Beware of this contractor. I paid him almost $15,000 to do a number of renovations at my condo and he did crappy job and worst of all, I paid him in full and he did not come back to finish the work. Examples of the terrible work he did do are:
-installed new kitchen counter top and instead of cutting the countertop to fit he cut a hole in the wall and shoved the counter top into it, covered it up with silicone so that I could not tell. He actually didn't even nail down or secure the countertop to the frame it sat on either. Just left it floating like that. Also did not install or even provide the second countertop for the kitchen.
-Installed laminate flooring and didn't level floor properly. The flooring rises and falls when walked on.
-Undercut door frames way too high and now I have 1/2 to 3/4 inch gaps between floor and base of door frames.
-Didn't allow kitchen paint to adequately dry before apply more coats. Paint ended up peeling off like big strips of stretchy leather or fruit roll ups. Have had to have the kitchen totally redone.
-Didn't install transitions in doorways
-Used silicone to seal bathroom and kitchen counters to wall. Paint bled into silicone. Also learned that you can't paint over silicone so it needs to be scrapped off if I want to repaint. Apparently he should have sealed with dap not silicone as you can paint over dap.
-Promised to come back to finish the work and do touch ups especially since I paid him in full, then disappeared, didn't answer calls or emails. Even changed his cell phone number. After waiting almost a month I suddenly got an email from him claiming that he layed his staff off and went out of businness. Didn't even have the money to pay them.
Beware of this guy! He also has another company registered in his wife's name called Floor to Sealing listed on the BBB website. I think Goldstar is registered in his wife's name too, and I've seen him post on craigslisttas the Floor Doctor and other names. Very shady and untrustworthy. Do not hire this guy!
Will not return any calls or emails once job was completed, promised before and after pictures and warranty have not received it. Also was supposed to come back to do touch ups, has not. Job site was not clean and worked very slow, promised alot but did not produce, talked the talk but never walked it, please be aware, I would not recomend to anyone....
