After asking a question on this website Shawn contacted me. He claimed to be a professional, showing us previous work on his laptop and naming many jobs he had previously completed. Shawn made many promises of time and warranties, and talked a good game, claiming he had been doing construction since he was a child and that it was a family trade.
Shawn wrote a contract and insisted on permits. Two he took out, but he told us we should take out the electrical and plumbing because he was able to do the work but couldn't pull the permits.
Found out after shawn installed a door he never actually had the permit approved by city.
After problems arrose with electric and plumbing Shawn started claiming that he never did the work and we couldn't prove it because the permits were in our name.
Shawn promised to bring signed contract the next day after signing. He came and started work, then said he forgot it. Every day he had another excuse why it wasn't there. After a month we had to drive across the city at night to his house to actually finally get a copy.
Shawn was very unprofessional. Cut concrete without sealing off area or shutting off furnace. Dust filled our whole home and my 6 month old baby and I had to move out for a week until furnaces could be cleaned at our own expense.
Shawn and his guys were smoking in our basement, had to be asked to stop.
We found empty beer cans after they left on several occasions.
Shawn had a guaranteed completion date of April 1, 2009. By April 28 the work was still incomplete and we had failed our final inspection.
During the process he repeatedly failed inspections, the electrical and plumbing 3 times each, and then the final for building and electrical.
Each time he had an excuse of reason that made it not his fault.
Shawn took half the money up front and twice more during the process. I later found out he in not legally able to do this. This is a prepaid contractor, which has to be licensed with service alberta, he is not.
The work was very poor quality. Other than not passing inspection we had to redo most of his work.
Incorrectly installed laminate in basement with no vapour barrier, no space between wall and edges, and ran out of foam so used cardboard underneath in sections
did not ground dryer outlet- fire and electrical hazzard
did not ground any outlets
improper install of lighting- fire hazzard
staircase did not pass inspection, first riser 10", second 5", then the rest 7"
many other issues- too many to list
About mid April Shawn stopped showing up. He wouldn't answer calls or return messages. When he would show up it would be for an hour or two.
After final inspection didn't pass we had to end the contract.
Shawn had 80% of the money but we had to pay to redo most everything just to pass code.
$10,000 out on top of money given to Shawn now and job is still not done.
When I have phoned Shawn to try to reason with him he has ended all conversations by yelling , swearing, and telling me to sue him if we want our money back.
Shawn with Eagleone contracting was dishonest and in my opinion is not any kind of professional.
He is the horror story contractors you hear about on the news. He took our money, left a poorly done, unsafe job to be finished at our expense.
I would not reccommend Shawn to do any work for anyone.
I hired Shaun to fix a mold problem for me, and at first I thought all my dreams had come true. I thought I had found a contractor who was honest and all about the satisfaction of the customer. Here I find myself 2 months later and the job is still unfinished. Everytime I speak to Shaun I am given countless excuses as to why the job is incomplete. He has told me on several occasions that he will be coming on a specific day , and time and time again he doesn't show up. Shaun doesn't even as much as give me a phone call to say he is unable to make it. Not only did he not come to finish the job, he also left behind a mess for me to clean up. He left behind his extra things claiming to pick them up later, and oh, you guessed it, he never came or called...
I have to say Shaun did give me an excellent price on the job, but I would have rather paid more to have the job done properly. Now I find myself having to have someone else finish what he did not!!!
Shaun had originally asked me to reffer him to others, and I am sad to say that I would NOT reccomend to anyone, to hire Shaun from eagleone contracting. In my opinion his company does not strive for customer satisfaction.
Shaun with Eagleone Contracting is a really nice fellow, he meets his timelines as quoted in his estimations. i had a fence and side walk poured at my house i will be moving into. he strives to make the home owner happy even if he has to spend a little more time to finish the job correctly. his quotations are pretty accurate. i recomend talking to him for a quote.
