This phrase has been bantered around for decades and most people assign the origin of it to project management. So what are contractors talking about when we say 'pick any two?'

We couldn't be happier with the work and service we received from John and Neil of Datawise. They were prompt, professional, personable, and the work was done quickly and efficiently.
I would definitely have them back to my home for any future electrical work, and highly recommend them to family and friends.
One Saturday morning, we lost power in three of our outlets and the light switches in the front hall. I made a call to Datawise Solutions and was told John would call when he could. Within 20 minutes, John called me and said he would be by about 1 pm and that's when he showed up. Our problem turned out to be quite hard to find, but John was able to find it and fix it. He also replaced the outlets as well as the light switches. All at a very reasonable price.
I found John to be very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I would recommend Datawise Solutions to anyone having electrical problems!
Having electrical issues is never fun, but even more so when you are in the middle of a heatwave and your air conditioner is out. Having dealt with an electrical issue before, I reached out to the pro’s, Datawise Solutions Inc.
I cannot tell you how wonderful this company is. Within two hours of the call John Kuehnl-Cadwell, was at my home investigating the issue and quickly brining is back to cool. In addition, he noticed a small receptacle cover that was broken, so He promptly organized for another repair person to install the new cover.
At the risk of sounding over the top, John and his fabulous team are simply the BEST and Datawise Solutions Inc. should be the only company anyone requiring electrical services should call.

John was very polite and was here when he said he would be here. Found the problem with my electric to my garage and also found that l had l wire loose on another fuse and fixed it as well. I would refer you guys to anyone that need electric work done because you guys are right on the ball when people call. You don't leave people hanging around waiting for a call when they call you. You are right back to them right away.
If you had more then 5 stars I would give it that rating.
The response time was quick and the electrician came with back up batteries ect.
He corrected our problem quickly and was very informative how to precede in the future. The cost of the service was most reasonable. Definitely our company for any future electrical needs.

Our home in Fonthill was experiencing fluctuations and surges in power. Breakers were tripping and appliances began failing. An emergency call to DataWise was made on Sunday February 10/19. Within the hour they were onsite and diagnosed that the neutral from the meter was burnt out. The 60 amp service was inadequate and a new 100 amp service was needed including stack, etc. Electricity was off to the house in the coldest part of winter but the very next morning Monday February 11/19 they had a crew working through a snow storm all day rebuilding the service. Many more details of the expertise and attention to detail could be written but space does not allow. Seldom have we gotten such quality service as this company rendered. We highly recommend them without reservation!
Datawise was prompt in responding to my service call, professional and efficient in the execution of service.
John and his apprentice were able to troubleshoot and discover the issue was with a bad switch at the boiler.
John also addressed a couple of other concerns I had concerning my panel. His sincere advise included: what the priority was, what I didn't need that another Contractor might insist was necessary, and options going forward.
I will certainly use Datawise in the future and recommend them to anyone who needs an Electrical Contractor.
I would recommend datawise solutions to anyone looking for electrical assistance. When I contacted John concerning our home having aluminum wiring he was very quick to respond and alleviate our concerns with aluminum wiring. John promptly visited our home and explained the difference between aluminum and copper wiring. Next we arranged a mutual acceptable time for John's company to inspect all our switches, outlets and the main electrical service to our home. John also arranged to have the Electrical Safety Authority visit our home and issue an inspection report as part of the process. When John's staff were at our home they were very professional and respectful of our home. I would definitely use Datawise solutions for any future electrical work. John turned a potentially stressful situation into a very positive experience. Once again Thank you John and to your staff for your quick resolution to our electrical issue.

This phrase has been bantered around for decades and most people assign the origin of it to project management. So what are contractors talking about when we say 'pick any two?'
Recently I was involved in a conversation with some fellow tradesmen (I was the only Electrical Contractor (EC)) on the topic of "Value". The topic was really about how to explain to a client about the value of work that is not seen not "lipstick and mascara". So to help explain some of the differences in the electrical area I will offer up the following.
There is nothing stopping you and your Electrical Contractor from adding more to the requirements of the code to meet your future needs. While there is a cost to do this, the cost of doing it during the renovation or build is far less than doing it several years down the road where it is possible that you will end up removing some of your new renovation work to facilitate the new requirement.
Just like many other electrical contractors (ECs), I get numerous calls for estimates to upgrade a client's electrical panel or service. For many ECs this is the mainstay of their business and are very good at doing them quickly and with excellent quality. However, don't be fooled just because they have done many of these upgrades. Just like any other type of work, do your due diligence, ask the right questions and do your homework.
I was recently at a client's home and while discussing how to solve a particular electrical problem they were having, I came across a bundle of wires. I originally thought that they were computer network cables and then I took a few minutes to look at the markings on the cables and explain what they meant and what they might be for. As you can imagine the response was, "it's all Greek to me".
I am sure there are not many of us that have not been the brunt of a joke that took us unsuspectingly by using terminology that we were not familiar with. While we went along willingly looking for the left-handed screwdriver , when it comes to electrical work don t let your electrical contractor try to bedazzle you with terms and acronyms that leave you confused or unsure.
I can always tell when home sales are up or insurance policies are due; I get calls for aluminum wire inspections. One of the most important things during my AL wire inspection is educating the potential buyer or the current homeowner on the facts about AL wire and helping them sort out the hyperbole that their house is going to burn down because it has AL wring or some other ridiculous statement.
This is the call of hundreds, if not thousands of fire safety organizations and fire departments around North America, and I believe that most of us think it is true, smoke detectors save lives.
Everywhere in Canada a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) is required in different parts of homes and businesses. A whole article on the building code requirements and interpretations could be written, but today I want to focus strictly on the facts and fictions surrounding GFCIs.
