was sick and then someone quit. EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES.....we were told we would "be a priority and he would get our job done" but yet AGAIN we have been pushed back. We have moved into a home missing various pieces in the kitchen/baths and laundry rooms including cabinets, trim, kick plates, no master closet, no window seats or bookshelf we paid for! We also have NO door handles installed in the entire house with the existing cabinetry he has installed - to which most of their soft close does not close properly. We have bugged and BUGGED him to give us an ETA and nothing! We gave him a sizeable cash deposit (SEE ABOVE) - big mistake! Be forewarned of this company read the reviews others have posted and talk to contractors in the industry that are located in the Niagara region who know oh him and his reputation! We are still waiting for our cabinets etc to be complete!!!!! We are now 5.5 weeks delayed and have been pushed back again. Our contract was signed September 16th, 2015. We have just finished submitting a complaint online with the BBB and have found another review online that states they contacted the Ministry of Customer Affairs in regards to Chris Goosen's company. Practices like this are unacceptable and no one should have to chase their cabinet maker when building a home itself is far stressful enough without this headache.
On May 17, we signed a contract with Custom Cabinet Concepts, a business from St. Catharines where we are from. We gave Chris Goosen, owner and operator, $4000. cash as a deposit towards the total cost of building and installing our cabinets of $7500.00. Chris informed us that in two days, he would return with a door sample so that we may choose our countertops and tiles from our other suppliers. Our kitchen cabinets were to be installed on June 16th. Well, we didn't hear from him in two days but we assumed he was busy. After four days, we started calling but either the answering machine was full or when we left messages, he didn't return them. We couldn't get a hold of him. We decided to go to his workshop. He was no where to be found. There was little to no material or activity in there. There were two people there, one was Mr. Goosen's web designer and another individual who wasn't doing much. Our daughter got involved by contacting the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and writing a formal letter requesting our money be returned since the terms of our contract had already been broken by Mr. Chris Goosen. After sending the letter by email, he called our daughter one hour later informing her the money would be returned in 3 days time. Today is the third day and he has continued to make excuses of why he doesn't have the money to return to us. He claims he spent our deposit on "paying bills and rent". This is the money we gave him to buy material to start our cabinets. We are deeply concerned that we've lost the money and that other people have been victimized by him too.
