Definitely not done to the standard I had hoped. A week later and the garbage is still on my lawn that they said they would remove and weeds are starting to protrude through the asphalt. Wish I had read these reviews before committing.
Definitely not "good guys". These people gave me a quote ($9,000) to re-surface my porch (it was in really bad condition) with concrete. I got a couple of other quotes and reviewed their website and some reviews. They seemed okay so I went with them. One of the biggest mistakes I have made.
The job was terrible. I spoke Michael, the owner, a day after the job was finished about several areas of this job that were not completed satisfactorily mainly:
the surface texture; I was told they wer coming back to paint over it to give it a smooth look
the gaps still left on the porch
the racoon footprints
the metal rails were not ground down
the debris that was left behind-my yard and driveway was covered with concrete debris (they didn't even tell me they were starting and when I went out my new car was splattered with concrete)
the uneven areas of the porch where water is pooling
the porch landing is cracking up and separating from the surface.
The concrete is also chipping of the steps.
The contract I signed states that all work is fully guaranteed. Michael told me the first week in March that he was coming back at the beginning of April to correct these matters personally. It is now mid-April and despite numerous attempts to reach Michael, I have heard nothing from the company. I have filed a complaint with Consumer Protection Ontario.
This is a unethical company. They knew I was a single mother, working as a front-line health care worker. They should be charged for taking advantage of people during a pandemic.
They have terrible customer service skills all together, I paid to get my shared driveway redone by Good Guys Contracting and even their name is a joke they are complete scammers save yourself the hassle and headache and go with other contractors because my driveway doesn’t even look like anything was even redone there is still cracks all over and worse than before and when we emailed about our experience we got a bogus name and email and ignorant texts from these people
These guys are not trust worthy, they go door to door and offer services but don't deliver, they demand cash payments and refuses to give receipts.
Three weeks ago a guy knocked on my door, he said my neighbor sent him over to me to see about doing our shared driveway together as he had already contracted them Good Guys Contracting to do his side of the driveway.
I was quoted a price of $2,500, I stated that I wasn't interested considering that I had gotten a quote for $1,500 prior, this guy proceeds to lower his price to $2,250, I told him that I would think about it. A week later he returns banging on my door again,I told him that I was definitely not interested, he proceeded to lower his cost to $2,000, I reluctantly agreed because he was stressing on the fact that he would do a very good job and we will be so pleased when he's finished. He offered me a contract on the spot.
Early Monday morning March 29th he and his crew showed up, he demanded payment up front and in cash,me thinking that they come recommended by my neighbor let my guard down, I later found out that my neighbor only knew them from from them knocking on his door too!
I went to the bank withdrew the $2,000 and handed it to Michael. I tried to get him to come into my home to count the cash and give me a receipt but he stated that he didn't need to because "he trusted me",. I made a mental note to myself to get my receipt before they left.
I watched from my window off and on while they worked but I did notice that there wasn't much of working going on but I thought that they are the pros not me. After a long period of time doing nothing they resumed working,I watched them smooth out the front portion of the driveway then turned away from the window to make myself a cup of coffee, to my surprise when I returned to the window they had vanished, I went outside to take a look at the work done, only a quarter of the driveway was completed and the entrance of the driveway was not touched, I tried calling them and only kept getting a voicemail,,I left messages inquiring about the job.
Eventually Michael (the door knocker) answers and asks "who is this"? I identified myself and asked him if the job was done? He said YES! I asked him how can that be when only a part of the driveway was smoothed and the entrance wasn't touched? His response was that "they don't do the entrance to the driveway. These guys between myself and my neighbor collected $4,500 and what we got wasn't even worth $500, what they did I had done last summer for $350, I put a review on their website and Michael called me to tell me that he's giving me 10 minutes to take it down, I asked him "or else what if I don't"?
He tells me that I crazy, he used a burner phone to email me using a bogus name to promise to redo the driveway in June of this year ?? he yelled at my daughter when she called to address the issue, he says " he's busy and we should stop bothering him"! He seems to think his actions are fair that we paid him in full and yet he's promising to come redo the job three months from now, these guys are scammers be aware of them. Would not recommend this company for peanuts.
