Very pleased with pleasant, informed employees. From the moment I entered showroom, Heather greeted me with kindness, showed me available products, answered all my questions, provided me with brochures to review at home and set up an appointment for a sales rep to come to my home. Jim was friendly and accommodating. He reviewed my choices, answered additional questions and promptly sent quote with a follow up call to ensure I had received information. Scott came to do final measurements. He was also friendly and efficient. Daisy, from scheduling department kindly provided reminder calls for appointments and updated me promptly of any delays. Interactions to date have been exceptional!
Right from the beginning to the end process we could not be happier with Heritage Renovations. We had Jay to our house to explain how the process works & answered all our questions making us feel totally comfortable & gave us an honest time line when our new front door would be installed. The install crew came & did a fantastic job & clean up was spotless! We are so excited to get our new windows next week which were an awesome price!!
Thank you Heritage Renovations
Heritage Renovations are trusted pros. I recently had four new North Star windows installed in my home. I was very impressed with Marco and Shannon who helped me from their head office and the installers who were just great. The install team was very professional. I had other quotes from stores around London and Heritage Renovations was by far the best price. I was so impressed with their service and instal process, I am having them back to replace four more windows in my home this summer.
BEWARE THIS COMPANY. They might get good reviews but I will tell you right now that if you have a bad installation, Heritage will not own up to it. Our problems started with the installation of a front door which was in October, 2021. Looked great except we noticed shortly after that the door wouldn't open all the way - the sweep rubbed against our hardwood floors - which are our original floors, installed when the house was built. I addressed this with them and they came out to look at it. The contractor they sent took one look at the problem and told me the sweep is too low and needed to be raised. He did that, but then when the weather got cold, there was a draft. When I called them about this, they told me that was my fault because I had insisted on having them raise the sweep, even though they had - supposedly - cautioned me against doing that. Ummm, what?? What are you talking about?? Then they went on to say that my "new flooring" was the problem, and I should call that contractor and get him to fix it. Again… these are ORIGINAL floors (photos attached to prove). Complaints on other websites have resulted in them telling further falsehoods, including the most recent - that I actually ADMITTED that I had had work done on my floors. Unbelievable. I have consulted a well-respected contractor here in London who told me the door was obviously put in too low and the proper measurements and assessments were not done up front. My floor might slant a little but this was a previously existing issue that Heritage did not account for. My old door opened just fine with no draft, after all. Measurements and assessments were obviously not done properly up front and this door was put in too low and has never worked properly. At this point, the sweep at the bottom of the door has been taken off and put back on too many times (at their recommendation, always!) and is now warped. Because they say that is somehow my fault, they won't replace it. They imply that I bullied their contractors into doing what they recommended against - which plain and simple, never happened. The fixes were always the recommendations of the contractors, never something I even suggested, let alone insisted on. These people have ZERO integrity. One photo is current, taken today. The other photo is from the 2009 listing when we purchased the house. As you can see, the flooring is identical. No changes have been made.
UPDATE since their rebuttal: Heritage may want to think that this is a new floor, or a re-done floor that I had completed somehow in between their measurements and their installation of the door (really??) but it is not true, as the photos prove. This is the same floor the people had who lived in the house previously had. Exactly. But they are sticking to that falsehood because to admit otherwise would be to admit that they did a bad assessment & incorrect measurement.
The installation of the customers door was proper and true from day one. After installation the customer indicated that the rubber sweep at the base of the door slab was rubbing along their floor when the door was fully opened, so we returned to address those concerns at no charge. At that visit it was determined and explained to the customer that when they had your new flooring installed (customer admitted they had work done) their floor was not leveled, and that further back from the door the flooring was actually higher up than near the door by a significant and uncommon amount. This was not a problem with the door or door installation, but with their flooring and improper installation thereof.
Regardless, we still did not charge the customer for a service attendance, and advised if they wanted higher clearance, the flooring should be fixed by the contractor or person who installed it. We installed our product properly, not out of level and out of alignment to accommodate something in the home that is not installed correctly (the customers flooring). We advised the customer that if they wanted the door adjusted, they would only be able to raise the sweep which was not best for the door as that is what creates the seal to the sill. The customer requested we raise the sweep regardless of this warning, to which we complied and did so at their request. We made it clear this was not recommended, but we ultimately respected the customer s request and did as they demanded.
The customer then called in reported a draft under the door, as the sweep was raised, and less firm contact was being made from the sweep to the sill (this was explained to the customer when they told us to raise it). We again came out at no charge to adjust the sweep again to the customers liking. The sweep now shows signs of some warping due to it being up too high and not in the proper position. We explained to the customers that this is not covered under manufacturer warranty as it is a wearable part, and because they had requested it to be improperly installed which caused unnecessary damage. As such we would have to buy a new replacement sweep from the manufacturer if the customer desired one, and that it would be a chargeable service for us to order the new sweep and install it for the customer.
We did as the customer requested and demanded, advising them that it was not the best and not the proper solution, as well as the impacts and consequences of their decision. The customer is now experiencing those impacts and consequences of their decision, and while understandably upset, it is completely improper for them to accuse or blame us. We clearly explained everything to the customer from the beginning, and from each attendance, ahead of the customer making and demanding action that cause this to occur. I apologize that the customer is left unsatisfied with the result, and that we were unable to get them a new sweep installed for free after the existing one is no longer in perfect condition after the improper adjustments the customer demanded.
Our staff has worked with the customer thru every step of the process and communicated with you at great lengths to be clear and transparent. We wish you the best in your home renovations.
Over the passed year or so we have had Heritage replace most of our windows and doors. It was during the pandemic and of course a major worry at letting folks in our house. However the installers were so thoughtful and considerate and the installations went smoothly. Last winter we were house bound and the new windows and doors made a huge difference in the temperature of the house. We are currently awaiting the arrival of one more door. Thank you Haritage!
We have used Heritage Renovations twice in the past (doors and windows) and are using them again for our next window replacement project. The workmanship and quality are unmatched. We highly recommend Heritage Renovations!
We needed 6 windows replaced during the pandemic and heritage had lower prices than 5 other competitors I had received quotes for. The service was outstanding and we felt like we always knew what was happening through the entire process. The team are wonderful and great to work with. We couldn’t be more happy with the windows. They are gorgeous and I highly recommend heritage!
We wanted to build a sunroom but were concerned that the cost of the number of windows needed would make it out of reach. However, dealing with Heritage Windows who used North Star products made it possible to do this within our budget. The vinyl, double hung windows let in plenty of light and are easy to care for. The 10 windows arrived on time and were installed without problems. They have never leaked and we remain very satisfied with their performance.
Since then, we replaced our 3 panel casement kitchen window with Heritage. This time we were advised to use an awning window. It has been a great choice because it lets in far more light and improves ventilation. The opening and locking mechanisms are easy to use. The quality of all the windows is just excellent.
This is a follow up job from last year the installers are professional and on time they took away all rubbish including our old blinds made sure we were satisfied before they left job site. They came back next day to make sure the caulking around windows was well sealed.
In the past we have had Heritage Renovations replace our front door. The door is beautiful. Years later we still get compliments and questions asking from where we purchased it from. The excellent product, quality of workmanship and great customer service now have us returning to Heritage for new windows for our home. We are confident the windows will be done exceptionally well also. We would recommend Heritage Renovations.
We have used Heritage renovations to replace all of our windows and the front door, in the last 5 years. The products were excellent, the quality of workmanship and customer experience were exceptional. We are about to have our patio door replaced and feel confident this will be done exceptionally well. We would highly recommend Heritage to others for consideration!
Jim came to our house to do the quote. We liked how he was straight forward and didn’t give a big sales pitch. He was knowledgeable about the product and answered all our questions. We went with Heritage for the product, price and warranty. We also liked that there is a show room to go to and see the full line of windows.
Barb and Maurice
Very knowledgable staff who have gone above and beyond at all points of the process from quote to install. We are very happy with the quality of the products they install and the workmanship. We have used Heritage Renovations on multiple occasions and will continue to use them and recommend them in the future.
I had two windows replaced earlier this month. Jim was very professional and helpful when deciding on the exterior colour. I am now working with Jim and Shannon on having more windows replaced this summer. I am very happy with my new windows!!
We’ve had Heritage Renovations replace multiple windows and doors and we are currently working with them to replace more. They have an impressive showroom and carry reputable manufacturers which provides a variety of styles and finishes to work with. The communication throughout the entire process has been exceptional, from the initial consultation to installation. We highly recommend Heritage Renovations for your window and door needs.
I found the salesmen Jay to be very knowledgeable and helpful when making a decision about a new front door and side light.
When visiting our home during Covid pandemic he wore appropriate safety equipment which was appreciated.
Subsequently we visited the Heritage showroom and met with Shannon.
I was impressed with her professionalism and her ideas in helping me make my decision on my new front door.
I would highly recommend this company based on my experience with them.
6 windows replaced last my old house. Very helpful on picking styles and staff are very friendly! Noticed a huge difference once new windows were installed! We have recently moved and have them coming to replace some windows and patio door. I highly recommend Heritage Renovations!!
I had Heritage Renovations install my new front door. I absolutely love it and get so many compliments.
The installers were vey professional and did the job in a timely matter.
I would highly recommend Heritage Renovations.
We had 3 windows replaced last year by Heritage and were very happy with the quality product and installation. We are having more windows replaced this year. Our new windows have given our home a fresh, clean look. We highly recommend Heritage.
We have used Heritage Renovations for many years to replace all our front and back windows, three exterior doors, and the house shutters. Their service is excellent. Staff are pleasant and communicative, prices are competitive, and workmanship is very good. We would definitely recommend Heritage for any house renovations.
We had 4 patio doors installed. We really like the contemporary look of the doors. The installation team was professional and hardworking the entire time. Heritage Renovations communicated in a timely manner with all of our concerns. We will certainly recommend them and will consider using them again if we replace our front door.
Never knew how much of a difference a new front door could make to your home! Shannon and everyone who we dealt with Heritage were awesome right from picking colours/styles all the way to installation and clean up. The staff went out of their way to please and ensure we were totally happy. The door looks amazing and we have recommended Heritage to many of our neighbors when they comment on it.
Heritage Renovations did a great job with replacing the upstairs windows in my house. They were very professional in all aspects of their work. I would hire them for future renovations.
Heritage Renovations replaced 6 windows and 2 exterior doors for me. From the initial consultation to the final installation, everything was amazing. Staff were courteous, professional and completely transparent - especially about potential delays due to COVID. I would recommend them over and over again.
Last spring we had Heritage Renovation replace our front door and lower garden door. We have enjoyed these upgrades so much. Heritage Renovation team are professional and we are very pleased with the quality of workmanship. There was no clean up after the installation, it was done to perfection. This spring we are looking forward to Heritage Renovation replacing another garden door and window. We would definitely recommend Heritage Renovation.
The Heritage term were professional and the workmanship was top quality. We are very pleased with the work and would definitely recommend them.
Very friendly and helpful in reviewing options for our new front door. We chose a full length glass door with side window panels that look absolutely awesome. Install was quick with attention to detail and quality.
Very professional. Chose Heritage Renovations based off a friend's recommendation and they did not disappoint. Very good quality service and helping address every problem that needed attention. All while coming in a price point that made the project a success. Well definitely be a repeat customer in the future.
Heritage Renovations has replaced almost all of the windows and doors in our house. We have been extremely happy with the entire process from the initial quote to the installation. They also are very responsive if adjustments need to be made after installation. We highly recommend Heritage Renovations and they will be who we call when we are ready to replace more windows.
Over the last five years, we have had Heritage Renovations replace all of the windows and doors in an older home we purchased. We did it in four tranches and kept coming back to them because we like the product they sell and the quality of their work. We believe they represent good value for money and have always been courteous and professional.
My new bow window installation was done quickly and very professionally. Your team was polite and a joy to be around and my husband and I are very satisfied with the quality window and the excellent and timely customer service.
The work we had done was performed in the winter. We experienced no discomfort while the work was performed. The work was completed efficiently and quickly, the first time.
All employees we dealt with (from the office to the installers) were polite, professional and knowledgeable.
The product is top notch. Financing is very easy and painless.
Heritage Renovations are always my choice when it comes to my windows. They have a professional, customer service oriented staff who take the time to listen and explain. Amazing company that I recommend without reserve.
My wife and I bought a new house and the back door was in rough shape. We shopped around and found Heritage Renovations to be the best price and good reviews. They installed our back door and a storm door and it looks fantastic. Aaron our sales person was very helpful and responsive to all our questions before, during and after install. I would recommend them to friends and family.
Excellent service and quality! From sales to install everything went smoothly. Jay, from Sales, was knowledgeable and honest - which is rare in this competitive market. I'd highly recommend Heritage Renovations!! Windows are awesome and are great quality.
I liked Heritage's policy of taking window measurements twice, the first by the sales rep and the second by the service rep to ensure proper measurements are sent to the window manufacturer.
Heritage offers a number of great window manufacturers and we have had installed North Star windows (one used by Heritage) in are whole house over the years with not one problem.
We have two remainging windows for replacement and again Heritage will be installing North Star windows. Due to Covid-19 the delay by window manufacturers certainly has caused delays in getting the product out, but Heritage works hard with the manufacturers to get their clients windows as quickly as possible.
We have had many quotes from installers who use North Star windows, however we have found Heritage Renovations to be fair in price, quality of work is excellent and they seemed to be more professional. So looking forward to our next windows from Heritage.
Everyone either on the phone or in person was polite, professional and knowledgeable. Not only did our sales specialist Andrew Wilkie help us with an estimate and information on what was required to fix our damaged 3 panel front window he also took the time to give us multiple options. He really listened to our design likes and dislikes. The next step was to have an in house expert come out to double check his measurements. Service and Accuracy! Wow! The deposit we paid was also reasonable. Due to the pandemic lockdown we are both (Heritage Renovations and ourselves) waiting for the next work stage to begin. I have been assured that it will only take one day!
I was very pleased with the friendly service and timely manner they provided. I had a dead line with a closing date for my home and they made everything go smoothly and I am very pleased with their service. I will definitely return for future projects for my home.
My wife and I hired Heritage a few years ago on 2 separate occasions as we were replacing all of our windows in stages over 2 years (2017 and 2018).
The 1st time, we had an older installer along with an apprentice who replaced 3 windows (2 of which were original to the home). The 2nd time, we had a father son duo who replaced 6 more windows which included a bow window. Both times we had positive experiences. The installers were punctual, friendly, knowledgeable, and kept us up to date on what was going on. Big kudos to the father son team who let us know that if we waited on replacing the old bow window, the location where the window was at, would've collapsed to the front yard due to the poor installation work that was discovered. Overall, 3 and 4 years later respectively, the craftsmanship and quality of the windows are top notch as the windows still look fantastic. Would definitely recommend Heritage.
The 2 gentlemen from Heritage Windows/Renos did an excellent job of removing our old door & reinstalling the new one then cleaning up afterwards. The fit was perfect & the trim colours were as shown on the brochure. After they left, I realized that the one interior glass panes had some sort of sticky, varnish-like stains on it & unfortunately I was unable to remove them with Windex or vinegar etc. After calling Heritage, they sent someone back to look at the stains & he was able to successfully remove everything. The door now looks perfect! (And I will never underestimate the power of WD40, Goo Buster & a lot of elbow grease!)
We were extremely pleased with the professionalism of every employee we dealt with from the sales rep, to the office personnel to the gentlemen who installed our doors. They doors look fantastic and we are thrilled with the quality of the product. The front door was tricky to install and took some effort to get it level. The installers worked until the doors were level and Installed properly. We would highly recommend Heritage Renovations.
From beginning to end our experience with Heritage Renovations was amazing.
The installers ran into some issues when they removed the old slider but they troubleshot the issues and came up with solutions.
They showed us the issues they ran into and made sure that we were happy with the
solutions they came to BEFORE they continued the work. Amazing service.
We are SO happy we went with Heritage Renovations.
Our bay window will be next.
P.S. - Picture is taken during construction.
Need a bathroom window replaced because the bathroom window wouldn't lock. So instead of a repair, we went with a whole new one.
The window that was installed was Vinyl window regency, double slider. Regular - Tilt & Turn.
Two installers showed up in the morning per the set time and completed the installation within two hours.. They were friendly and professional. Cleaned up all the scrap and asked if I wanted the old window or not. They also explained what they were doing and had me test out the window to see if it was to my liking. I would use the company again.
From sales to installation, our experience with Heritage was fabulous. The windows arrived within the time stated. The trim, hardware and stone ledge were exactly what we ordered. Installer arrived on time, were very professional and very skilled as our home was built in 1960 and had a few character flaws and they cleaned up completely. The workmanship exceeded our expectations and I would absolutely recommend Heritage Renovation.
The crew arrived on time and had my new front door installed in 2 hrs. They were very courteous and answered all questions. The cleanup was great. We are very pleased with the work and would highly recommend Heritage Renovations.
We have completely enjoyed all of the work done by Heritage. We started with a patio door and main floor windows. The work, product and service were all excellent. We had our front door replaced. Again, great work and compliments from the neighbours on its appearance. Next, we had windows on the second floor replaced. Yet again, great job. We just have one set of windows to replace and we will definitely call Heritage Renovations when we are ready.
Recently, Greg Spiering helped me arrange a window screen replacement and he was most helpful getting it and showing me how to install it properly. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, the products and work excellent.
We are extremely happy with the installations of all windows in our 2 story house performed by Heritage Renovations.A special thanks to Shannon Ruffell and her entire team. The installers - Jason and Dave were absolutely great. They were courteous, very knowledgeable, neat and tidy.
Our overall score of Heritage Renovations is without question a 5 star rating.
Strongly recommended !
Our new steel door arrived much sooner than expected, considering all the shutdowns because of the virus. The crew was very professional, friendly and polite, arriving when expected. Communications throughout this whole process from order placement to installation was excellent! Thanks again Heritage for the great service! This is the second time we’ve used Heritage Renovations, that tells you something.
We were pleased with quality of windows installed. We previously had 5 Northstar windows installed by Heritage 5 years ago. The windows are energy efficient & of good quality. The windows are easy to use & person who provided quote suggested an inside vinyl extension for kitchen window that is good feature as window is above sink. The installation crew was respectful of our home, made efficient use of their time & completed quality installation. They provided us with a short review of how to clean windows with features of window.
Our experience with Heritage Renovations was nothing but positive and we are thrilled with our new front doors. At our initial visit with the estimator, I was very impressed with his experience and knowledge of the various products being offered. He also asked a lot of detailed questions, which were never asked by the other two companies we obtained quotes from. I was even more impressed with their follow up and lack of pushy sales tactics when we decided to put off the purchase for 6 months. Once we decided to proceed, again, the follow up and attention to detail was very much appreciated, particularly when one part did not come as ordered and the installer came back quickly to make sure everything was replaced and complete. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Heritage Renovations to anyone!
The installation crew was courteous, friendly and explained every part of the process. They were fast and efficient and I was extremely pleased with the result. My only suggestion would be that they provide both a morning and an afternoon installation time to make scheduling easier. I had also had 3 larger windows replaced in the past and was happy with the results at that time as well.
Installation was set up for today Feb 10/20 at 9:00AM. Scott the installer came on time and proceeded to install the new door and lock in a timely fashion. I was very pleased with his skills and we got along very well. The completed job looks great. I would recommend Heritage Renovations to my friends.
Had a wonderful experience from beginning to end with quotes on windows and how long it would take, they gave us a few options which was nice and total cost with a discount which is always nice!!! I would highly recommend Heritage windows they did beautiful job installing and they are high quality windows with a great warranty.
Excellent job done by Heritage when we had a large living room window installed in winter. The crew was very quick considering how cold it was outside and the cold was rushing in when they removed the old window. I love the new style they recommended with the crank out windows on the sides. They completed trim inside and even vinyl coated the oversize frame outside so no more painting wood every summer. Very tidy work and they even vacuumed the living room before they left to get rid of debris. Looking forward to having more windows done with Heritage.
Heritage Renovations replaced all the windows on my main floor and replaced the patio sliding door. All work was done in one day! No problems, The work was professionally and neatly done. I'm having them do my basement windows now.
Thank you very much for your technician-Scott , service.
Scott was very thorough and patient explaining our windows problems.
Very professional knowledgeable and honest person !
Our windows are much better today after his repairs.
Thank you so much again !!
Everyone we worked with was very knowledgeable, from sales to installation. Installation was completed on time. There was a slight delay in getting the windows installed, but I'm confident the delay (mere days) was better than the industry average.
Would highly recommend to anyone interested in replacing their windows and doors.
We recently had Heritage install 5 windows in total into our home. 2 of these windows were new openings. From beginning to end, our experience was top notch. The sales man, the office staff and the installers were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The install team was tidy and arrived on time, completing the work in 1 day. Heritage explained all products available, the time line and the warranty. I would highly recommend Heritage to anyone.
The company was taken over from it’s original founders Steve Baker and Gabe Valente, in 2015, by Steve’s two children James and Shannon. It’s not the same as it once was with costumer service and quality of workmanship.
Over priced, very unprofessional and extremely difficult to communicate with working out mistakes and imperfections made by their installers.
It started out with, 1 installer showing up instead of 2. Now the job becomes a 2 day project. Lost wages for me having to take another day off work to let the installers in.
The 2 entry doors brought to be installed come damaged. Obviously, I was all over the installer about it, his comment, it happens all time, Heritage does not inspect the doors before sending them out. I was told by James Baker, the doors are covered under warranty but will take 8 weeks to be replaced. The doors should never have been installed damaged. My bad on this for not allowing.
James, demanded I pay for the work order that was to completed, before his installers left day 2, I agreed, obviously upset and not knowing my legal rights I paid.
Workmanship and attention to detail by Heritage installers, one thing after another that needed to be repaired or overlooked. I found out that the installers are contracted by Heritage, this is done so if there is an issue or your not happy Heritage try’s their best to avoid responsibility. They work in pairs some good some bad, no idea on what experience they have. The evidence left at my house speaks for the pair they sent.
I had the workers come back and try and fix the door they installed that would not close properly. it was fixed but then a huge gap at the bottom was created, causing a wind draft coming into the house. Before the worker left that day he was nice enough to leave a big pile of saw dust on my side walk, caulking lids and door material.
Their communication to make this negative to a positive is non existent. I had words that turned into a yelling match with James Baker over all my inconveniences and frustration with Heritage. They got their money as what the contract said. I’m left with 2 damaged doors, window latch not fixed, a door that isn’t installed properly for a wind draft to enter and his installer leaving wasted door material and sawdust all over my front steps and lawn.
London Police needed to be called and now I need to pay for a lawyer and take Heritage to small claims court.
All my wife and I, wanted was new doors and repaired window. We choose Heritage, because a friend and family member recommended them to us. Imagine how they feel? Don’t make the same mistake people. If it happened me and my wife, it can just as easily happen to you. Don’t be fooled by the consumer choice award, this is a company that’s trying to grow big to fast and has forgotten about all the little things that will get it there just not overnight. 1990, is when it first started business, Steve’s son and daughter will have it bankrupt within 10 years if they continue this route.
Shop around and do yourself a favour, with not having the inconveniences, frustration, disappointment and stress.
My pictures posted are evidence of the contracted job with Heritage Window and Doors. My review is 100% accurate. I will leave this review up until I’m told to take it down by my lawyer. I challenge Heritage to seek legal assistance and start a defamation claim, if they feel differently or have supporting evidence that it is not truthful. I will gladly resolve this in small claims court if asked.
Thank you for reading.
At Heritage Renovations we strive to provide the best end to end experience for every customer, which is one of the reasons we have won the Consumer Choice Award every year. We perform thousands of installations per year and rarely there are minor issues that we correct immediately for our customers and are treated with the highest priority by our company.
Your review is untruthful.
On the day of your installation one installer was ill. Rather than postponing the entire installation the morning it was scheduled to begin we chose to send one installer. It was our hope that we would be able to remain on track with the timeline but we ran slightly over and returned the following morning and were finished by 10 am. We did this with your best interests in mind since you had already taken the day off work.
Your door slabs had a small dent from the manufacturer which is covered 100% under warranty. We were able to continue with the door system installation and these are currently properly installed and fully operational at your home. The slab is a separate component that is easily changed out when the new component arrives under warranty. We are an installation company and do not manufacturer the product. We keep everything wrapped until installation to ensure it is protected. We have less than 1% instances of damaged product and we apologize that this occurred in your case. We empathize with this inconvenience and ordered your replacement door slabs immediately as a rush.
We like to leave each home as clean as when we arrived and there was approximately one handful of saw dust left on your property. This is a renovation where we are performing construction work on your home and sometimes there are remnants of saw dust remaining even though the bulk is cleaned up.
We pride ourselves on having the best installers in the business and our installers have between 15-30 years experience. Our installers install windows and doors for us all day, every day and they are experts at what they do none of our installers are bad . As an owner, I would never install anything or have an installer employed by us that I wouldn t want working in my own home. Heritage Renovations has never avoided responsibility for anything. We are an integrity based business and have even been nominated for the Better Business Bureau Integrity Award.
During your installation there was a call with one of the owners of the company. A plan was created with your wife and we offered to treat you to a nice dinner as a token of our thanks for your patience with the damaged product.
After this plan was set in motion you escalated to physical and property threats. We never yelled at you and have all conversations recorded. You contacted us 30 times and threatened to come to our office and hurt our employees. You stated that you have a criminal background and we would soon find out who we were dealing with. You edited a picture of the owner s head with a threatening message. You became aware of the owner s home address and threated to go there. The police had to be called and your behaviour was deemed criminal. An officer spoke with you and your family on three separate occasions. We declined to press charges although we had every right to proceed.
Again, I apologize that you had a small dent the size of the tip of my fingernail on your door. I arranged with your wife to replace a window crank of a window we did not install as a favour. The appointment was booked and the warranty order was placed. You have no wind draft on your door. The product on our contract was installed fully and completely.
Your wife stated that she was embarrassed and had asked you repeatedly to remove your post. While she was understandably disappointed about the warranty issue (as were we) she understood.
While we strive for perfection, circumstances outside of our control can arise and we make a plan to create the best outcome possible. I am proud of our work.
Shannon and Jay run an exceptional home reno business. The North Star windows I purchased were installed on time, in a timely fashion, and the crews cleaned up well after themselves. They provided a detailed written quote after spending time with us at home, and offer the option of paying by e-transfer for maximum convenience.
If you're upgrading a truly heritage home I highly recommend that you see Shannon and Jay at the showroom. They have a lot of knowledge about the technological advances which have shaped modern windows and doors, and that is hard to covey in brochures, websites, dimensions, and e-mails. In some cases, if you ask ahead of time, they will even go above and beyond to see you after their already industry-leading opening hours.
I normally do not write reviews but feel that I need to make people aware of our dealings with Heritage Renovations. First of all I have no problem with the product. Our problem stems from the lies in order to make the sale and the poor customer service. My wife and I decided to replace both our front double doors and transom along with the back french doors. Also to be installed was the new door handle hardware. First of all this was not a cheap renovation but found their price to be within reason. We dealt with one of the sales persons in August 2018 and was assured that the work would be completed by the end of October 2018. A down payment was placed for the work to be provided. We were aware that the government had been running a energy efficient program and was assured by the salesperson that this would not effect the installation date. When October came around and we had not heard from Heritage we called and ended up dropping into the showroom. We were advised that they were back logged due to the the government initiative and that the work could not be completed till later in the fall. Heritage advised us that the salesperson should have been aware that the installation could not be completed in October. It should be noted that the salesperson apparently does not work for Heritage anymore. As it turned out the installation was not completed until February 2019. The work was completed by mid evening in the dark in the middle of winter. A check of the door using a flash light did not appear to have any issues. It was not until March that we noticed some slight dents and paint chips underneath one of the front door handles, which can only be seen when looking at the door from an angle. After several calls including those that were not returned I attended Heritage and spoke to the General Manager. I was advised to email him pictures of the damage, which I did and for several weeks did not receive any response. I again attended Heritage and was advised that the damage was caused by us and not by his installers. It was suggested that the damage was possibly caused by a key. It should be noted that the front doors are not our main entrance into the house due to a alarm system etc. and that the only time a key was used in any of those doors was the day when the installation was conducted to make sure the locks were keyed properly. I felt insulted that we were being blamed for the damage. I have since had a door installer and a painter come out to look at the door in question and both are 100 % in agreement that the damage was caused by the installation of the door hardware. The General Manager indicated that the only way to repair the door was to replace the one double door, which he made clear was not an option. The independent door installer and painter both indicted that the door would have to be replaced to correct the problem and were not surprised that Heritage would not take responsibility for the damage.
Bottom line is that Heritage is there to make a profit and it is easier to blame the customer then lose money on their own mistakes.
We had 8 windows installed last year. They look great! We noticed a big improvement with reduced condensation. We liked it so much we're getting more this year. They did a professional job installing and cleaned up afterward. Good job!
Terrific company to deal with. Very knowledgeable throughout the sales process and provided lots of information. The installation was fast and looks amazing plus I can’t believe how much warmer my home is this winter. I would recommend them to anyone!
I will begin this with the positives. This started well as the new entrance door and screen door were delivered and installed in a timely manner and I do need to be clear that through all of this my experience with the service techs have been good and they have all been courteous and accommodating. I advise them all to seek employment with a more reputable organization than Heritage Renovations as the business practices here will certainly spell the end before long I imagine. My issues began with manufacturers defects on both the entrance and the screen door, culminating with the main reason for my complaint. My entrance door has a small window and it is framed in by a "trim ring". This ring has warped, been replaced and warped again with the reason given being heat. It should be said that during the sales process when we were discussing door colour we were assured that we would have no concerns choosing a black door and why should we doubt that as there are many black entrance doors everywhere I go. Anyway the proposed solution now is an aluminum trim ring which I was told should solve the issue but I was going to have to pay "half" of the cost. This was an issue as this is a manufacturer issue and is happening through no fault of mine. During this conversation with James( he says he is the owner at Heritage ) he explained that the manufacturer is charging them so we will need to share the expense. I replied that it was unfortunate that the manufacturer Gentek was not supporting their dealer or standing behind their product and that at the end of the day Heritage is the face to the customer of any manufacturer they sell products on behalf of so it will ultimately relfect on them. Following this conversation I approached the manufacturer Gentek with my concerns and relayed them to person at the desk at their London office that explained she would email the customer service person and someone would be in touch in a few days. This was about a month ago and nothing so far. Meanwhile I have the techs here to install today and they asked me for payment before they can do the work. I tell them I have no problem paying but it won't be until after the work is done and I am satisfied. They get on the phone to James and he tells them to leave. I have now reached the last of my patience with this bush league operator and we have a heated discussion revolving around the fact that through all of this experience he now has expectation for me to pay in advance for work that has not been done yet. This ends with James hanging up on me. At this point I really have no choice but to pay up front for this or live with a warped substandard product. Through all this I should mention that there has been an ongoing screen door issue which James also committed to sending a new screen roller mechanism to resolve. Subsequent to our heated conversation it seems he has also backtracked on that and the tech advised me that I now need to deal with the manufacturer of the screen door for resolution. In a followup call to James to inquire about this sudden change he was"unavailable". It seems he is a coward as well as a very poor businessman. Based on my experience my advice to anyone in the London and surrounding area shopping for entrance or screen doors steer far away from Heritage Renovations and Gentek doors in general. It pains me to say this as I prefer to support local businesses but it is not advised in the case of the two companies.
