My review is for Gary Veale Construction. I had some renovations done in early spring 2010 & my overall experience was excellent. Anyone thinking about having some home renovations would be very happy with their work, attitude, work ethic & customer interaction.
This was my first experience in hiring a contractor & these guys exceeded my expectations. They were extremely professional & my bedroom, 2 bathrooms & laundry room were done in a neat & timely fashion. Each night I would check on the progress of the work & was always amazed at how fast the work progressed & how neat & clean my home was after they had finished for the day. I'm a perfectionist by nature & am extremely satisfied with the work they completed. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to do any work to their home.
Living alone with some disability issues, it took months for me to find a contractor. Problems included; no shows, no follow up, the job being too small or it would cost more in travel time than the job. I was very discouraged. Often a Veale Construction truck was in my neighborhood & their name was in the local condo newsletter. Gary Veale, company owner & contractor, came over within a few days to talk about the scope of the job.
I live in a bungalow condominium & was originally interested in soundproofing a single bedroom wall since I could hear my neighbours. After some research, I had ideas about using an expensive product, 'Quiet Rock'. Gary suggested a more cost effective alternative that provided similar benefits without the high cost. I was impressed with other suggestions Gary made & felt confident that I had found the right company for the job.
The original work order would take 2-3 days including replacing crown molding & painting the wall. After the first day of construction I was very happy with the quality of their work, their tidiness, their attitude, so I added on more projects. These were jobs that I was planning on doing at a later date & was hesitant to mention at first until I saw how well the original project progressed. My confidence in the quality of their work helped me decide to add these jobs on since Gary & Jeff were on-site & I felt confident they could manage the additional jobs.
After the original soundproof wall in the bedroom & new paint I expanded the original work order to include: soundproofing the laundry room wall which also connected to my neighbor, some electrical work which included installation of 2 bedroom wall sconces, 2 chandeliers, 2 bathroom lights, installation of crown molding, additional painting, wiring an GFI receptacle in bathroom, removing a section of drywall with supports & rebuilding the wall behind my refrigerator (to allow the fridge to sit flush with the wall). Other jobs included installation of linoleum flooring, replacing a ceiling fan, adding a 3-way switch, increasing the trim size of the existing baseboard without removing the original trim (new idea to them which they liked). Jeff also went up into my attic to move the bathroom exhaust fan to allow for crown molding & lastly, installation of an acrylic sheet 5'X5' in the garage for my garden tools.
Gary & Jeff were so approachable & it never seemed like a problem or too much trouble when I had a concern or question. They were always very accommodating & answered all my questions.
They were; on time, cleaned up after themselves each day, had solutions for problems that arose, detail oriented, worked as a team or independently. They are competent to build a wall, install crown molding, install electrical outlets, painting, trim work. They moved any furniture that needed moving & were flexible, accommodating, fast, neat, clean, covered my carpet while painting, pleasant, easy to work with, great problem solvers & were approachable regarding changes or additional jobs.
What started off as an easy 2 day job, ended up taking 5 full days & I couldn't be more satisfied. Gary & Jeff, you're remarkable! my gratitude!
