The whole tiling job Griffin did is an embarrassment. I did not complain until the shower stall floor actually began to deteriorate around the drain. When I contacted them to have it fixed under warranty, they sent a different guy than the original tiler (thank goodness!) but this guy said to fix it properly, the whole stall floor would need to be redone. Unfortunately Griffin only allowed him to do a quick patch job on it instead of fixing it properly so that this wont happen again. All other communication with Griffin to get it fixed properly have been unsuccessful for 3 months now.
We had Griffin come over and install our basement floor. We had the product and they were to install. We were in a time crunch and Roger shuffled his schedule around to make it work for us. He and Steph did an amazing job. They are efficient, professional and friendly. They offered great advice and we will definitely use them again. If u want a job done right, hire Griffin. Our floors look amazing and we are super hPpy with the end result.
We hired Griffin Contracting for a complete overhaul of a fixer-upper home that we recently purchased. It was a massive and daunting task that involves gutting almost the entire house. This 2-month job includes remodelling three bathrooms, redoing all of the carpet and install new hardwood flooring, building a new deck, remodelling a 50 year-old backyard shed, replacing all doors and more. Not only did they delivered on time and on budget, Roger and his team were able to do a little extra here and there to keep us happy.
From the initial quote to the very last day of the project, everything was communicated and coordinated flawlessly, and executed with top-notch workmanship and attention to detail. We were extremely impressed by the amount of thoughts that was put into the project - from the choice of bathroom vanity, carpet color, to picking the perfect clawfoot bathtub for our main bathroom. Not to mention the custom made and painted solid wood doors for our shed which our neighbours cannot stop raving about!
We are a very satisfied and happy client and will not hesitate to recommend Griffin Contracting to anyone. Thank you Griffin for turning our dream into reality!
I would like to thank Roger and Steve for their keen instinct and care installing an extra mirror behind a light to finish a look my husband had in his mind. This and several other extras were done graciously. One can only say thank you and we know your business can only succeed.
Our 1980's kitchen has been beautifully renovated into a stunning modern one which has made our friends gasp with pleasure. Both Roger and Hayley were in tune to our ideas and to our budget and both my husband and myself felt a sense of their personal care and professionalism throughout the project.
We have already recommended Griffin Contracting to everyone that we talk with and look forward to projects in the foreseeable future.
We had Griffin Contractng renovate our older condo and to say that we are happy with the work done is an understatement. All the workers and staff were "very professional". They changed a unit that was suffering from that "70's" look and changed it into a modern style that we are very proud of, especially getting rid of all that dated wallpaper. A very professional company that we highly recommend.
After a flood, we had our Condo Flooring (laminate) replaced by Griffin Flooring. Initially the floor looked fine, but within a month the floor boards started to slide. I have made literally dozens of call to Stepanie, leaving messages which she seldom returned. She seemed to have little or no respect for her customer and their concerns in her product.
After repeated calls and messages, she did arrange for a flooring contractor to come in to fix the floor. The flooring contractor was courteous and pleasant and tried to fix the floor by gluing the boards together. Unfortunately this did not work as new boards continued to separate. After many, many calls I was able to get her to bring in a flooring specialist to further inspect the floor. After the inspection was completed, Stepanie promised to call me back right away with the findings and hopefully a real solution.
It has literally been months and I am still trying to get hold of Griffin flooring and Stephane to find out what the inspection revealed and hopefully have this resolved.
I would strongly, and I do mean strongly, advise to not even think of using Griffin flooring for any type of services.
I am completely dismayed and disappointed in Stephanie’s unwillingness to respond in a timely manner to her customers concerns. It has been over a year trying to get this matter resolved with Griffin Flooring and I am no further ahead today than I was when I made the first of many complaints.
In and around October 11th, 2014, we completed the installation of a new laminate floor in Mr. Farah's Unit. This was part of a Restoration claim that was a result of water damage to his Unit and several others in the Building. Please note, of the 4 Units that we replaced flooring in, utilizing the exact same Installer and material, only Mr. Farah has had a complaint.
On February 25th, 2015 we received a phone call from Frank stating that there were gaps in between some of the laminate boards.
On February 26th, 2015 the original flooring installer attended the site and fixed some of the gaping issues. At the time, the Installer reported back to us while onsite that the the humidity levels felt excessively high in the Unit, and there were signs of recent water damage to the newly installed flooring. It appeared that the Tenants in the Unit were not utilizing the fan in the bathroom after showers, to allow the excessive humidity to be properly vented from the Unit.
In early October of 2015, Mr. Farah raises concerns with the floor again in terms of gaping. At this time, it is reiterated with him the same points that were brought up by the Installer in February. That the humidity in the Unit is too high and there is evidence of water damage on the new floor. Mr. Farah refutes these findings in an email on October 17th and a site meeting is set up shortly thereafter.
On October 23, 2015, a site meeting occurs. In attendance is Mr. Farah, his Wife, one of the Tenants, Stephanie (from our Office), and a Building Specialist who has a hygrometer to measure the relative humidity. In this meeting the following is discussed or reiterated:
- that the gaping is not an installation issue, as this type of issue would have presented itself shortly after the install, not months later.
- that it is most likely not a manufacturer issue, but we would contact the manufacturer and see if they would provide coverage for this issue.
- that based on the hygrometer readings utilized by the Building Specialist in this meeting, the relative humidity in the Unit was above acceptable levels (69.7%) for the required health of the floor.
- that water damage was evident on the floor, this may have been due in part to the Tenant's improper cleaning of the floor. During the site meeting, Stephanie with all present, requested the tenant to demonstrate how they clean their floors - The tenant wet a towel in the bathroom sink and proceeded to wash part of the floor. Stephanie advised all present that this was an improper method and would actually void their warranty - she suggested locally available manufacturer accepted cleaners.
The end result of the meeting was that we would contact the Manufacturer and see if they would allow a consumer claim under the fact that the material maybe faulty.
October 27th, 2015 we email the manufacturer with the particulars of the Project, and request their opinion on the matter and if it could be material related.
November 2nd, 2015 - we email the manufacturer as a follow up and also Mr. Farah to let him know that we have contacted the Manufacturer and can only wait for them to let us know there response.
To date, we have received verbal confirmation from the Manufacturer stating that given the improper care for the flooring by the Tenants and the presence of higher than acceptable levels of humidity, they would not entertain a claim that the material is in question. We are still however, waiting for written confirmation from the Manufacturer, which we would then send to Mr. Farah.
It should be noted that we have followed up with the Manufacturer on several occasions, but are still awaiting a written response from them.
Given the above, we do not see how Mr. Farah's review is legitimate, given there is no issue with our workmanship or material provided.
