Didn't complete the job... spent 4 months trying to get him to finish job. Paid for services that never got completed and had to take financial loss having to have another contractor take down and finish the job.
If there was an option for six stars I'd have chosen that instead.
First off, through my line of work I know a lot of contractors, but I chose D.C Contracting when my wife and I wanted to start work on a kitchen counter top and sink renovation. Why? Simple, I've seen the quality of work from previous jobs and I was very impressed.
Chris came over to give my wife and I a quote and we mentioned that we were also hiring someone to clean out our drain pipes as we had a major back-up. He said "save your money on that, I'll do it for you". Before we even got the main job started he came back out and blasted the hell out of our clog and saved us hundreds of dollars!
We had a design for the counters in mind and Chris was very happy to work with it and gave us some input and helped us perfect the tile layout. He showed a true passion for what he does, explaining that he doesn't want to do a job if the results are just going to be "okay", he wanted to make it truly special.
Not only did he replace the sink and remove our horrible garbage disposal, but he redid all of the pipes under the sink with brand new PEX hosing, explaining through the entire job exactly how he was doing it, why he was doing it and what the purpose of each material and tool was. I learned a lot just from talking with him while he worked and also felt that he was taking great pride in every step of the job.
At one point, through no fault of DC Contracting, we were left without water for the night, and the next day Chris came over as early as he could to fix it for us as he said he couldn't even sleep that night as he wanted to get everything corrected for us as soon as possible.
I would recommend D.C Contracting to any and all of my friends as I could trust that they would be in good hands and well taken care of. My wife and I felt truly valued as clients and are so pleased with the work done that we are making a list of other projects that we will hire them back for later in the year.
My husband and I hired Chris Woods to renovate our home; drywall, trim, paint, flooring, refurbish two bathrooms, & new kitchen cabinets made by him. When we met him he seemed knowledgeable and capable, with lots of good ideas for how to get the job done right. He seemed to take a lot of pride in his work. He also said he could get the job done by the end of July when we were scheduled to have family visit. Over the course of the job we paid him most of the contract money as well as paid him in full for the kitchen. In the end, he did not complete A SINGLE THING on our home & we are not only having to hire ppl and finish it ourselves, but we are also finding problems with a lot of his work (cabinet doors not right/drywall wasn't properly mudded/cracks in drywall from bad mudding etc.). He could not organize the work on our home and had a lot of trouble focusing on finishing tasks; I even ended up doing most of the tiling on my and then all of the grouting myself on my shower (even though I had never done that before) because he just wouldn't finish it or hire someone to do the work AND I did the backsplash on my vanity which he was supposed to do...and now he has photos of my tiling work on his web site & social media as though he did the work. Also, he was not able to keep steady workers on the job (resulting in several random ppl working at our home at different times) and we were even contacted by one of them after we removed Chris from our home because Chris was refusing to pay him-saying he had no money. When our family arrived for the visit he left us with only one working bathroom, no door hung in the guest room (or bathroom), numerous plugs exposed, most of the kitchen hasn't been delivered or finished, most of the trim hasn't been installed, he ruined the carpet we bought and didn't even get it installed, and he didn't finish the flooring anywhere in the house, and the painting isn't done...even though he made a lot of grand promises to come through for us. This is just a small example of our problems with him.
He has no regard for how greatly he let us down with not having the house ready for our family; in fact, he blames us for his incompetence. And although we paid him a huge sum of money he claims he is flat broke...we'd be very interested to know where all our money went, considering we bought all of the materials ourselves and had it delivered to the house...on top of paying him his contract fee...
Chris also used several of our personal items for his construction work. He ruined my household broom, two of my step ladders, a 5 gallon pail I bought to use for my business, a halogen light from our shop, & other things...just went ahead & used them instead of providing his own.
And, as a side note, he stank of pot ALL THE TIME, but especially after his frequent & extended visits to his truck.
We also found out that he is not even licensed with Service Alberta and is not authorized to contract work so we are entitled to cancel our contract with him and demand our money back (which we have done).
Now, almost a year after we put Chris out of our home he has “rebutted” my review of him. Apart from displaying dozens of pictures of unfinished work in my home (including the tiling work around my tub and backsplash which I did myself on our bathroom), I am shocked and dismayed that he has the indecency to have published text messages between myself and him. I have spent the past many months fixing & finishing the work on our home myself (as well as hiring someone to fix the carpeting ge ruined) and he still has not made a single attempt to deliver the rest of the kitchen cabinets we paid for in full.
It is bad enough to have gone through what I did with Chris, but it is devastating to have my frustrations and placating to him on display. While there were legitemate times I was happy with the way things were going there were MANY more when I got frustrated and upset with Chris and he always had an excuse for himself and I always found myself feeling bad and praising him, apologizing, & feeling like a fool. The text messages he published for whoever to see were (and are) personal between us & I would never do that to someone. I myself am in construction and I also know how hard a home rennovation is to live with, and I also know that this has been a nightmare that won’t end and I am mortified by Chris (again) to see that he chose to publish our private text conversations. Believe me, I know I am not the only person to have had a bad contractor experience, but I never expected to have hired someone like Chris.
And while Chris has chosen to publish our text conversations (however mundane or significant), he has not published the last conversations I had with him (which were emails & texts) of him grovelling for money and promosing to make things right.

Currently taking Dc contracting YEG to small claims court for unfinished service's
It would appear that the same cabinets that he claimed were is his basement he used on another job site.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH D.C. CONTRACTING YEG
I had paid for services and products to include the following description and paid him in full. Build layout for cabinets. Build doors and drawers of cabinets, Stain and Finish install cabinets and hardware on site. He built some sample cabinet doors.
They were not constructed well with big gaps in them and large cracks down the middle. He had stained some cabnit door but had used old stain from a previous job.
Due to the poor quality of product, I made the suggestion to him that he could work off the money with other labor items such as lating flooring. I have no product from this vendor and I have had to pay for another whole set of cabinets from another vendor for the house.
After repeated attempts to try to reconcile for services, product and or labor the vendor now refuses to speak to me and has said the money I provided to him has been used up, I would like to recoup my money back from him and walk away. In addition the best business bureau has tried to contact Mr woods several times about this matter and he has not responded.
I have asked D.C. contracting yeg to provide me a break down of where the money was spent. They could not
They also confessed that the money was spent on there rent,
When I ask for my money or cabnits D.C. contracting yeg verbally attached me.
Leaving the job unfinished and breaking are agreement
It would appear that D.C. contracting has posted some pictures in there response, they appear to be from other job off there website. (Looks like a t.v stand) LOOKS like they posted cabnit pictures to make it look like they did more work. But my invoice is for doors.
Also repeating the same pictures.
Zoom in and you can see the poor quality
And no he never bought any paint for my job. But that was only one of the issues.
It was the unbelievable poor craftsmanship
I have add the cabinet layout that I was promised also the new set of cabnits that I had to pay for.
My name is Christopher and my company is D.C Contracting YEG and I have a negative review ...This man did hire me actually on two different houses ...but there is no truth in Jeff Bobst review.
I did a sample door for cabinets for him then he gave me the go ahead. He came to my shop at my home 4 days a week for four weeks and he changed the colour of stain 6 times and kept say darker darker it needs to be darker ....well what he was meaning was 0 grains showing in the wood as he chose maple veneer you won't ever get no grain finish with the stains he chose ... and one day he calls and says I'm going to get the colour today well use cabinet paint ....now at this point ive worked five weeks catered to this man spend double then anticipated sue to 15 different colour and I can only sand each door so much till it's wrecked. That evening when i got home there was two cans of cabinet paint at my shop door .....so once again at this point it's starting to cost me money. Five days later he calls me and says I'm just going to buy them from home depot and get you to install but I'm out of town your going to have to do it for me..... that's when I asked where is this money coming from home depot wanted 8000 without countertop and hardware and he's say to use the money he gave me .....thats where I scratches my head and asked if he was kidding I don't have no money it's been burnt up after 5 weeks of work and all the materials twice ...then he acuses me that I stole from him. I wear my heart on my sleeve couldn't do anyone wrong to anyone so as I was suppose to have another 40,000 dollars of work through him I said I would help chew some of the cost through the other projects .. he got mean he got valiant and told me im fired and went off ...for a week I bit my lip taking his abuse everyday trying to work with him and there wasn't any making sense to him and then I said I've had it im blocking you unless you be reasonable ...he kept Being a bully so I blocked him ...6 weeks later he emails me and says hey man how's the cabinets coming are they ready to install. I told him you fired me so your cabinets are exactly how they were when you fired me but wrapped in industrial surran wrap for protection ready for you to pick up your property that is you rightfully paid for and that's something like 3 months ago and I still have in my basement living room still protected ...but it's not my fault he was so indecisive if anything once he changed his mind right of the bat 4 times i should have said we can't do this deal ...and saved us both money. I literally made no money off the 6 weeks of work and he expected my to go buy him a new set ...its crazy how hard it is to get a review when your clients are happy but some go out of there way to hurt you cause they want to see you fail cause there unhappy with there decision that cost them. Money but put it in the contractor.

I had D C Contracting install flooring in a rental suite. The sub floor was damaged due to dog urine. They repaired the sub floor beautifully and installed the vinyl flooring quickly and professionally at a very reasonable cost. I will definitely recommend and use this company again.
Thanks so much Sandy. We do take pride in everything we do. I would be lying if I said it was our pleasure but due to bad renters the ammonia smell and taste from the urine was enough to make your eyes water but at the end of the day we addressed the situations that faced us and couldn't be more please to know your happy.
Thank you Sandy.

I chose D.C contracting because they were willing to travel for 1227 kms to work on my loghome, which had mold and water damage.
Chris kept in communication the whole time sending photos and updates daily.
He was very efficient and pleasant to deal with while doing an excellent job of what had to be done!
It was definitely a long trip with limited services but a beautiful place to be. Thank you for having such a beautiful view for us to enjoy up there.
Besides the mold it's hard to say it was work. It was more like a working vacation.
Thanks Trish
D.C contracting was a pleasure to work with! Very eager to get the job done at an affordable rate compared to other bids, they made my basement look amazing and did a nice clean job! I will be calling them for future renos.
Thanks guys!
I had five people come to my home. Out of all of them I was ready to just do it my self. Then I seen a ad that caught my attention. 4 weeks later I had three walls finished taped and painted. But also my laundry room was redone with new face wall shelving to fold clothes while pulling clothes out of my built in washer and dryer. New cabinet for over head storage. Looks great. Pictures wouldn't do justice.
Thanks to you and your hard working team!!
MK
It was our pleasure as we truly love what we do.
Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to work for you And your family Matt
