I used Darren Wright to put siding on my single wide mobile home. He told me it would take 3-4 days. It actually took over 30 days to complete. I was out of town for a weekend when they sent me photos to say they were done and demanded payment immediately or they would start taking the siding off my home. I'm glad I didn't pay them because when I got home and inspected the work it was atrocious. Darren cut the continuous eves to install it leaving a 3 inch gap on both ends for water to pour down, he patched holes he cut in the siding instead of replacing the siding and the skirting was a complete embarrassment. He tried to charge me a convenience fee for using a credit card to pay with when he's not an authorized merchant to do so and then he tried to charge me extra for something that was already included in the contract. I don't understand how he is still in business.
Do not hire this people! They did not finish the job and now I cannot contact them as they phone number is not in service anymore. They do not send me the 10 years manufacturer warranty and theirs 2 year warranty is out of discussion as they cannot be found.
I have required this bathroom to be re-done for sometime, and Done Wright Solutions were recommended to me.
I am very pleased with the work done and will gladly pass along the recommendation that was given to me.
DO NOT hire these people. We hired them in April to do a bathroom Reno (replace tub, walls and tiles), they gave us a quote that was the same as everyone else but promised to be done in 3-4 days. 8 days later we had finally asked them to leave given the poor quality of work they had done. They would show up at 12 o'clock each day and work until 10-11 at night despite our request to start earlier given that we have young children that need to get to bed. They promised that the work will be done by professional plumber and tile setter which did not happen. Upon my insistence that I did not want him to do the plumbing, he brought his son in law who is an apprentice to connect the piping this was however after they had installed the tub which meant having to cut a hole in my closet to put an access panel so that they can put the piping in. Even then before the plumber got there, he cut out a piece of pipe without disconnecting the water which led to a leak on the main floor from around the light fixture. He also damaged the tub to which his response was well this stuff happens.
For the tiling he refused to bring in a professional and Darren and his girlfriend did the tiling, as you can see from the pictures below, it is a terrible job has no solution but rip down and redo which Darren refused. I brought in two independent contractors and they both confirmed that the wall and tiles were not installed correctly and the only thing to do is to redo the whole thing.
Darren promised to repay me $500 of the $1500 additional cost I have to pay to redo the walls as long as I promise not to post a negative review online, I agreed but 3 weeks later he is still not paying. For us the bathroom is going to cost us an additional 1500 to what we had paid him and have not had access to our bathroom for over a month because we can't trust the tiling work.
I have more pictures, video, witnesses and independent contractors and all my communications with Darren and be happy to share it with anyone.
Darren if you gonna lie in your response make sure you have proof, the promise to pay for rework was three weeks long and you kept saying the next week (I have all your text to prove it). I offered to have you come over and watch the rework and learn from a pro and find out what I am paying them. I have all communciation and video of your work, it was not one or two tiles. Once the wall was removed the contractor found pieces of 1x6 used instead of proper drywall as required by code. As well, deck screws used to hold my shower nob together. Make sure you have backup for your bs.
In response to this derogatory review we will keep it simple and the actual facts only as so much of customers reviews are based on their own biased opinions and perceptions of their own reality. Firstly DWC has always owned up to any defficiancies or short comings in its jobs. In this case the tile work was not up to DWCs usual standards and we were prepared to fix it at our costs.
The client at this point wanted to bring in another tile setter [a buddy] to fix the couple of tiles in question. We countered with wanting to have our tile setter do the repairs as we could control the costs and scheduling. The customer insists on his guy which is his right as the home owner. WE put a ceiling re imubursment of 500.00 which we offered to pay to our client upon reviewing a legitimate estimate. The client refused to give us any estimate only to say that the cost to fix would be 1500.00. This estimate in our opinion was absurd and very confusing. The client gave us a deadline to pay right down to the last 10 minutes with an e mail threat to go public if we didn't meet his demands. This type of ransom situation I've never experienced in 30 years of contracting so we had to initiate new policy. This policy being we will never give in to such demands. If the client can provide us with a legitimate work order of completed work then we will still refund 500.00 towards his cost. But we will never offer a 500.00 refund simply because a client isn't 100% satisfied, we will always try to make the client a happy one either by fixing the problem or providing added value service at n/c We strive o have the best available trades people working with us at all times so that we can provide our clients with the best job possible. In some cases mistakes are made and we release and hire new trades all the time. In this case we will be interviewing for a new tile setter. We believe a true test of measure for a successful company is how they manage their problems, because every now and then problems arise and we manage them. In this case we were not allowed the opportunity.
I had recently had my bathroom done. I must say i was overly impressed. Darren was very prompt when getting me a quote, drove out to my place the day I called. 4 days total for the work to be finished and my wife is finally off my back to get the bathroom finished!!!
Thanks guys!!!!

This is the second time that we have hired Done Wright Contracting for a bathroom renovation (a year ago they installed a new tile tub surround). Darren attended the very next day after we contacted him, and provided a quote. The work quote was priced fairly and was very reasonable. Rick, who installed the shower tiling, was an exceptional craftsman and paid attention to detail. The finished tiling and grouting was professionally done, and we are extremely pleased with the end result. We have only utilized Done Wright for bathroom renovations, but I would not hesitate to hire them for any renovation project. Darren Wright is knowledgeable and honest, and I would highly recommend this company for anyone engaging in a home improvement project!
I own a mid 80's built condo which required a complete renovation in order to get it up to date. This included replacing main floor carpet with laminate flooring, installing dishwasher (previously did not have one) as well as replace existing kitchen appliances, replace kitchen flooring with slate rock, replace countertops and sink, paint/refurbish existing kitchen cabinets, replace lino in laundry room, replace main entry lino wth slate rock, completely renovate bathroom with new tile on floor and tub, new vanity and sink, as well as paint entire condominium with various shades of paint, as well as miscellaneous carpentry work as it was required.
I was very happy with the quality of work and attention to detail Darren and his team used throughout the job. I liked the suggestions Darren made to improve the property and certainly took his advice and am pleased with how it turned out. As it was an older property which had not really been renovated over the years, a few unexpected items for repair were discovered but Darren was fair with his assessment of the cost, and often repaired and replaced these discoveries at no additional cost.
Overall I was very pleased with the quality of work Darren and his team provided. I would certainly refer people I know to Darren should they be looking for a property renovation such as mine.
I hired him because he said he had an opening next week and wanted a deposit right away to "buy the materials so that it would arrive on time". I needed the project done quickly because there was a leak in the vinyl deck. He started a month late, and after I sent him a few e-mails. He said he was too busy and seemed annoyed that I was reminding him of his start date. Then when he finally started a month later, he said he had to order the materials and to wait another week. I reminded him that he took my deposit to order the materials right away.
The project was not done quickly as it seemed like he had other projects that were a bigger priority. When he was done the job, he wanted to be paid immediately. When I went to inspect the work with him, the work wasn't even 100% completed yet. He said he would come back the next day to finish the work, but he still wanted to be paid right at that time. "Because the boys need to be paid" he said. I agreed that HE should pay them.
During the work, the safety inspector came and made him stop work until all of the safety conditions were met. When he finally finished, he wanted to have the work inspected immediately. I told him I was still at work. He came to my office to look for money before I even had a chance to view his work. I had not given him my office address but somehow he found out anyways. He treats you like a loan shark would treat you. I said I would send him a cheque. He doesn't have a business address on his invoice. Also no business number. Also no WCB number. I could have just hired someone off the street.
If he wants to get paid right away, he should take credit cards.
This clients perception is his own reality, I was contracted to simply remove and replace an existing old improperly installed vinyl membrane on a sundeck which also formed e roof structure over an addition. We started aprox. 1 week from contract date as I did tell him that the vinyl installation was weather sensitive,
The vinyl was leaking due to improper drainage and standing water over time due to improper slope of the deck/roof. at that time in did tell him we would do a complete inspection of the roof structure and insulation and react accordingly. As ii thought the insulation was damaged and the 2x4 joist structure was far below bldg. standards and we requoted the job to replace everything which we had a 3 day delay before we started back up due to weather. the bottomline is yes n we did receive a safety infraction which we addressed and complied with immiedetly There was weather delays in installing the vinyl and we spent 1 week rebuilding the entire roof structure but it was carried out and completed with many changes including new aluminum railings. Because of these changes and inclement weather the job did take aprox, 2 weeks longer than anticipated to nobody's fault and the client seemed to be getting agitated and impatient. As we had other projects on the go that were indoors I focused on those while maintaining contact with the client.
The job was completed and it clearly states on my contract payment on completion which i consider to be after an inspection the same day or evening or next day. The "doctor" seemed to be in no hurry and condecending to me. I don't do the cheques in the mail, final payments are always made in person upon an inspection and satisfactory aproval by the client. When asked where my business address was I explained to him that I have an office out of home with na city home occ license as well as a shop and that I choose not to have my clients know my home address for obvious reasons He didn't seem to understand this again expressing himself in a condecending manner. He didn't return any of my calls or e mails for 11/2 days so I stopped by his office location which by the way any one can get through directory assistance.
He seemed surprised and when I suggested a site visit and full payment he blew me off again. I decided to be professional and take the high road and let cooler heads prevail. The project was carried out professionally and has met all building codes but was considerably more expensive to the client which I"m sure he wasn't pleased with but understood the additional work to be necassery The next day all's good I"m paid so this negative review especially 2 months later comes as a surprise to me. Had I involved the city bldg. and inspection departments. as I should have they could have deemed the addition unsafe and had his tenants relocated. due to improper building practices and materials used in the building of the addition. I chose not to pull a permit after full disclosure to the client about the possible consequences thus saving him time money and grief as I promised him to build it to current alberta building codes and we did , end of story
I liked the work. It was done on time and on budget and according to what we want. They also fixed a part of the vinyl fence with reasonable additional cost. My only complaint is they did not clean up the leftovers woods despite calling them 4 times over a month, and each time promising to come and pick them up.
