Sean and Bill did an amazing job on my front entrance. Converting a 100 year old house from old to bold, while keeping some of the original charm and character. I was very happy with the results and they stayed right on schedule, kept on budget and true to their promises. I would recommend them to any of my friends.
Thank you for the kind words April. It was our pleasure to help you.
Thanks again for the opportunity.
Kind regards,
Sean
Sean went through the house at the same time as the insurance adjuster and ensured that all damages and needed repairs were brought to the attention of the adjuster. His estimates were all accepted by the insurance company...we had no hassles whatsoever thanks to Sean. If there was additional work that needed to be done as repairs were ongoing, he submitted the claims, and once again, everything went so smoothly. The work itself was of high quality. The removal of popcorn ceiling was surprisingly tidy and the end result is beautiful. The quality of the hardwood flooring installation was to notch. The tile work in the 2 bathrooms was beautiful...much better than the original. Sean and his team were happy to do plumbing and drywall upgrades/additions when requested, and their rates were very reasonable. The quality of the work was exceptional. Detail work like trim and mouldings was also very well don--beautiful. The guys were extremely friendly, and did a fantastic job cleaning up each and every day they were on site. This was the second job we have called in HammerDown, and we will continue to use his services in the future. I strongly recommend Sean. He does great work, and is very proficient at dealing with insurance companies on his client's behalf.
Thanks for the kind words Randy it was our pleasure. Glad you and Monica are happy with the repairs.
Cheers
In November, I decided to use Troy Hull Home to do some renovations in my basement as I was impressed with all the positive online reviews. I noticed that the company went through a recent ownership change. The job itself was minor in nature, simply framing and dry-walling a nine foot wall (create bedroom/Office), repairing existing drywall, and repainting the entire basement, which included ceilings, trim, and walls.
I met with Sean, the company owner, and we went over the project details and subsequent expectations. The location where the wall was to be built had laminate flooring installed, which I later found out by a flooring contractor was called a "floating floor". Sean indicated that they would install the wall on top of the laminate floor.
The noted wall was installed on a Monday. On Tuesday, the painting began while waiting for the layers of plaster on the wall to dry. The house was getting a bit dusty from the sanding of the drywall but everything was coming along pretty good. On Wednesday when I arrived from work, the painting looked great, exceeding my high expectations. The painter used painters tape to assist with the edges and it looked excellent.
By the end of the workday on Thursday, things started to spiral downward. With the constant sanding over the last 4 days, and with no protective barrier installed, the house was starting to become engulfed in dust. Furniture on the main level and second floor were all covered in dust. I also started to have concerns about the painting as roller marks could be seen on the ceiling. The contractor painted the ceiling after completing the walls and trim. The painter also stopped using painters tape so the edge work was becoming messy. Knowing I had high expectations and concerned that I was being overly critical, I decided to wait for the finished product.
On Friday, I realized that the work was starting to drag on as the sanding of the wall and painting of the basement was still ongoing. To speed things up, I spent the weekend painting the bathroom and a couple walls where minor drywall repair had been done. Monday afternoon, the sanding of the wall and painting was still uncompleted so I decided to contact Sean and go over my concerns. Sean was great on the phone and promised that everything would be completed to my satisfaction. Sean attended site on Wednesday and personally completed the work himself. I was impressed with this level of customer service. Despite Sean's best efforts, however, the ceiling was still poorly painted as roller marks were very visible in natural light. I expected much more from a painting contractor in terms of quality of work. (photos attached). Sean did not keep up to his promise and I definitely wasn't satisfied at the end result.
That same afternoon, I had a flooring contractor look at the space in order to obtain a quote to install new flooring. The contractor advised me that the wall should have never been installed over a "floating floor" as it would give me problems as the floor needs to expand during hot weather and contract during cooler periods. He explained that the floor would buckle if not allowed to move. A quick google search and it became clear that the wall should have never been installed over the floor, especially when it would have taken 10 seconds to slide out the laminate flooring as the planks were not nailed/screwed in. I contacted Sean about my findings and to my surprise he did not take ownership of the problem, suggesting that the floor had enough room to move throughout the room. He offered me a solution of cutting the flooring around the wall. After I indicated that I didn't have the proper saw, he offered to send his wife and drop off a saw for me to use. Sean explained that he could not personally attend as he had suffered an injury. I'm not sure why someone else couldn't have done the work. I declined his offer and went to Canadian Tire and bought myself a saw for $100 and cut out a once inch gap around the wall.
Last week I started noticing cracks in the dry-wall near the ceiling. I now have to hire another contractor to repair the cracks. If I had to do it all over again, I would have definitely picked a different contractor.
Only time will tell if I encounter additional problems and cost as a result of the poor quality of work.
Hi George thank you very much for your review.
We are always striving to improve our service and quality
As per our on-site meeting, I was also not impressed with the workmanship carried out by our staff member
That quality of workmanship was not up to our standard and that staff member has since been terminated of any further employment with our company.
Thank you for noting that I personally attended communicated well and was personally responsible for ensuring the work was completed to your satisfaction.
I think you would agree that we even took it one step further by initiating further drywall repairs in the area that we re not part of our scope going further than necessary in order to ensure your satisfaction with the end result.
I would ve happily come back myself to cut laminate floor for you although I was unavailable with a blood clot in the hospital.
I cannot substantiate the drywall issues you were having at the moment as I have not been contacted to investigate or given the opportunity to repair at no cost should deficiencies be ours.
I would gladly repair any deficiencies that are related to our workmanship at no charge if given the opportunity.
Thank you again for your review my apologies your experience was not up to your satisfaction.
I posted a ceiling repair job and Trusted Pros and Sean from Troy Hull Home was the first to respond. We had 2 large holes in our popcorn ceiling from where 2 pot light boxes had been removed. Bill came to our home yesterday and did a fantastic job with the repair. He prepped the area well, kept the mess contained and cleaned up as soon as he was done. The ceiling looks amazing and the work was done under budget.
Thank you so much!
Troy Hull did an amazing job completing the upgrade to my Ensuite bathroom. From start to finish Sean and the team not only built what I had in mind but they guided the design based on experience and industry trends. The team was extremely detailed and efficient while being very friendly and helpful. The bathroom came out amazing and I was so impressed with their work I immediately asked them to complete my basement.
The basement was a standard unfinished new home basement, furnace and water tank were in the middle. Just like the bathroom upgrade, the team was incredible. In addition Sean brought in other professionals to deal with certain items such as the furnace/tank move, carpet and plumbing. Each one of them were just as great as the rest of the team. Working fast but cutting no corners while being very courteous and helpful.
Between both projects Sean kept me up to date on every detail and when to expect someone at the house. The budget and completion time was on target but also flexible as they were being completed which helps greatly in making any changes. All the while the guys would put their two cents in which 99% of the time made total sense and saved me from any future issues!
I work in customer service and this team excelled in it. I have already recommended them to others and will continue to do so in the future. I will be seeking their help again with any future projects. Give Sean a shout if you have any work to be done you won't be disappointed!
Tory Hull Home exceeded my expectations on replacing my front porch railings and the exterior painting looks fantastic. The price for the work was affordable, the project was executed by skilled tradesmen who kept the job site clean and were friendly. I definitely recommend Tory Hull Home and will be keeping them on speed dial for future projects.
I hired Troy hull to replace my front porch pillars.
They got the exact stone colour I wanted. They completed the job in the time frame they originally quoted. They also came in at the exact price they quoted. 3 out of 3.
They were available for any and all questions I had. They were neat and clean in their work.
I have had neighbors comment when walking by at what a great up grade and how it beautified my home.
Troy hull are very professional and I highly recommend them.
Thanks Troy Hull.
We are so happy with the services of Troy Hull Home Improvements. They completed the job before the estimated date. They did everything we asked. Prices were fair and they earned every penny. Kind regards,

The boys at Troy Hull Home did a great job. Time was spent during a well thought-out walk through, discussing exactly what we were looking for. The crew were courteous and professional and left our house in tip-top shape at the end of every day. The work was finished on time with exactly the results we were looking for. Folks coming over have even commented on what a nice job was done, and our neighbour expressed interest in using Troy as well for her house.
Would we use again? Without hesitation!
