We hired Gord's company, GPH Mechanical, as we were a friend of the family. We have child care centres that were in need of new A/C units at 2 of our locations. Despite having our own hvac company that has been fantastic, we gave the work to Gord being a family friend has referred him for the work. He lives in Summerland but assured us he could service the lower mainland as he does work here. Being this referral was through a family member we trusted we were in good hands.
Gord installed 4 units at two of our schools at a cost of $30,000. None of these units worked from day 1. He was hired months before summer started 2 years ago, yet did not complete the job until after summer which was pointless as we had children in an extreme heat wave. Since he installed the units and collected his money, he was impossible to get a hold of once the job was "complete" despite them immediately not working. It took a year to get him to come and fix the non-working units. He ignored our emails, texts and phone calls. He finally showed up one day, "fixed them", then left. We called him immediately to tell him the units were not working still, to which he blamed our staff for not pointing the remote properly. Turns our Gord is dishonest too. Our children spent the next summer without A/C again as he disregarded our calls, emails and texts. Until I threatened him with a law suit (the job cost the child care centre tens of thousands of dollars) he finally months later returned to fix them. Turns out the units had leaks in them since they were installed and had nothing to do with the remote. Let me reiterate he was paid upon installation and took 2 years to get the units working.
After he left, I realized that he had cut a hole in one of our protective cages to access the A/C units that he charged us $3000 for. Gord was too lazy to install them properly in the first place as he told us he "only had one guy so he couldn't properly lift the units" above a height that could be easily vandalized. He upsold the child care centre another $3000 as he had already cut holes in the portable building!! So being the genius that he is, he decided to vandalize our units himself by cutting a hole in them. He then put a thin plastic cover over the hole he cut and used plastic zap straps to secure them rendering them useless. Very unprofessional after charging me for them.
I asked him to come back and fix what they had vandalized to which he replied to take him to court, which is now where we are at costing the child care centre thousands more to compensate his lack of fulling his obligation.
I have also attached a video showing leaks in the hoses that were left outside the protective cages. Birds have pecked through it creating yet another leak. You can see in the photos that one unit was installed to ensure the wires were covered but they were too lazy to do the second properly.
This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. Taking $30,000 from a daycare, installing units that don't work, then disappearing for 2 years is theft. Vandalizing my cages that he charged me for is criminal and now we have a law suit to deal with. This man appears to be professional and and happy to take work and money but will disappear if the job doesn't go smoothly. Judging from the lazy and useless job they do, I do not recommend anyone ever contacts this company for any work.
GBH mechanical provided excellent service for our bathroom Reno. Not only were they a pleasure to work with because they worked fast and efficient they answered any questions or concerns we had and were respectful to our property. I highly recommend Eamon McGovern for Any plumbing projects.
