We have used the services of EMJ contracting multiple times over a number of years and have had excellent experiences with Sal and his team. He has completed full kitchen renovations, bathrooms, tiling, painting, flooring, minor electrical, faucets, plumbing, patio and landscaping and always went above expectations to complete the work diligently, on time and within budget. What we appreciated is that he always recommended more effective cost saving alternatives and gave us the option of choosing alternate materials without compromising quality. Sure the guys work really fast and the key is to always check the detail (it's your project, your house after all) and ask for updates and physically inspect the work as it progresses. He also always made sure to walk us thru and have us inspect it too. Once the job was completed, we once again checked and although we are not the experts, esthetically things look beautiful and to date everything is still looking top notch. At any point where we needed an adjustment or something changed, Sal responded to us promptly and courteously and found the time during his busy schedule to come and fix. This was very much appreciated.
Just as you would with any contractor, it's best to get the agreement that was verbally agreed on in writing and also keep a track of your own reno expenses.
We have recommended him to many family and friends, and we believe he has done an equally good job for them too.
We wouldn't hesitate to ask EMJ back to do any future home renovations that we may have.
I recently hired Mr. Sal Sweiss from EMJ contracting Limited after one of my friend referred me - to set up a kitchen in my basement, after completing 80% of the work he abandoned the project and did not show up, not answering my calls, not answering my emails and texts...
I don't know but I think he did not liked me when I questioned below 3 things:
1. The Kitchen upper cabinets are too short and were not as per the diagram that he draw on a white paper(please see the photo attached)
2. The kitchen sink lower pipe is Installed in L shape which is the fundamental mistake that will allow tear gases to pass through and I requested him that the trap pipe should be changed to U shape.(please see the photo attached)
3. The new faucet that he Installed has a small dent and I requested him to replace it(please see the photo attached)
Also I noticed that the door lock that I bought and kept in garage was used for one of the doors that he Installed ... when I questioned him, he honestly accepted and said that one of his workers does not know and took it mistakenly
During the kitchen cabinet set up he has removed existing fire alarm in the basement and I cant find it any more in the basement
He left the wastage / garbage during his work in my garage
The mistakes that I did are below
1. I did not see his licenses(he did electrical work for kitchen stove, washer and dryer; plus plumbing work for kitchen sink, washer; and kitchen cabinet set up)
2. I did not make any agreement of the contract
I don't know if this will help me legally but I ensured money was paid by Bank Email Transfers(the total contract was $4600/- and he ensure I have transferred $4100/- via email transfer facility)
The above differences are simple to resolve, I sent him many reminders but Mr. Sal Sweiss did not show up further
He left one saw machine(please see photo attached) in the garage and his shoe in the basement, I have sent him a mail to pick these but no luck yet ... :(
